Patrick is sitting with Robin and talking about buying a house with a fence and maybe even getting a dog when she wakes up. He says that he likes being a family man and thanks her for opening up a new world for him. He tells her that he can't pull any of it off without her. Jason comes in and Patrick welcomes him into the room. When he explains the disorder, Jason recognizes the name of it because Sam had it a few years ago. He is quick to point out that Sam survived and Robin will too.
Anna fusses over Robin's bedding and talks about how amazing Patrick is being. Just then, he wheels Emma in and says that it's feeding time. He asks Anna to do the honors, but she gently tells him that he needs to figure it out. After she leaves, he gently picks his daughter up and places the nipple in her mouth. Emma immediately starts sucking from the bottle and Patrick tells her how good it must be. Robin's eyes have opened and all she can do is give a little smile. Patrick notices and says, "The family's all here."

At the hospital, Kim orders Patrick to start CPR and then orders everyone else from the room. They watch from the door as Patrick, Kim and the other doctors work to save Robin. After they have Robin's pressure back up, Kim tells Patrick he has to go now. Matt leads him from the room. Anna and Mac ask what is going on; Spinelli and Maxie watch from a few feet away. Patrick can't talk so Matt tells them that Robin's blood won't clot and they might lose her. "No, we won't," Anna says and stalks away. Mac sits down and Spinelli offers to get him something to drink in his Spinelli way. Mac turns him down and starts talking about Robin and Patrick. "She's come close to happiness and something has always happened to take it away," he says. Spinelli tells Mac that Robin is strong and will be okay.
Patrick stands over Emma in the nursery and introduces himself. He whispers her full name – Emma Grace Scorpio Drake – and tells her how much she is loved and wanted by both of her parents. He says he doesn't know how to be a dad; Matt walks in and listens. "I probably shouldn't tell you this, but without your mom, I don't think I can pull this off," he says. Matt comes inside and asks about the baby; Patrick says she is fine and offers to give Matt some time with her but he says no. He turns to go but Patrick stops him, wondering how he can be a father. He tells Matt about the patient he and Robin lost last summer. Matt says Robin is getting the best care available. Patrick says without Robin, he would become a workaholic dad. Matt tells him that Robin isn't dead and says he will figure out how to be the best father for Emma. Patrick worries about that because of Noah's example. Matt says he just has to put Emma first. Patrick walks down the hall to Robin's room. He says Emma is perfect but he is scared that he won't be a good enough father for her. "You're the answer to everything," he says and tells her he loves her.
Emma's Bittersweet Birthday
Things are tense in the delivery room as everyone waits to hear Robin's baby's first cry. Finally, she does and Kelly announces that she's healthy. After a big sigh of relief, the proud mom and dad hold their little girl. Epiphany allows Anna, Mac and Maxie in so they can all be together. Patrick jokes that the baby's name is Millicent, but then tells Robin to do the honors. She announces little Miss Emma Grace Scorpio Drake. When Patrick holds her for the first time, his face grows somber as he says that she has a tiny nick on her ear. Robin's face falls because she realizes that could mean the baby was exposed to HIV.
Patrick sits with Robin as the baby is whisked off for an AZT test, as well as a blood draw. Robin is enormously worried about what kind of life her little girl will have if exposed, and Patrick promises that she'll have all the love and support a person could have.
Soon, Epiphany brings Emma back for her first bottle and gives Robin and Patrick some quiet time with their baby. Robin apologizes to her in case she contracted HIV, but Patrick tells his daughter that her mother is a pillar of strength to be counted on. Robin collects herself and promises to give her daughter a life full of courage.
Cliffhanger Monday!
Things are tense in Robin's labor and delivery room. Kelly explains that, although the baby's heart rate is dropping a C-section isn't going to be easy because of the baby's position. Kelly fears that cutting right through the placenta might cost Robin too much blood. They decide to wait just a little longer and hope the baby's distress corrects itself.
Anna is allowed to go see Robin, so she puts on a brave face. She tells Robin that she's nearly a mother now and she needs to give her baby all of her strength. After Anna is asked to leave, Robin calmly tells Patrick that her mother is right. She tells him to save the baby instead of her if it comes down to that.
Back at GH, the baby's heart rate is down to 60, and Kelly has to do an emergency C-section. Patrick holds Robin's hands and tries to keep her calm, but they can hear Kelly and Liz talking about how much Robin is bleeding. Patrick begs Robin to stay with him, but she can barely keep her eyes open. Finally, Robin stabilizes and Kelly reaches the baby. They pull her out, but she doesn't make a sound.
