Over at Crimson, Spinelli lays out a plan to catch the thieves to Maxie. He asks for a real layout that they can try to leak, but Maxie is skeptical of giving him one. As a show of trust, she pulls out a layout that represents her first shot at being an editor. It's an idea about how to dress as a holiday elf without 'nerding out' that Kate gave her permission to run with. She nervously hands it over and tells him that her career is in his very capable hands. He looks it over and is impressed with her work. He puts a miniature tracking device on the folder just as Kate comes out and informs Maxie that she is going out with Johnny tonight. Maxie objects because she's working on the case with Spinelli and Johnny flatly refuses. Kate, miffed to be missing a PR opportunity, orders Maxie to find out who leaked her work or else she and Lulu will be out of jobs.
The Surgery Begins.
Over at Crimson, Spinelli agrees to take on the case but only if he reports to Lulu. As he gets to work, Lulu urges Maxie to stop trying to use this situation to get Spinelli back and stay out of his way. As they talk, Ethan arrives to tell Lulu that her dad could use some cheering up.
Four Men, a Baby and an Embryo.
Maxie and Lulu are hard at work at Crimson when Ethan shows up with an envelope of cash for Lulu. He says that he's going back to Australia and wanted to use his own money to pay back the Crimson cash box. He tells her that it was a pleasure to meet her and that hopefully their paths will cross again. Before Lulu can ask questions, Kate waltzes in with tons of work for them to do. Surprisingly, Lulu covers Maxie's butt when Kate unearths a mistake. Later Maxie thanks her. Lulu says that she knows that Maxie has been distracted lately and she's been covering all of her mistakes. She adds that she and Johnny would've broken up anyway and she'd just like to move on.
Maxie Vows to Make Lulu Pay!
Maxie is furious with Matt when they return from Manhattan. She tells him that he has the social skills of a sloth and she can't wait until Kate hears about it. Just then, Kate comes out of her office and reports that she heard what a splash they made with the press! Maxie protests, but Matt says that he would love to do it again. He says that Kate wouldn't have to pay him because the pleasure of Maxie's company is more than enough for him. Maxie says that Matt's schedule at the hospital could keep him from being available and he tells her that he'll step away from Kate's offer if she goes on one real date with him. She agrees, and Johnny remains the date du jour. Lulu arrives and gets in Maxie's face for wanting to be with her boyfriend!
Jerry Apologizes to Carly.
Matt saunters into Crimson and tells Lulu that Maxie digs him but won't admit it yet. Lulu tells him to try a different approach with Maxie. Before long, Maxie shows up and tells him to leave and Kate comes out of her office and echoes her. Kate announces that Johnny needs to take Maxie to Soho tonight, and Lulu says that she can't reach him but Dr. Hunter will do. Matt is happy to oblige, Kate doesn't mind, but Maxie protests. As Ethan arrives, Maxie reaches for him and says that he could take her. Lulu jumps up and says that Ethan is taking her out on their first date today. Maxie makes a case for Ethan, but Kate wants Matt to be the escort today. After everyone's left, Ethan hands Lulu the cash that he took from her back and asks when the date starts? Lulu just laughs at him.
Will Sonny Learn about his Other Son?
"I think he's coming back to us," Carly tells Sonny about Michael's hand movement. As Sonny asks a bunch of questions, Kate comes into The Metro Court lobby and sees what's going on. She asks if Michael might really be waking up? Carly tries to blow her off, but Sonny explains. Kate promises to keep Michael in her prayers and then leaves them alone. Sonny turns to Carly and says that if she believes Michael can wake up then he'll try to believe too.
It's another frenetic day at Crimson. When Ethan shows up, Lulu explains that he is the perfect size to replace Johnny as Maxie's event escort. Kate looks him up and down and firmly declines. After he's sent away, Maxie notices that the petty cash is gone.
Nik tells Lucky to Back Off!
Carly runs into Kate on the waterfront and can't wait to inform her that she and Jax are renewing their vows. Kate tells her that she doesn't thrive on turmoil and drama like she and Claudia do and she doesn't care at all about her plans to marry Jax again. Carly cuts to the point and asks what dirt she has on Claudia. Kate brushes it off and reaffirms that she's done with all of it and wishes Carly a good life. She can't resist, however, insinuating that Carly won't be able to drag herself from her past with Sonny.
Spinelli Risks it all for Maxie.
Johnny and Lulu are at Crimson. Kate won't take no for an answer when she informs him that he will escort Maxie to a big fashion show.
It's Do or Die Time For Michael.
Sonny finds Kate in his living room talking to Claudia. He overheard Michael's name and asks what's going on. Claudia covers by saying that she told Kate about the procedure that Michael is having tonight. Sonny fills Kate in. Kate references that there's 'plenty of blame to go around' where Michael is concerned and asks Claudia if she agrees. Sonny asks what Claudia has to do with anything? Kate tells him that he deserves to know the truth about Michael, but Sonny says that he does know - he couldn't protect his own son. Frustrated, Kate asks why he feels that he deserves what he gets? She unloads on him for being unwilling to open his eyes. She tells him that she's completely done with him and leaves. Sonny is upset. When Claudia tries to comfort him, he tells her that if only he had been an inch closer to his son, he might've caught the ricochet instead and Michael could've grown up.
