Diane goes over to Sonny's and is happy to see that he is cheerful this morning. She comments that she stopped by Kate's office and happened to see the very stylish wedding invitations on her desk. Then she hands over the one made out to Carly and Jax. She says that it's bad manners to invite your ex to your wedding, especially if you're still having sex with her. Sonny tries to deny it so she mentions the back of the limo. Sonny says that she needs to stay out of his private life and that Carly should never have told her about that. He calls the whole encounter "…practically an accident" and assures Diane that he and Carly are done. He professes his love for Kate, so Diane suggests that not inviting Carly to the wedding would be a good way to prove it.
Diane rushes to the park to meet Alexis. She finds her friend a nervous wreck and urges her to breathe. Alexis explains that Anthony has threatened Kristina's life twice. Diane suggests that Alexis go to Sonny. Alexis says that she went to Jerry the first time and he threatened Johnny in order to keep Anthony in line. But now that Johnny is gone, what will work? Diane tells her that she knows exactly what to do. Before they can say more, Jerry shows up and asks what's so important. Diane tells Alexis to keep their girl talk private and then leaves. Alexis is able to dodge his questions, for now. She tells him that her world is about to come down around her and she has to handle it on her own.
Sonny goes over to Kate's house. She asks how it went with Mike and Sonny says that his father is worried that his addiction to power will draw him back into the business. He admits that he did enjoy the power but it cost him too much. He tells Kate that she means everything to him. Satisfied with his answer, Kate asks if he's really comfortable with the size of the wedding she's planning. Once again he tells her that he wants her to have the wedding of her dreams on September 26th. She rushes off to get sample menus and while she's out of the room Diane comes in. She accuses Sonny of putting Max at risk. Kate returns and asks why Max is at risk? Diane covers by saying that Max works far too many hours and Kate tells Sonny that Max deserves a personal life.
After Carly leaves Jason calls Diane over and tells her to set up a meeting today with Karpov's attorney. After a few warnings, Diane agrees.
At Jason's office, Spinelli regretfully tells Jason that Mr. C has received a 2nd deposit into his offshore bank account. Although he's angry, Jason listens as Spinelli warns that Sonny and Karpov could be harmful to his organization. Diane arrives and Jason promptly asks her what she knows about Sonny and Karpov. Diane says that Sonny has declined full disclosure against her better judgment.
Diane shows up at Sonny's house and is mortified to see Max with a shiner. She assumes that Sonny and Jason's "civil war" has caught Max in the middle. Sonny orders Max to tell her what happened, but he stalls. Finally he says, "I got my butt kicked by a grandma." Sonny explains that Robin asked them to help Anna look good in front of Eli Love and Max staged a kidnapping. Diane is appalled that Sonny would go along with such a thing and tells Max to go get her massage table from the car so she can work on his stiff neck.
After Max is gone, Sonny asks her if Jason knows about his deal with Karpov. Diane reminds him of her professionalism and says that she has not said a word, but it's not too late for Sonny to fess up. Sonny insists that he and Jason are both doing what they think is right and don't need to talk any further about it.
A little later Karpov arrives at Sonny's and Max shows him in. Sonny introduces Diane and Karpov immediately comments about how hot he is for redheads. Max defends her honor and then whisks Diane out of the room. As soon as they are alone, Sonny reminds Karpov again that he is not to interfere with Jason Morgan's business. Then he proceeds to say that they'll have to reroute their shipment tonight so as not to get in the way of Jason's pier.
Diane is able to get a court order from a judge to have Jason released. She tells Jason that he'll be released shortly and that she has certainly earned her retainer. Jason thanks her and asks if she's talked to Sonny lately. Diane says that she has and asks why. Jason says that Sonny worries that he is vulnerable to rivals and wonders what that could mean.
Sonny tells Diane that she's jumping to conclusions regarding his meeting with Karpov and Diane apologizes for overstepping. She offers to resign since she continues to have conflicts of interest between him and Jason. Sonny won't let her quit because he's not in competition with Jason. Diane says that keeping his relationship with Karpov a secret screams betrayal to Jason. Sonny says that Jason helping Carly take away his boys hurt, but he would never betray him. Diane urges him to at least tell Jason about his new relationship.
