General Hospital - NEWS ROOM

As if becoming a father and (hopefully!) husband all at once isn't enough for Patrick Drake on General Hospital, his portrayer, Jason Thompson, can now add another title to his name - Executive Producer. Along with his good friend Donnie Eicher, he worked on the feature length documentary, "Victory Over Darkness" which deals with the true story of three Ironman triathlon athletes who happen to be blind.

The filming took place in Chicago, Idaho and Florida over the course of five years. David Bigoney, Matt Miller, Charles Plaskon and Erika and Heidi Musser play themselves in recounting the enormous dedication it took to prepare for the race. The blind competitors relied heavily on their guides who give of themselves to help others achieve their dreams. For those of you who aren't familiar with the Ironman competition, it is a 2.5-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and a 26-mile marathon.

Critics report that the film is moving and inspirational. "Victory over Darkness" is currently making the film festival circuit and was most recently included in the Heartland Film Festival in Indianapolis. Soaps.com congratulates Jason and wishes "Victory over Darkness" great success!
