Over at The Metro Court, Alexis is consulting with Jax about his divorce settlement. He's being a bit too generous for her taste. Carly has overheard a little and interrupts to clarify that she doesn't want the hotel in Montreal. Jax excuses himself to go talk with her. She clarifies that she'd rather keep The Metro Court because she doesn't want to move. Jax doesn't want to move either!
Nikolas arrives at The Metro Court at Carly's assistant's request. Jax finds him and tells him to back off of his idea to buy The Metro Court. Carly joins them and invites the two men to think outside the box. Nik wants to hear her thoughts, but Jax doesn't. Carly speaks anyway, "I'm thinking about selling half my shares of The Metro Court to Nikolas."
Carly and Jax bump into each other at work. She's racing out the door to get to the airport to catch a commercial flight to Montreal. Jax says that he's going to the same meeting, via his private jet, of course. He says it feels odd not to offer her a ride, but he wouldn't want to send her mixed signals (since they have had sex every single time they've taken the jet). Instead, he offers to fly commercial and give her the jet but she says she'll be just fine flying commercial.
Nadine has walked into The Metro Court and is surprised to see Carly sitting with Nikolas. Carly's fussing with his collar and teasing him for not letting his butler dress him this morning. Nik playfully tells her that there may be a job for her as his personal dresser after he buys The Metro Court. Carly contends that he just wants a 'new toy' to take his mind off of something else. He continues to deny it, and asks if she doesn't want to establish herself separately from Jax, especially with their divorce looming? Carly promises to think about it.
Later, Jax finds Carly and tells her that Nik is playing her. She says that he made a pretty good offer. Jax says that they're vulnerable because of the divorce, but Carly reminds him that he is the one who does corporate takeovers in similar situations. Jax can't see the parallel, so Carly assures him that she loves The Metro Court and doesn't want to sell. He, however, should be the one to sell to Nikolas. She explains that they won't have to trip over each other if he's gone. Jax doesn't want to sell. She reminds him that this is his chance for freedom from her and reminds him that is what he wants.
Olivia goes to The Metro Court and asks Carly if they can talk. She asks if Sonny was lying when he told her cousin that he was out of the mob. Carly says that is hard to answer, but explains that Sonny sold the business to Jason Morgan after their son was shot. She says that Sonny signed away his sons in order to keep them safe, and then gave up the business. She explains how Sonny felt betrayed by Jason and ultimately got involved with Karpov. Olivia has heard enough to feel that Kate had a big target on her back.
Later, Nikolas meets with Carly and asks if she would be interested in selling The Metro Court. She's surprised, and asks why he wants it. Nik says that her hotel looks like a jewel in the Port Charles skyline and he'd like to own it. Carly asks why he is so eager to go up against Jax?
Over at The Metro Court, Jax pulls himself away from his kiss with Carly. He clarifies that he wants to keep her and Morgan safe, but he doesn't want to get back together. He tells her that she's the most amazing woman he's ever met, but he can't get past her sleeping with Sonny. After he leaves, Carly does what she always does. She cries, and then calls Jason.
Jason comes to Carly's room and checks out the security situation. He tells her that he thinks she and Morgan are safe because the shooter wasn't going after Sonny. Kate was the intended target, he explains. He tells her about the Russian bullet, but that Karpov denies it. He says that Sonny wants him to take Karpov out, but he told him no because they don't have the facts. Carly says that Sonny will play on his loyalty until he gets him to agree. "When have you been able to refuse Sonny anything, even when he's wrong?" she asks.
Carly and Morgan have returned home from The Metro Court. She tries to explain why sometimes people near his father get hurt and that's why he can't spend time with him anymore. She says that Sonny loves him, but he doesn't have to worry about getting hurt like that. After Morgan goes upstairs, Jax shows up. He says that, after Kate, she and Morgan are the closest people to Sonny, therefore a target. Carly points out the window to Jason's men who are guarding them and Jax says, "Mob security is an oxymoron, I want to keep you safe." He tells her that he has booked a suite at their hotel for her and Morgan so he can keep an eye on them.
