Maxi Sheds Some Light.

Stan and Sonny are talking in Sonny's office. Sonny says that he's going to use the hotel labor negotiations to buy time so that Carly can come to the realization that she doesn't want a divorce. Just then Lainey arrives for Sonny's scheduled therapy session. Sonny tries to blow her off because he has business with Stan, but she insists that she is the one with the appointment. Stan leaves and tells Sonny to call him when he's done with "the dictator." In his session with Dr. Winters, Sonny says that he just needs time to show Carly that they belong together. Lainey thinks that he has too much work to do on himself before he considers making a future with Carly. His little issue with forgiveness, for starters. He tells his shrink that Carly just slept with Jax, and asks how's that for forgiveness? Lainey asks if he can deal with it if his marriage does end in divorce.

Stan goes to the hospital to visit his mother (Epiphany). She asks him if he had anything to do with the cop shooting today. He says that he was in Sonny's office this morning and none of "Sonny's people" had anything to do with it. Epiphany chaffs at the term "Sonny's people" and asks him if that's what he is wasting his brilliant mind on. Dr. Winters approaches the nurse's desk and Stan gets some attitude and leaves.

Coming To Terms

At the hospital, Patrick confronts a nurse because he can't find a chart. The nurse quickly finds it, telling him that he was looking in the wrong place. Annoyed at how Patrick has been acting, she wonders what is wrong. Lainey comes over, asking if he wants to talk. Patrick doesn't see the point of talking things over and tries to get away from her. She suggests there may be more to the situation that Robin is telling him. As Patrick prepares to leave, Lainey stops him. Not wanting to be alone, he offers her tickets to the opera. She asks him to be patient because she is certain that Robin still loves him!

Patrick's New Lease on Life.

Lainey comes to visit Robin and learns the good news about Patrick's HIV status. Robin tells her that Patrick went off on a consult, with an old friend…a female friend. She worries out loud if now that he's not going to live under the fear of HIV that he'll want to womanize again. Lainey tells her that she's looking for trouble that doesn't exist, Patrick loves her. Lainey has to leave and Maxi comes home. Robin double talks with Maxi about men and how communicating with them is so hard. Just then, Patrick shows up with roses so Maxi goes upstairs. Robin asks how his consult was and why didn't he go out to dinner with his old friend? "Because she has a date with her grandchildren." And anyhow, he wanted to rush home to the woman he loves, Patrick tells a smiling Robin.

Fallout.

Ric goes back to the PCPD and finds Lainey in the interrogation room, having just visited a patient. She can tell that Ric is down and asks if he wants to talk about it. He says that all he's really wants to do is make sure he has a part in his daughter's life. When Lainey points out that the love of a mother AND a father is what's important, Ric says that Alexis has always favored Kristina. Ric tells Lainey that Alexis thinks he is projecting his abandonment issues on Molly. He acknowledges that as a brother, husband and DA he has made mistakes, but not as a father. He can't let anyone take his child away from him.

And So It Begins.

Luke tells Lainey that he's just spent a week in Paris with Laura's specialist. He's working on some new drugs and might be calling Shady Brook for information. Luke tells Lainey that it's nothing to get excited about, but to co operate if the doctor calls. (Scott has slipped out while Luke's back was turned.) Then, Luke goes in to see his angel.

Explosive Situations

Meanwhile Robin, Kelly and Lainey are not "licking whip cream off the abs of a stripper in Atlantic city" as Kelly would rather be doing. Instead, they are drunk and in handcuffs at the PCPD. Cruse comes in and asked what happened. Robin tells him that "the couch happened." Kelly flirts with him and Lainey asks if she can get out of the handcuffs, unless those are part of his plans for them for the evening. Robin says that Patrick Drake is the person who needs to be arrested. Make that Patrick and his "Peter Panny" attitude. Robin tells Cruse that she and the girls were simply drinking at the airport bar and a man hit on her. Cruse tells her she is under arrest because she scissor-kicked the guy off his barstool. Her response? "Should've been Patrick."

He said/She said.

Robin goes back to the hospital and tells Lainey that if she ever sleeps at Patrick's place again, she is to come drag her out by the hair. Lainey tries to help Robin sort through what's going on. Robin tells her that she feels that Patrick is testing her to see how demanding and clinging she can be – so he has a reason to dump her. "Sometimes a couch is just a couch," the shrink wisely says. Then Patrick comes into the hospital and tells Robin that they need to talk. They sit on in the lounge and he begins. "I'm not good at sharing my life with someone. I love you, but I'm swimming in deep water. If I do what I think you want me to do, you accuse me of bad things. If I do what I've always done, I'm guilty too. It's a no-win for me. I only see one way that I can win." Robin assumes that they are breaking up, but he reaches into his pocket and brings out a key.

It Must Be National Soul-Searching Day in Port Charles.

Robin has arrived at the hospital and Lainey hands over some mail that's been piling up for her at their apartment. Robin explains the couch scenario and how much she hates feeling like a pushy girlfriend all of a sudden. Lainey tells her to relax, she simply bought a couch. Robin says that she's the one who found the apartment, forced him to move in, filled it with her own stuff, and then bought a couch! She's disgusted with herself.

Alexis finds an ally in Sonny.

Dr. Lainey is evaluating Kristina while having a tea party that includes Alexis. Viola takes the girls into another room so that Lainey can talk to Alexis. The reason Kristina isn't talking again is because Alexis is clearly not well. Lainey tells her, whatever it was she was doing when Kristina spoke, keep it up. She tells Alexis to do whatever she can to pull herself together for her girls. After Lainey leaves, Alexis is clearly sick as she bundles up her girls to go to the movies and ice skating with Viola. As soon as they leave, she gets out a joint.
