Back in the limo, Claudia tells Jason that now she has to marry Sonny, but he could stop the whole thing if he would just give Sonny his business back. She says that both she and Sonny were lying when they refused to get married and then tells Jason that her new husband will likely kill him because he is an insult to his pride. "This was our last chance and neither one of us took it," Claudia tells him.
Laura Comes Alive!
Claudia is in Jason's office giving him her theory about Anthony's plan to marry her off to Sonny. She says that there's only one way to stop the old man in his tracks and that's to make her unavailable. "Marry me yourself," she tells Jason as if asking him to pass the butter. Jason's response is nearly as surprising as the challenge itself. He says, "Let's go."
In the car, Claudia tells Jason that she requires eye contact from her husband, at the very least. He tells her that she can do what she wants and live where she wants. Claudia says that she's never been important in her family but now she is, so he'd better work with her. In fact, she challenges him to convince her why she should be marrying him instead of Sonny? He reminds her that she doesn't have to marry anyone, but Claudia likes the idea of controlling her father. She asks Jason about his earlier life and he actually talks to her about the trips he's always wanted to take, etc. When she asks why he's willing to get married so suddenly, he tells her that's not what this ride is about. Suddenly Claudia realizes that if she's out of the way no one has to get married. With tears in her eyes, she asks if she's about to get a bullet in the back of her head? Jason simply says that she needs to leave town and start over, that's all. Claudia recalls a time when Johnny ran away and hid out with cousins but Anthony found him and then killed the cousins. She says that running is not an option.
Tequila Time!
Ric joins Claudia at her table at The Metro Court, but she's in no mood for chitchat. She tells him that since he is tight with her father, he betrayed her by not warning her about the old man's scheme. Ric doesn't know what she's talking about, so she tells him that Anthony wants her to marry Sonny. Before Ric can respond, Claudia says that Sonny will use her to get his power back and she might as well use him too. Ric tells her that they have a good thing going between them and she shouldn't blow it!
Jason is in a tizzy in his office when Claudia shows up. She insists that he hear her out, but he says that he already knows about Anthony's offer to Sonny. Claudia tells him that the deal has to go through her first. Suddenly, she has Jason's attention.
Sam Can't Get Anyone to Believe Her.
"Please tell me you said no," Claudia tells Sonny at The Metro Court after hearing Anthony's plans for them to marry. Sonny calmly tells her about her father's offer and then reminds her that of course he said no because he's in love with Kate. Claudia says that her father has been trying to get rid of her for years, so this doesn't surprise her. When she hears that Sonny turned him down, she says it's too late because Anthony already knows that he wants something. Sonny clarifies what he thinks he's hearing. He asks if she would actually marry him? Claudia says that they pretty much hate each other, but could have good sex.
Claudia goes home and tells Anthony that he can't marry her off to the highest bidder. Anthony is encouraged that Sonny has already come to her with his proposal. He tells Claudia not to disappoint him after redeeming herself during her brother's trial. Claudia says that he's probably planning on killing her and her new husband and giving everything to John anyway.
John comes into the room and Anthony tells him that Claudia will explain everything. After he wheels away laughing, Claudia fills her brother in. Johnny's first comment is that Sonny treats her like a dog, but Claudia says that this could work for them if they play it right. She says that she's in a power position for the first time in a long time and she's okay with that!
Here Comes a Different Bride?
Ric greets Claudia at The Metro Court with a kiss. She gets on his case for being late and he tells her that they should get something straight. He says that he doesn't need to use her to ingratiate himself into the family because he's already securely in place. Then he asks if it occurs to her that he might actually like her. She says that she's been living with the fact that she's a commodity since she was a little girl and this is no different. He asks if she could ever believe in love and she laughs. He seems a little stunned, and then decides to laugh too.
Sonny is at The Metro Court bar when Claudia comes in looking for her cell phone. Sonny assumes that she's checking up on him for her father. When she denies it, he tells her about Anthony's plan to marry them off.
