Milo gets on stage to introduce Mac and Patrick who come out with their shirts unbuttoned and collars flipped up singing The Village People’s “Macho Man.” Coleman stops them and does his own rendition, much to Kate’s delight. The three men then get the whole crowd involved, except Jason who of course wants nothing to do with singing or dancing.
Not Bound By Society's Rules.
As shock washes over the wedding guests, Spinelli tells Maxie this is the wrong time for her to get married. To prove his love is deep and true and not bound by society's rules, he vows to not become her husband. Maxie beams as he begs her to not become his wife. Mac smiles and falls to the floor. Patrick and Robin check on Mac, and Robin says she thinks he has passed out in relief. Mac wakes up and says he never felt better. Maxie tells Spinelli he made her believe in herself. She loves him more than anything and wants to spend the rest of her life with him. She wants to marry him, just not right now. Mac exclaims, “Thank you God!” Maxie continues to tell Spinelli he will always be her essential person and Father Coates pronounces them ‘not’ man and wife and they kiss.
Patrick and Robin bask in their own love and see a drunk Mac dancing with a reluctant Alexis. Robin has never seen Mac so happy and Patrick says he’s never seen Alexis so mad.
Patrick notices Robin and Coleman plotting something, but she won’t tell him what’s going on.
Maxie and Spinelli prepare to cut their fancy cake courtesy of Kate, who didn’t realize the reception would be at Jake’s. Coleman flirts with Kate and then conspires with Robin again. Patrick wants to know what’s going on, but Robin still won’t tell.
Speaking From the Heart.
Patrick helps a concerned Mac get ready for the wedding. Aside from his other concerns, Mac thinks Maxie is way too young to be married and says if he gets past this day Patrick can throw him in Shady Brook.
At Rice Manor, Mac continues to worry about Maxie to Patrick, as Spinelli and Jason show up. Spinelli thanks him for giving his consent and assures him he will act with Maxie’s best interests at heart. Mac tells him if he really means that then he should call off the wedding. Mac walks away and Patrick apologizes for Mac. Spinelli is not offended and Jason reminds him to speak from his heart and he’ll be fine.
Mac doesn't know how he is going to give his little girl to Spinelli and Patrick gives him some tough love, ordering him to support Maxie on the biggest day of her life just like he did with Robin.
Detective Falconeri.
At the hospital, Spinelli tells Patrick Mac’s permission is important to him because it’s important to Maxie. Patrick suggests he stay away from Mac and he and Robin will take of him. He thinks in time Mac might come around and Spinelli asks if there’s hope. Patrick says there’s hope for a miracle.
At Robin’s house, Maxie goes on about how she doesn't want to get married, but she doesn’t want to do anything that will hurt Spinelli. Robin tells her she needs to be honest with herself. Maxie wishes Mac didn’t hate Spinelli so much and Robin says Mac will never think anyone is good enough for his girls. As Maxie continues to insist she has to get married, Spinelli and Patrick come in and Spin takes Maxie to the wedding rehearsal. After they leave, Patrick asks what Robin thinks and she says, “Not good.” He asks if she will go through with it and Robin responds, “We’ll see.”
