Lucky is looking for Elizabeth at the hospital and Emily tells him that Liz is probably at the courthouse filing divorce papers. Maxi calls and tells him that she's in their "special place." She tells him that she's not scared…she loves him…and it's kind of like falling asleep. "What have you done?" he says and she cryptically hangs up the phone. Then, she swallows some pills.
Lucky breaks into the love nest above Kelly's Diner and finds a passed-out Maxi.
Lulu comes home to a bittersweet surprise.
Lucky tries to help Liz up, and Nicolas takes her away to the hospital. "Whether it was an accident or not, it happened because you are on drugs." You are ruining our lives. Glassy-eyed Lucky yells after her that he doesn't know if he can do this (kick drugs) without her.
A jittery Lucky fidgets around the apartment and then stalks out the door. At the hospital, her doctor tells Liz and Nicolas that the ultrasound shows that the baby is ok. The doctor and Nicolas warn Liz that she needs to tell Lucky that she's pregnant. Liz says he's not thinking clearly. Maxi walks in and overhears Liz tell Nicolas that she has to leave Lucky.
Elizabeth goes to her Gram's house and cries. Audrey questions her about what's gone wrong with Lucky? Liz explains about her husband's addiction to the pain killers from his back injury. Audrey tells Liz that she and Cameron can stay as long as they need to. But who's knocking at the door? Lucky, proclaiming that he needs to talk to his wife. Audrey opens the door, scolds him mildly, and tells him to come back tomorrow before she closes the door. Liz cries while Lucky yells through the door.
Lucky is pleading at Audrey's door. He reminds Liz of their wedding vows and that she has to live up to her promise to always listen to him. He swears that tomorrow is a new day, a fresh start. They're both crying on their respective sides of the door. She tells him that the marriage is over. She doesn't want him near her and her child (children). He slides down the door to the ground and cries.
Lucky slinks into his apartment and finds Maxi waiting for him, dangling a bag of pills. This is great, she says, we don't have to worry about being caught now. She won't give him the pills until he tells her that he cares for her. Back at Audrey's, Liz is leaving a message for her lawyer, asking if they can work of some kind of payment plan so they can go ahead and dissolve the marriage.
Lucky Refuses to Let Liz Leave Him
After making love to Maxi, Lucky awakes from a short nap and realizes it's a ½ hour from Lulu's abortion appointment. Maxi hands him some pills when at that moment in storms Nikolas smugly telling Lucky he's a damn fool and has just lost everything that has ever meant to him. An ashamed Lucky just looks away from him. Lucky gets dressed as Nikolas gives him the 3rd degree and lets him know that Elizabeth is leaving him tonight! Lucky tells him there's no reason for her to leave him unless Nikolas tells her what he just saw! Nik yells that Liz found more drugs, on the floor, in his jacket and she's had enough.
Lucky meets up with Maxi wanting more pills but Maxi holds her ground and wants something else first from him. Maxi pleads with him to meet her ½ way otherwise she'll assume he's been using her the entire time. Lucky grabs to kiss her and tells her she's the only thing that makes sense in his life right now.
Elizabeth shows Nikolas what she's found in Lucky's pockets and more. She asks Nik if Lucky ever went off the pills? He would like to think so but Nikolas is certain that the withdrawals became too much for him. An infuriated Elizabeth replies that she's leaving tonight and cannot have her child or the baby she's carrying to be around an addict.
Packing her suitcases, Elizabeth stops to look at her wedding picture of her and Lucky remembering their vows. She slams it against the wall and breaks down crying. As Lucky enters, Elizabeth sets him straight warning him that if he took those pills again, she was leaving and her son is utmost important. Lucky pleads with her that he can get better and yells how much he loves and needs her. Elizabeth refuses but Lucky grabs her threatening there's no way he's ever going to let her leave him! She pleads with him as she shakes in fear but Lucky starts yelling and throwing things around the room. Liz responds to his tantrum by removing her wedding ring refusing to listen to anymore promises. Lucky tries to put it back on as Liz refuses, fighting with him she falls to the floor unconscious.
Alexis Takes a Turn For the Worse
Elizabeth discusses the potential of the paternity results going over the dilemma she faces either way no matter who the father turns out to be. She's afraid because raising a child with an addict not what she wants to do. Liz's doctor starts to reply telling her that she needs to keep herself calm and stress free for her and her child. Lucky walks around at that moment overhearing them and he asks if something's wrong with Cameron. Liz stands up and replies that she's just concerned about him spending too much time away from her. Lucky tells Elizabeth that Lulu is getting an abortion and pleads with her to help talk her out of it. Elizabeth tries to explain to Lucky that she's made her choice and there's nothing more she can say.
Maxi Gets the Upper Hand Over Lucky
Elizabeth tells Maxi she's not interested in anything she has to say. Maxi tells her there's so much more she needs to know and starts by berating Liz. When it starts to get out of hand, Lucky steps in and yells at Maxi to stop and get out of his life. She glares at him and replies that she certainly won't forget it.
Lucky sits with Elizabeth to once again apologize for ever bringing that girl in between them. He's interrupted by a phone call from Edward stating to get over to the house because Luke has talked Lulu into having an abortion.
Meeting up with Maxi late that night and Lucky screams at Maxi to give him the damn pills. She hands him a couple and snips that she'll give him more after he sleeps with her!
