What's up with GH's Robert Scorpio?

Wednesday, August 27 2008

Tristan Rogers (ABC)
Plenty! Not only has Robert (literally) dropped into Port Charles on SOAPnet's GH: Night Shift, it turns out that he has a brain tumor and colon cancer. Tristan Rogers, Robert's portrayer, credits the dramatic storyline as his reason for returning to soaps. As it turns out, he has family ties to colon cancer and he feels strongly that it is nothing to be embarrassed about. In order to portray the disease as realistically as possible, he was ready to shave his head, but certain character continuity obstacles made it too difficult. (Robert has just had brain surgery to remove the tumor and there would have to have been a scar on his scalp.) Instead, he settled for a really closely shaven head.

Robert is using this time to get reacquainted with his pregnant daughter Robin, and soon, will reunite with Anna as well. (Read about her crossover storyline here.)

Will there be sparks between Robin's baby grandma and grandpa? The bigger question for GH fans is, "Will we get to see them together on daytime?" I went straight to the source to find out for sure. (Well, kind of for sure.)

"Right now, the plan is for Anna and Robert to be on Night Shift only. But there's always a chance you'll see them both on the mothership some time this fall..." Mitchell.C.Messinger, Director of Media Relations for ABC Daytime, told me.

In any case, it's good to hear that Robert's in the vicinity, albeit he's tackling villains inside his own body at this point instead of taking on the world.

Intrigued? Read more about what's happening on Night Shift here. Or just bide your time and hope to see some Scorpio action on GH!

GH-Night Shift is so much better than the daytime show I hope the GH-NS writer transfers over. This is truly a hospital show, not the "Godfather/Sopranos" clone the daytime show has become. I found this week's story of Moira and Cyrus more interesting than any storyline involving patients on the daytime show in years. Even Robin is more the Robin of old than the annoying "I love you but won't marry you" woman we see in the afternoon. I'm sorry it is only for 13 weeks.

CBill: I agree with you! I actually like Robin for the first time EVER on NS this season.

I was a 30 Year fan of GH, but I have stopped watching GH because of the mob storylines, and the loss of key actors. I hate to see what is happenned to a #1 soap. I have watch this week because of Laura, I read the spoilers and rumors.
Maybe NS will take over , and cross over some of the great actors from GH and be able to give the fans what they are missing on GH.

Maybe Robert will be there with Anna for the birth of the Scorpio-Drake grandchild. One can only hope.

And yes the writing is so much better on NS2

Please do not let Robert die because it won't be the same and want him and Anna get together again they are my favorite and hope that his round to see his daughter give birth to her and Patrick baby and get marry too.
