Aloha.

Johnny sits with Maxie as she gets checked out, as Spinelli wheels in feeling guilty. Johnny notes Spinelli sent him a text to tell them where they were so he could help them and Maxie thanks the Jackal for doing so. They go outside the room and Spinelli wonders why he lied about the text. Johnny says it was no big deal, but suggests he leave his girlfriend at home next time he tracks a serial killer. Spinelli admits he made up the serial killer to make him look more daring, and worries he jeopardized Maxie's health. Back in the room, Robin tells Maxie if she gets pneumonia, it could be life threatening.

Trust.

Upstairs at the Metro Court, Maxie puts down the knife and tells the chef she thought he was someone else. He walks away and Maxie says to herself her Jackal is about to become his worst nightmare.

Maxie returns to Spinelli in the lobby of the Metro Court and tells him she trailed the chef and held him at knifepoint. Spinelli says it's probably too dangerous for her to proceed, but she vows to stay by his side the entire time.

Dante goes to Lulu's apartment and starts kissing her as soon as she opens the door. He tells her he just walked in on Jason and Sam and wonders why they've waited so long. He picks her up and carries her to the couch where they continue to make out, until Maxie walks in to change for her stakeout. After she leaves, the couple gets interrupted again, this time by Ronnie, who needs Dante to go see Sonny with him. After Dante has left, Carly comes by to ask Lulu to get Dante to show some sympathy towards Sonny in front of the jury. Lulu can't do that and Carly understands, but warns her Sonny will wear Dante down at some point. Lulu hopes not, but Carly thinks somewhere deep inside, Dante wants Sonny to be his father.

Maxie and Spinelli go to the storm drain where they had their first adventure before their love fully blossomed. Spinelli wants to reminisce, but Maxie gets freaked out by rat. Spinelli tells her he ruptured his Achilles tendon and then the gate closes on them and they find themselves trapped.

Easy Fixes.

While on their stakeout at the Metro Court, Spinelli pretends to worry about Maxie's safety, but she isn't fazed. He ramps up the details of his case making it seem more dangerous. Maxie gets a call from Kate, but she tells her boss she can't come into work due to a life or death situation. After she gets off the phone, Spinelli continues to convince Maxie of the gravity of the case and then gets a call. While Spinelli is distracted, the chef, who Maxie thinks is a serial killer, walks off the elevator and Maxie trails him to another floor. He invites her to his place, but she grabs a butter knife and says, "Back off, serial killer."

Retaliation.

At Jake's, Johnny denies he was the one on the roof, when Lucky confronts him. Maxie and Spinelli watch the action from their table and Spinelli gets a call from Jason. Maxie is proud of him for always being there for the big bad Jason, as a burly man walks into Maxie as she starts to walk away. Spinelli wants to challenge him, but Maxie defuses the situation. Back at the bar, Lucky asks Johnny to tone things down or else innocent people will get hurt. Ethan joins them and Lucky says he won't let Johnny take Ethan along on his suicide mission.

Dark and Reckless is So Last Year.

At Jake's, Maxie waits for Spinelli and for their night of Honky Tonk lovin', as Johnny limps in and orders a bottle of whiskey. Maxie walks over and asks if he's hurt, but he says he hasn't felt this good in a long time. Spinelli shows up and tells Maxie about what happened at Bernie's office and realizes the perpetrator was Johnny because of his limp. He fears to Maxie that Johnny will end up destroying himself, but Maxie understands he needs to make Sonny pay for his sister. Maxie thinks Johnny's level of devotion to his cause is inspiring. At the bar, Coleman reminds Johnny Jake's is neutral ground so he doesn’t want any problems, but warns going up against Sonny could be hazardous to his health. Ethan joins Johnny at the bar and learns he didn't get in the door to get the cash. Johnny adds that Lucky stopped him, but he got exactly what he wanted. Johnny thinks this will make Sonny scramble to move a major piece of his business, which will take a lot of time and major resources. Ethan goes off to find Bernie's secretary, whom he was impressed with, as Spinelli worries Maxie is still drawn to dark and reckless men. She assures him that is so last year and that nothing is more badass than a jackal. Johnny then sees Lucky standing at the end of the bar in the mask he used while tampering with Bernie's office.

Proceed With Caution.

Maxie comes to see Dante in his hospital room to find out if he really loves Lulu or if he's a player like his dad. He declares he loves Lulu, but Maxie grills him about his past, which he doesn’t feel is any of her business. She thinks he's really good at lying and wonders if it's a talent that lies in his Corinthos genes. Dante demands she never compare him to Sonny. He is okay with her asking about his actions, but she needs to leave Sonny out of it because he's nothing like him and wants nothing to do with him. Maxie has mother issues herself and knows she's a lot like Felicia, so he could be like Sonny as well. Dante thinks people make their own decisions about how to treat people and he learned from his mother that you don't tell someone you love them if you don’t really mean it. Maxie tells him if he's lying and just stringing Lulu along, she'll make sure he ends up miserable and alone. Maxie leaves and Lulu comes to see Dante and learns Maxie was there questioning him. He in turn learns Tracy is worried he will be just like Sonny. Lulu knows Tracy is right about Sonny and he wonders if she's worried about him as well. Lulu admits she's gun-shy and worries it won't last. He offers to give her tips on figuring out how to detect when someone is lying and she can ask him anything she wants. He goes over the basics and she starts to playfully quiz him with some basic questions and then asks if he loves her. He says no, but then smiles and pulls her in for a kiss.

Spinelli comes downstairs in the penthouse to work on Sonny's case with Sam. As they talk, Jason comes home and instructs Spinelli to look for security footage of the shootout. He says he has one possible lead, but he really hopes he's wrong about it. Once Jason has left, Spinelli gets footage of Johnny's car leaving the scene and matches the shell casing to his weapon of choice. He worries about how Jason will react, as Sam wonders why Johnny all of a sudden wants to go after Jason and Sonny. Spinelli thinks it's out of retribution for Claudia and worries it will result in dire consequences. Maxie comes over and finds Spinelli alone and plants a kiss on him. She loves him because he's honest and trustworthy and tells him she's worried about Lulu getting her heartbroken by Dante. Spinelli thinks Lulu has to make her own decisions, but Maxie wants to protect her friend. Maxie is glad she doesn’t have to worry about that with Spinelli and he says that's what happens when you find your soul mate and they kiss.
