Sam visits Nik to check out his new free clinic and Matt asks Nadine who she is. Before they can be introduced, a mother rushes in with her little girl. In Spanish she urgently asks for help and Sam translates that the medicine she was given earlier is making her worse! Matt examines her and says that the girl has an infection that has gone untreated. They rush her over to GH and learn that the infection may have already compromised the little girl's (Isabella) nervous system. Sam is visibly upset.
Jerry goes to GH to have his back looked at. Dr. Hunter asks him to remove his shirt and takes note of all the scars that Jerry has. Jerry directs him to just look at the recent mark that was made when he ran into someone's fist.
Nik is back at the clinic asking Matt about his brief encounter with Logan. They are interrupted by a visit from Mayor Floyd, who tells Nik that first he administers fake drugs and now he ends up with a murdered body. Nik says it looks like someone is trying to sabotage the clinic. Meanwhile, Matt steps outside to take a phone call. He tells the voice at the other end that the guy he was going to work with ended up dead and now they have to go to Plan B.
On the waterfront, Maxie has just told Logan that he's a loser in front of Matt. In return, Logan calls her a tramp. Matt tells Logan that he doesn't appreciate verbal abuse of a woman and Logan just shrugs and leaves. Maxie thanks Matt and then warns him to stay away from Logan Hayes.
Matt returns to the clinic and tells Nikolas that the medication they gave their female patient was indeed a placebo. Nik tells him to test all of the meds and give him a list of the suppliers. He says that he wants to find out who is profiting off of people's medical problems.
Dr. Matt Hunter goes to work at the free clinic. Nikolas introduces Nadine and Leyla and then gives him a tour. Dr. Hunter doesn't mind working 15 hours a week but reminds Nik that he's a surgical resident and isn't interested in giving vaccines and band aids. Nik reminds him that the clinic has high standards and deserves his respect. Before long, a patient comes in and collapses on the floor. She had come in earlier and been given an antibiotic but it didn't bring her fever down at all. Nik finds the pills and asks Dr. Hunter if he can have them tested. Dr. Hunter says that counterfeit drugs are a lucrative business and a growing one. Nadine wonders if that's why Claudia Zacchara keeps stopping by.
Logan and Matt Hunter meet on the waterfront. Logan says that his supplier will be able to provide the "discounted medication" that he's asking about. Dr. Hunter says that as long as he is covered, he's interested in making extra money just like he did at the last hospital he worked for. He asks Logan to tell him when and where and he'll make sure the client buys from him for a 30% cut. Maxie comes upon them and warns Matt not to trust Logan Hayes.
Dr. Hunter is chastising Maxi and Spinelli for trying to have sex so soon after his illness. Maxie says that the doctor is just jealous that she and Spinelli have hot sex whenever they want and apparently the doctor isn't getting any. Dr. Hunter steps out for a minute and Maxie apologizes to Spinelli for lying about a hot, sexy relationship that they'll never really have because they are like brother and sister. Lulu shows up and is followed by Dr. Hunter, who kicks the girls out. He has a theory about why Spinelli appears awkward in social situations, is passionate about singular topics and can't make small talk and would like to run more tests. The Jackal doesn't care to be diagnosed and Dr. Hunter isn't sure why he wouldn't want to change some of his behaviors? Spinelli confirms that this conversation never happened.
