Nik's Explosive Temper.

The exam rooms are experiencing their share of drama, too. Dr. Lee looks worried as she asks Angela when the last time she felt the baby move? In her room, Liz comes to and is in a lot of pain as Leo rushes to bring her some relief. Down the hall, Jake is in trouble and Epiphany administers CPR.

Back in the lobby, Joe gets antsy when the beeping of a code blue rings out. Monica explains that means that someone is in trouble. He tells Sam to go check on Angela. Soon, Leo rushes out and says that Liz has been cut pretty badly and he needs Monica's help. Jason panics and tells Monica to go! When Leo and Monica reach Liz, Leo says that he can't stop the bleeding from one of Liz's bigger cuts. Monica says that she hasn't operated since losing Emily, but Leo tells her she has no choice. Monica starts to work, but freezes and leaves it up to Dr. Leo.

Scott Plays God.

In the ER, Elizabeth has just realized that she has literally come from a fire to a frying pan (by virtue of a hospital being held hostage by a bomber)! Joe tells her that her baby doesn't deserve any more care than his unborn one does. Leo urges Joe to let them help both patients and Epiphany asks Liz to hand Jake over to her. Sam is able to convince Joe to let Jake get treatment and Elizabeth thanks her. That's when Liz notices that she suffered a cut during the fire and is taken for treatment.

In the exam room, Angela tells Kelly that she wanted Joe to have a son while Kelly detects a respiratory problem. Behind the next curtain Liz wants to go see Jake, but Leo tells her that she has lost a lot of blood. Epiphany tells her that Jason is here so she can calm down.

All Paths Lead to the Hospital.

The hospital is a busy place. For starters, Tracy is furious when she finds that Luke has given her the slip. Logan shows up and makes up a story about where Lulu is. Tracy is more concerned that Lulu's father doesn't "keel over dead from a lap dance." In a nearby room, Mayor Floyd is getting his leg injury examined by Dr. Leo. Before long, Leo hears some ruckus in the hallway and steps out to see what's going on.

Defending Luke's Life.

At the hospital, Luke's code blue crisis seems to be over, but he is still out. Dr. Leo tells Tracy and Lulu that Luke may have sustained some damage to the valves that they just replaced. Tracy is livid. Just then, the judge declares that Luke is not guilty and he wakes up in his bed. He thanks Tracy for defending him and she tells him that she is going to kill him herself.

A New Day.

Back at the hospital, the second Dr. Leo gives Luke his new lifestyle rules and Tracy leaves, Luke calls his Cuban cigar dealer and says, "I am dying for a good cigar."

Another funeral.

Tracy returns to Luke's hospital bed with a somber face. She tells him that she won't make it through another funeral so he'd better be strong. She tells him about the "eulogy from hell" that Maxie delivered and that she ripped Felicia to shreds. Luke is surprised to hear that Felicia is in town, but then asks what's really bothering her. Tracy says that she can imagine Dillon or Ned doing the same thing to her because she deserves it. Dr. Julian comes in and informs them that Luke's surgery is set for tomorrow. Tracy tells him it's Christmas Eve! Luke likes the idea of being under heavy anesthesia on the dreaded day of "Xmas" appeals to him.

Disco's Back?

"Dr. Quartermaine, this patient is bleeding out!" Epiphany tells Monica as they struggle to keep Luke from bleeding out. Monica can't seem to function, but thankfully Dr. Julian comes in and takes over. Monica leaves and goes to the waiting room to face Luke's family. She finds them arguing about whether or not Scottie should be among them. As they argue, Monica approaches them and tells them that she is sorry. She admits that she should've never tried to perform surgery because Tracy was right - she froze. She says that she saw Emily's face and lost focus and nearly lost Luke. She says that Dr. Julian is doing everything he can as they speak. Leslie and Bobbie are gracious and empathize with Monica's loss, but Tracy is furious.

Alexis to the Rescue.

Patrick and Leo grab a beer and sit at their table. Patrick refuses to feel like a criminal for being honest enough to admit that he doesn't want to be a father. At another table, the ladies are deliberately talking loud enough for the guys to hear. They say that men are babies themselves, that men want their women's undivided attention, and so on. Finally Patrick scoots his chair over and tells them if they're so eager to talk about babies, here he is. He tells the women that none of them have kids, and in fact, Kelly told him that she doesn't want kids. Kelly clarifies that if she was in love with a guy and it was a deal breaker, she'd "give it a hard look". Robin says that she wishes Patrick could see himself the way that she does - that he would make a great father. Leo tells them to stop busting Patrick's chops and Kelly tells him to keep his nose out of it. Eventually, Robin and Patrick are left alone at the table and Patrick tells her that he's just trying to avoid a disaster. She says that she appreciates the compromise he came up with, but she would love him more than ever after a year and still be childless. They agree that they miss each other, but Robin tells him that there's always Leyla. Patrick says that he could like Leyla, if only he could stop loving her.
