Nikolas returns to Wyndemere and finds Nadine waiting for him. She quickly changes her mind about stopping by and tries to leave. He pulls her by the arm and says that the night they spent together was wonderful and he hasn't been that happy in a long time. They sit down and talk, and realize that they both are excited about what has started between them. They kiss and then start to peel off their clothes until Carly comes in and interrupts them.
The World According to Maximus.
At GH, Carly waltzes into Kate's room and finds her arguing with Olivia. They tell her that she should've knocked, but Carly reminds Kate that she talked to Sonny at her request. Then she reports that Sonny wouldn't budge and that he's intent on getting his revenge. Olivia pipes up and says that Sonny won't stop until he gets what he wants, and Carly says that Kate's cousin knows Sonny better than his fiancée does. Kate says that she'll be the person to get through to Sonny, and she wants to do it in private. Carly asks Olivia to go have a drink with her, and, as they walk out the door together, Kate spits that they have so much in common.
Olivia and Carly cozy up to The Metro Court bar and talk over beers. They talk about their respective relationships with Sonny, and Olivia asks to see a picture of Morgan. She stares at it and says that she can see a lot of Sonny in him. She asks how Sonny is as a father. Carly says that he's wonderful, except that Michael was shot because of the choices he made and she had to take sole custody to keep her boys out of more danger. Olivia comments that Sonny usually chooses women who are like angels, the kind he can put on a pedestal like his mother. However, she adds, when it came to choosing a mother for his children, he chose a strong woman like Carly who would keep his kids safe. Carly appreciates her insight.
Giambettis Versus the Russians.
The matter settled, Diane pours herself another scotch. Carly arrives looking for her 'boyfriend' Maxipoo. Diane tells Carly to can the ruse because the Giambetti boys aren't around. Then she adds that Carly was a tad too arduous toward Max for her taste anyway. Carly discounts her and marches right over to Jason. She says that they have a problem with Sonny. Diane excuses herself to go home and soak in a tub, and then Carly tells Jason that Kate asked her to talk to Sonny, but it did no good. Jason says that he was hoping Sonny would cool off until they could get more proof against Karpov.
Olivia and Kate are arguing over at GH. Kate says that after losing his boys, finding out about another son would do Sonny a world of good. Olivia admits that she fantasized about telling Sonny on her way to meet him in Bensonhurst before the wedding. She says that once she saw his designer suit, his thirst for power came screaming back at her and she changed her mind. She contends that Sonny will never leave the mob and that's the end of the topic. Kate doesn't see how she can keep a father and son apart. She urges Olivia to admit that Sonny's a good man, and reminds Olivia that she was the one who convinced her. Olivia says that she always knew Sonny was trouble and that's what she liked about him, but they've all grown up now. Kate asks if she's worried that she might tell him about Dante? Olivia says that she won't tell Sonny because he would hate her for not telling him sooner. As they debate the matter further, Carly steps into the room and says how much she loves hearing about family secrets.
Sonny Won't Listen to Anyone.
Kate has asked Carly to come to her hospital room. When she arrives, Kate tries to apologize to her for focusing on all the wrong things in the past. Carly isn't in the accepting mood and taunts Kate with her 'Connie Falconeri' background. Kate changes the subject and says that she really wanted to believe that Sonny was out of the mob. Then she asks Carly to do something for Sonny that she hasn't been able to accomplish. She asks Carly to talk Sonny out of going back into the mob. Carly tells Kate that she can't stand her, but she will talk to Sonny because he matters to her.
Carly shows up at Sonny's house and tells him not to avenge his phony fiancée. She wants him to let Jason handle it, but Sonny announces that his so-called friend Jason turned him down! He will handle this himself. Carly asks what she's supposed to tell Morgan if he gets killed? He won't let her dangle his son in front of him now, after taking him away from him before! He tells her to tell Morgan that his father will take care of everything.
And the Lie Just Keeps Getting Bigger.
But things are hardly status quo within the Morgan Organization at the moment. Carly flounders as she finds Max behind Jason's desk and Jason taking orders. Diane steps in to make the introductions, and Carly finally gets that Maximus needs to think that Max is the boss. Jason asks 'Mrs. C.' if she'd like anything to drink, and Max blurts out that Carly is his girlfriend, but she prefers to be called his 'little lady'. Diane is seething as Carly pushes her way into Max's arms for a big cuddle. She says that she really loves her big guy. Diane escorts Carly out and the second they are gone, Maximus tells his son to dump her so that he can have her.
Mac Did What No One Else Could.
At the Metro Court, Jax tells Nikolas to do them all a favor and back off. Nikolas reserves his right to make a sound investment. The two men get into their old baggage with one another (Nikolas stealing Courtney from Jax, Jax stealing Spencer from Nik, etc.) Jax turns to Carly and announces that he'll stop Nikolas's revenge no matter what she wants. He stomps off, and Carly asks Nikolas how she can know that he and Jax won't tear each other apart if they go into business together? You don't, is his reply. Then he lays out his ideas to use his cash influx to develop a yoga area for guests and Carly is impressed with his thinking.
When Max sees that his father's about to return, he urges Jason to let him sit behind the desk. Jason takes the stance of a bodyguard just as Maximus, Diane and Milo return from their stroll. Diane goes straight for a cocktail and Maximus tries to swat her rear as she walks by. Maximus orders Jason to get him a drink just as Carly walks in. She asks Jason what the heck is going on?
