She recalls how sad and alone she felt when he first adopted her, and how he was able to turn things around for her. She leaves and room and joins Edward who takes her in his arms and tells her to run as fast as she can…away from him (because of the the kind of man that he's become). Meanwhile, Tracy is yelling at Monica for giving up on Alan. Edward tells Tracy that they should follow Monica's advice and prepare for the inevitable.

Family, First

Friday, February 23 2007

In her hospital room, Sam is confused about "the truth" that Liz keeps talking about. Realizing that Jason hasn't told her about the baby, Liz tries to backtrack. She says Lucky proposed but she couldn't say yes. More confused than ever, Sam wonders why Liz can't forgive Lucky. "There is nothing standing in the way to you raising your child with the man you love," she says, and tells Liz that she would give anything to have the same with Jason. Liz is stunned when Sam reveals that she can't have kids - ever! She goes through their options, deciding that none of them are possible. With their pasts, she and Jason can't adopt; he wouldn't be interested in surrogacy options, either. Sam leaves and alone Liz wonders what she and Jason should do now.

In the hallway, Sam bumps into Edward who is in a forgiving mood. He tells Sam how sorry he is for how he has acted toward both Tracy and Alan. "In the end there is nothing more important than our children," he says. Uncomfortable, Sam tries to leave. Edward stops her, telling her he wasn't trying to gain an heir from her. He only wanted her to think about things. Sam tells him she is just tired. "Take some credit for your courage," Edward says as a news report comes on, hailing Sam as a hero.

In his hospital room, Alan asks for Jason again. He needs to speak with him and asks Monica to call him. "I don't want to mourn the son I lost anymore. I want to have a relationship with the man he is now," Alan says. Monica and Emily agree to find Jason for him. Outside, Emily bumps into Spinelli who tells her Jason is on a mission! Emily explains to Monica that Jason isn't at the hospital any longer. They hope he will return soon. Tracy arrives and heads inside. "If you're milking this to get Daddy's sympathy. . ." she says, and then smiles. "You scared the hell out of him and me!" she exlaims. With tears in her eyes, Tracy tells Alan that the whole family will be lost without him. Alan says not to worry - he'll be around to torture her for years! Edward comes in, promising a diet of bland, boring food for the rest of Alan's life. "You're a man filled with love and courage," Edward tells him emotionally. He tells Alan he is proud of him and smiles. Skye arrives and Monica grudgingly lets her in; Edward tries to head her off but Alan tells him to stop. Seeing he isn't getting anywhere, Edward leaves. Skye sits down, wondering why Alan is still talking to her. "How do you love me in spite of all the things I've done?" Skye asks. Alan tells her she is his family, as much as Emily, Jason an AJ are. Skye vows to stand by Alan throughout his recovery. She kisses him as Monica comes back in the room and then leaves. Weak, Alan asks Monica not to shut Skye out. Talking about their pasts, Monica tells him he is the love of her life. "Marrying you - both times - is the smartest thing I ever did," she says. Emily comes in, telling them Jason is on the way. Alan begins to have trouble breathing and Monica calls for a crash cart!

Deathbed Confessions.

Thursday, February 15 2007

The mood in Alan's room is heavy. Monica tells Edward that even though Alan had an angioplasty, the damage to his heart muscle was already done by the time they went into surgery. Then she leaves so that Edward can be alone with Alan. He tells Alan to wake up so that he can get the approval that he's sought all his life. In case he doesn't wake up, Edward tells him that he's proud of all he accomplished. Suddenly Edward looks older than he ever has as he tells Alan what he's never told him – that he's proud to be his father. Alice comes into the room and hears that Alan might be too weak to recover. She tells Edward that Dr. Q knows that the family loves and accepts one another, no matter how twisted (she says this as Tracy walks in) they all are.

