As Kristina looks on, Alexis addresses Mayor Floyd’s accusations to the press. Robin and Patrick convince Kristina to leave with them, as Alexis says she will recuse herself from the case, but not as district attorney. The mayor claims his innocence before Mac has him booked. Alexis sees Patrick and asks where Kristina is. He tells her Robin is with her getting a cab and they discuss the Brianna case.
Mac tells the mayor his wife posted bail and Alexis talks with Patrick and Robin about Brianna’s injuries. Alexis tells the doctors her affair with the mayor was just one night, after she found out she had cancer and saw Ric and Sam having sex.
Robin and Patrick are unsure that Mayor Floyd is a killer and wonder if someone else killed Brianna.
Alexis is so Busted!
Spinelli, Maxie, Robin and Patrick come to the police department and tell Mac and Alexis Brianna’s death was probably a murder. They lay out their evidence and Mac overlooks the fact that Spinelli hacked into the bank accounts, while Alexis thinks it isn’t that strange for a cheating husband to give his mistress money. Spinelli doesn’t think the mayor is the guilty party, based solely on the fact that he is the first suspect, but Mac wants to pursue it. Alexis says they need to investigate further and goes to the judge to get a warrant issued immediately.
Mac says they will need statements from Patrick and Robin so the case is airtight. Spinelli thinks they are rushing, but Mac says he is doing it by the book. Maxie leads Spinelli away and Kristina shows up looking for her mother.
Birthright.
At the hospital, Robin and Patrick tell Epiphany they think Brianna was murdered. Andrea comes up to them and says she is afraid if the lawsuit goes forward, her husband’s career won’t survive the scandal. Robin thinks most scorned women wouldn’t be so concerned about it, but Andrea tells them she once had her own goals, but gave them up for her husband’s. Patrick is more concerned about his and Matt’s career.
Patrick and Robin go to the mayor’s office, who isn’t receptive to them. Patrick says they want to find out what really caused Brianna’s head injuries. Patrick tells him Brianna’s injury doesn’t match his story and he’s shocked to learn Brianna suffered two blows to the head. Patrick supposes the mayor wanted her death to look like an accident. The mayor insists he was in love with Brianna, so he couldn’t have killed her. He explains how he was disillusioned after getting into politics and his marriage was grounded in mutual ambition, but that fell flat for him too. He says he was going to leave Andrea for Brianna and if she was murdered, he wants to know who did it.
Back at the hospital, Patrick says he believed the mayor, but Robin isn’t so sure. They overhear Andrea yelling at Matt accusing him of killing Brianna and therefore ruining her husband’s career.
Pants Optional.
At their house, Robin and Patrick go through Brianna's autopsy report and learn there were no drugs in her system. Robin goes to put Emma to bed and leaves Patrick to pour over the report.
Patrick calls Maxie to come over and asks about Spinelli working on Brianna's case. Maxie notes Robin isn't there and he says she's with Emma, so who knows how long she'll be. Maxie points out Robin didn't even want to touch Emma, but now he can't pry the baby out of her hands.
