In Elizabeth's hospital room, Lucky tells Jason that he'll always be grateful to him, but he doesn't get to make decisions for his family. As Jason starts to speak, they hear a very faint, "Jason" come from Elizabeth's direction. She has opened her eyes and Lucky rushes to her side and gushes about the wonderful life they have ahead of them. She asks what happened and Lucky fills her in on everything. Jason goes to find a doctor. Soon, Dr. Lee comes in to examine Elizabeth and afterwards, she pronounces her on the mend.
At Elizabeth's bedside, Kelly comes to Lucky (and Lulu) with the news that there is no indication that she will come out of this situation soon, or at all! She goes on to say that since the baby is healthy, he can go home. She asks Lucky who the baby can go with, since he's staying with Elizabeth. Lucky refuses to let anyone go anywhere until Elizabeth wakes up. Kelly says that rotating nurses are no substitute for bonding with a family member, but she'll agree…for now. After Kelly leaves, Lulu says that she, Bobbie and Carly can take care of the baby, but Lucky won't hear of it.
Lucky has spent the night in a chair next to Elizabeth's bed. Kelly comes in and says that Elizabeth's blood pressure is still dangerously low. Later, as Lucky sits beside Liz he sees Ric looking through the window. He comes in and tells Lucky that he heard about Liz and is checking in on her. When Ric learns that Jason was the one who found her and brought her to the hospital, his eyebrows raise. He asks Lucky if he can talk to her alone, so Lucky goes to see the baby. Ric tells Liz that he wanted another chance with her and that's why he planted drugs in Lucky's desk a few months ago. Her faith in Lucky won out in the end, he says. He takes her by the hand and tells her that she and Molly are the only people that he's let himself get close to. He begs her to hold on and promises that he'll never try to hurt Lucky again because she loves him.
Kelly tells Lucky that if Liz doesn't wake up soon, she never will. She wants to go over the test results with him and decide what to do next. Lulu sits with Elizabeth while he's gone. She tells her sister-in-law that she had no right to judge her and she understands, now, why she couldn't tell Lucky the truth about the baby. She begs Elizabeth to wake up because "…if you don't Jason will come forward as the father and that will kill Lucky." Lulu turns around to Lucky at the door.
Elizabeth has come out of surgery. Lucky is holding her hand and listening to what Kelly has to say. She reports that if the bleeding starts again, they'll have to do a hysterectomy to save her life. Kelly leaves the room, and Lulu watches as Lucky tells Liz that their son needs his mother.
Jason is watching as the drama unfolds during Elizabeth's c-section. The baby has been taken from her and isn't breathing, and Elizabeth has crashed. Elizabeth is defibrillated, but it doesn't bring her back. Finally the baby cries and Jason takes a big sigh of relief. It takes a while, but finally Elizabeth's blood pressure gets stronger and Kelly tells the team that they turned a corner.
Lucky brings a guy who hydroplaned into a tree into the hospital. As he's going back out to patrol the streets, Epiphany tells him that the power is out at Mercy Hospital, so they're going to have a busy night. Soon, Jason carries Elizabeth in. He tells Kelly that she has been unconscious for ten minutes. She orders an emergency c-section or else they could lose the baby AND Elizabeth. Jason follows Liz's bed as it rolls down the hall and into the elevator. He whispers to her to keep fighting and then she's gone.
At the hospital Dr. Lee tells Liz and Lucky to take it easy until next Tuesday when they plan to deliver the baby. Emily joins them and shares their excitement. Lucky goes down to get the car and Liz sits with Emily while she waits. As the two women talk about the labor and delivery, Liz gets an anxious look on her face.
From her hospital bed, Liz is telling Lucky and Lulu that it seems like the contractions are stopping. Just then Spinelli fumbles into the room with a video camera to record the birth. Lucky and Liz can't imagine why he would think that is okay with them. Lulu covers and says that it's her fault - she mentioned that she might like to see the birth. She takes him out in the hallway and tells him that it looks really weird for him to be hanging around for the birth. She tells him that she can feed him any information that he wants, but he needs to leave. She goes back into Liz's room and hears that Dr. Lee wants her to try walking around to see if the exertion triggers new contractions.
At the hospital, Lucky asks Kelly if it's too early for the baby to come. She says that it could be a false alarm, but they need to do more tests. It turns out that Liz is indeed in early labor. Kelly says that chances are the baby will survive, but it is better if she is able to carry it to term. They decide to try medication to stop the labor. Just then, Lucky gets a phone call that calls him into work because of the hit on Morgan and Corinthos. Liz looks worried as she hears the news.