Too Little, Too Late

Wednesday, February 14 2007

At the hospital, Edward brings Tracy coffee, but she's acting difficult as is her way when she's hurting. Edward talks about all the things that he did wrong when it comes to Alan. "How many men have a brilliant doctor for a son?" He admits that he's always treated his only son like an embarrassment. He figured he'd be able to make amends on his own death bed and tell Alan how proud that he's made him. It never occurred to him that Alan might die first. Tracy tells Edward that Alan will survive if only to spite her. She contends that Alan will never let her have their father's undivided attention. Edward admits that he should've listened to Lila all those years ago and spent more time with their children while they were young. Behind the surgery door, Dr. Ford asks Monica if she was aware that her husband had heart disease. Monica says that his cardiac tests always come back fine. "Your patient's heart is failing," he tells her.

Skye has come back to the hospital and is trying to explain to Edward and Tracy that she loves all of them. They won't cut her any slack and tell her that she is no longer a Quartermaine and that her baby is a disgrace to Lila's name. Monica and Dr. Ford come out to report that Alan arrested on the table and has considerable tissue damage, but he's still alive…via a ventilator. Monica tells them that she is normally so secure in the operating room, that's why she insisted on doing the surgery because she thought that was what Alan would have wanted. She admitted that when Alan flat lined, she froze because she knew she was going to lose him.

Luke Bargains for Lulu.

Tuesday, February 13 2007

At the Q's, Tracey, Alice, Edward and Dillon see that the hostage that has been released is Alan and he looks wounded. They all head to the hospital and are waiting in the GH lobby when he is brought in. Edward whispers in his son's ear that there is only room for one heart patient in this family. Skye tries to say something to Alan, but Monica calls her a bitch and tells her to get away from her husband. Then she explains to Edward and Tracy that if it weren't for Lorenzo Alcazar they would all be safe at home right now. Edward asks Skye if it's true but she runs off.

In the OR, Monica scrubs in to perform Alan's angioplasty and Dr. Ford objects. She pulls rank on him and says that she will be the one to operate on her husband. He tries to reason with her that she's too close to the situation to be objective in a crisis. She tells him to file a complaint if he needs to, but stop wasting her time. In the waiting room, the rest of the family quietly thinks about Alan. Especially Tracy. She tells Dillon that Skye will pay if her brother loses his life tonight. Edward vows to go after Alcazar.

Oh Alan!

Monday, February 12 2007

Monica and Edward are watching the Metro Court news on TV from home. Edward is upset and Monica is trying to keep him from getting too worked up. She reminds him that Nikolas is probably protecting Emily from harm. Alice adds that Mr. Luke is going to save them all. Tracy and Dillon arrive home and announce that the gunmen have agreed to release one hostage. As they wait, Dillon says that it's his fault that Lulu is in the lobby. He tells them that their plan was to steal Alan's PDA to see if his bank records can tie him to Rick Webber. Tracy thinks Lulu and Dillon are nuts for digging up an age-old case – to what end? Dillon says that even if Laura can never be cured, Lulu needs to help her mother. Edward says that Rick Webber deserved what happened to him, even if Laura didn't deserve to get blamed for it. For Monica's part, she admits that she loved Rick, but married Alan anyway. Then she comes to a realization, "As it turns out, it was Alan I belonged with all along." They talk about the affairs and remarriages that the Q family has endured. Dillon remarks that he always thought Monica and Alan were married out of convenience. Monica defends her marriage and tells Dillon to talk to her after he's been married for decades. Edward adds that he always knew that Alan and Monica were a good match. Monica walks up to him and smiles. She says that maybe she and Alan have a once-in-a-lifetime love similar to Edward and Lila's, after all. She picks up her coat and goes to the Metro Court so that she can tell Alan her feelings as soon as he gets out.

At the Q house, Tracy turns off the TV to keep Edward from getting too worked up. Edward says they are about to release a hostage, but they haven't mentioned Robin Scorpio. Surely it's not Alan or Emily, or Lulu, they agree. Then, Tracy changes the subject to family loyalty. She asks her father what if, hypothetically speaking; she knew that Alan did kill Rick Webber? She suspects that the family motto would be to keep the secret right? Edward concurs. He laughs and says that in that case she should simply blackmail her brother.
