Jason and Spinelli are working at the coffee warehouse when Diane storms in and announces that she's ready to defend Jason for stabbing Logan Hayes to death last night. The guys are surprised to hear that Logan is dead and quickly say that they were together last night. Diane isn't pleased with either Carly or Spinelli for an alibi, but Jason offers that he saw Robin last night too. Diane thinks a pregnant doctor would play much better on the stand. Spinelli says that he must ascertain who really did kill Logan Hayes, just in case. He rushes to his laptop and starts scouring security cameras near the free clinic area. Diane tells him that his kind of research is illegal and is amazed that he has a degree now as a P.I. As Spinelli works, Detective Harper arrives and asks Jason when he last saw Logan Hayes. Diane won't let him answer and Jason is taken to the PCPD.
Diane goes to see Kate at Crimson in order to draw up the pre-nup. Alexis comes in and hears that Kate is marrying Sonny. "How can you be so misguided?" she laments. Kate defends every argument against marrying Sonny that Alexis lobs her way and assures her friends that the pre-nup will take care of any remaining issues.
Diane stops by Jason's penthouse and finds Spinelli munching furiously on chips. She welcomes him home from the hospital and asks what's going on with him? He lays out his current dilemma and says that if he joins the Captain of Industry he would have to leave Stone Cold. Diane wonders if Jax is trying to pay Jason back for Carly's obsession with him by stealing his cohort. Spinelli wants no part of Jax and Carly's marriage coaster and decides to stay with Jason.
Diane is cleaning the condo when Jason arrives. She asks if he has talked to Carly and when he asks why says she can't say because of Attorney/Client privilege! He wants to know everything but she will only say Carly isn't in danger but will be calling him. Diane asks about their connection. She warns him that Carly leans on him too much and that she should be leaning on Jax - or Sonny! Jason can't explain. Diane leaves. Jason checks his messages and finds several from Carly. She barges in a few minutes later and tells him she may be pregnant. "I need to find out if you and I are having a baby," she announces.
Diane meets Carly at Jake's and assures her that whatever they talk about is privileged information. Carly comes right out and tells her that she might be pregnant and the father is either Jax or Sonny. Diane nearly chokes on a peanut and cancels her scotch order so that she can keep a clear head. Carly explains how she and Sonny reconnected after taking Michael to his new home and then how she and Jax reconnected on the same night. She says that she can feel that she's pregnant but wants to know the legalities before she takes a test. Diane says that Sonny would have full rights to that baby if it's his. She advises Carly to take a test and if she's pregnant she needs to tell Jax everything. Carly says that can't happen and she knows how to stop Sonny.
Carly is still laughing at the PCPD as Alexis asks Detective Harper to uncuff Jerry and Jax. Mac says that he will if the brothers promise that they are done fighting. Carly says that they are done, and Jerry loudly says that all he did was have wonderful sex with Alexis and hopes to have it again soon. Fed up, Alexis whistles and yells to everyone in the room that she had sex with Jerry last night.
Diane whisks Alexis into the interrogation room. She tells her that she deserved her night of meaningless sex but does she have to announce it to the world? From Alexis's reaction, Diane can see that it wasn't meaningless to Alexis. As she prods her, Alexis reminds her that she's engaged to her bad boy. Diane clarifies that she and Max have decided otherwise. Alexis pushes Diane out into the main room and tells her to tell Jerry she'll call him later. A few moments later Jerry pushes his way into the room, tells Alexis that he doesn't take orders and pulls her in for a passionate kiss.
Sonny has sent Max to pick up an engagement ring for Kate. Once he returns to the house, he is admiring it when Diane comes into the room. He tries to hide it but she can see something and tries to get it out of him. The box drops to the floor and Max ends up on one knee to retrieve it. Diane can't believe her eyes and marvels at how big the diamond is. Max says that it's 5 karats and says something about "…nothing but the best." Max can see that she's getting the wrong idea and comments that he's not communicating very well. Diane forgives him and accepts his proposal. Sonny walks into the room and Diane promptly flashes "her" new rock to him and then takes off.
Diane rushes up to Alexis's office and says that they need drinks ASAP. She says that she is engaged but the last thing she wants to do is get married! Alexis tells her to give the ring back, but Diane can't stop looking at it. Alexis spells out the reasons why one shouldn't marry "…the minion of a thug." Diane lists all of Max's attributes but has to admit that she doesn't want to marry anyone.
Back at Sonny's, Max is trying to find the words to ask Diane for the ring back and she shows up. She stammers as she tries to explain her feelings, and Max jumps in and tries to explain his. Sonny yells at them to just say it, so in unison Diane and Max state, "I can't marry you!" Sonny explains that the ring was meant for Kate and Diane reluctantly peels it off. Max asks her if she's disappointed and Diane says that if she were younger, it could've worked. But women who have achieved a career never do well inside a marriage, she says. She tells Max that she's happy with their adult relationship instead of enduring the pitfalls of marriage. Kate shows up and asks who is getting married? Diane quickly covers and says that they are talking about a hypothetical marriage between her and Max, but they'd both prefer the mind-bending sex that they are having. Speaking of which, she looks at Max and they scurry off. Sonny asks Kate if she thinks she can handle her career and their relationship and she is confused.
