Kate goes to Jason's office to invite him to her wedding. He says that he can't come.
Cupid is on Hiatus.
Kate has called Sonny over to her house because Max is there crying on her shoulder. "Do I seem like a boy toy to you?" Max asks Sonny. All Sonny can think of to say is that he just saw Diane with Jason, but Max takes that to mean that Diane broke up with him to be with Jason. He recalls every time that Jason pushed him out of the room and declares that he's going after the woman of his dreams!
Sonny and Kate start to go over their wedding plans. He says that he's going to invite Jason and Mike agreed to be his best man. Kate says it's important to have family, and he asks if she doesn't want some of hers to be there? She says that she made her choices a long time ago and is quite certain that none of her family will be there.
And the Verdict Is...
Sonny tears up as he puts his heart on the line and begs Kate to marry him. She listens to everything he has to say, and with her own tears in her eyes, she says that she will. After a kiss, she says that they might be a little battle-weary, but they have remained in tact. Diane, who has just stepped into Kate's office, says that they should rethink this. Maxie finally shows up for work and joins in the fray. Sonny takes a seat and says that they should all say what they have to say in front of him, rather than behind his back.
Diane gladly takes the opportunity and pushes Sonny into a makeshift witness stand. She appoints Maxie as the court stenographer and proceeds to ask how many times Sonny and Carly have gotten back together. Sonny answers all of Diane's questions truthfully and finally Kate raises an objection. She uses 'irrelevant' as her reason for Sonny and Carly's limo tryst and says that there were extenuating circumstances. Diane decides to put Kate on 'the stand' and proceeds to cross-examine her. She lays out a timeline of Sonny's lies and Kate objects because it feels like Diane is badgering her. She thanks Diane for wanting to protect her, but says she's a big girl and can make her own decisions. She says that she loves Sonny and wants to spend her life with him.
This time it's Jax who has entered the office having overheard the tale end of a conversation. He tells Kate that as long as Carly draws breath there's no way that Sonny will stay faithful to her. Diane pulls Maxie out of the room and Kate tells Jax that she has chosen to forgive Sonny. Jax says that's too bad because he and Carly are over. After he leaves, Kate is all fired up because of Jax's visit and Sonny says that he is the luckiest guy in the world to have her love and faith.
Madam Foreperson.
Sonny asks Kate if she’s forgiven him. Kate says she does love him and could believe that he would never be with Carly again, but she doesn’t exactly trust Carly. Sonny threatens to break the mirror behind her if she does not agree to marry him. Kate doesn't appreciate him playing on her superstitions and tells him that she doesn’t want to get hurt again. Sonny tells her all she has to do is believe him, but Kate yells that it’s not that easy. Sonny challenges her to break the mirror herself and if she does, he will believe that they are over and he will leave her alone. Kate tries, but she can’t do it. She starts to cry and calls herself a fool. Sonny says she’s the woman he loves and that she’s just following her heart. He tears up as he tells her he wants to marry her and asks if she will. Kate just gives him a slow smile.
Liz Makes a(nother) Move!
Sonny is at Crimson trying not to take his engagement ring back. Kate can't conceal her pain, but Sonny keeps insisting that sooner or later she will realize that they belong together. She tells him that she gave up everything to move to Port Charles for him and all the while he and Carly had a secret. She says that she can't trust him, so he should leave. Sonny tells her that he doesn't love easily, and asks if she is really telling him that everything that they have felt for each other is a lie. He begs her to get past the pain and then he'll protect her heart the rest of his life. Kate asks what would happen to them if she agreed to marry him still?
ELizabeth, Carly's Mini Me?
At Crimson, Kate tells Clarice to pull out Plan B for the wedding issue because her wedding is definitely off. Sonny appears and says that he's not giving up that easy. Kate softens a bit when she sees his bandages, but assumes that he got in a fight. When he tells her that he had a car crash, she asks if he's okay. Once she finds out that he is, she tells him that they are over and she is cutting her losses. He asks why she's still wearing his ring and then answers his own question. It's because she loves him. He walks out saying that he'll wait as long as it takes for her to forgive him.
Sonny returns home and finds Mike waiting for him. He wants to know why Clarice told him that the wedding is on hold when he called to RSVP for the rehearsal dinner. Sonny briefly explains what happened and Mike says that the one thing Kate was afraid of happened. Just then Kate storms in with news of a labor dispute that is suddenly threatening the printing of Crimson's premier issue. She accuses Sonny of using his mob ties to create the situation and tells him to stay away from her!
