And So It Begins.

Carly is trying to comfort Jax out on the waterfront. She says that she knows how badly he wanted to believe in his brother and expresses her concern for his grief over losing him tonight. He says that he offered Jerry a better life and asks if that sounds familiar? Carly promptly defends her giving Sonny an alibi. Jax says that she'll always be there for Sonny and he can't trust her. Then he says that he can't do this right now because he is thinking about Jerry.

Maxie brings Kate home from the hospital. Kate sits while Maxie lights a fire and wistfully says that she was supposed to return here as Mrs. Sonny Corinthos. Soon, Jax comes by, and Maxie goes back to the office. Jax tells Kate about Sonny's alibi, but Kate says it's a lie. Jax says that's not even the issue, but Carly and Sonny's bond is why he's done. Before he leaves, he suggests that she come to the same conclusion about Sonny.

Port Charles Loses an Angel and a Devil.

Jax has followed Carly down to the PCPD and told her that if she refuses to provide Sonny an alibi they might still have a chance together. Seconds later, Mac brings Sonny and Diane out of the interrogation room and asks Carly about Sonny's whereabouts the night that Karpov was killed. "He was with me," Carly says after a brief pause. Mac isn't satisfied, so he asks what they were doing. Carly holds off as long as she can, but finally says that they were having sex. Sonny closes his eyes in shock, but Jax just shakes his head and leaves. Diane tells Mac to get Sonny's release papers ready.

Detective Harper is waiting for Jax on the waterfront. After Jax asks what this is about, the detective tells him that a freighter called 'The Gibraltar' blew up in the harbor tonight and it was leased to Jerry. He says that they haven't found any bodies, but they did find Jerry's passport.

Carly finds Jax on the waterfront and says that she'll wait while the police look for Jerry. Jax says there's no need because the boat blew to bits. He tells her that he lost her and his brother on the same day. Then, his phone rings, but no one is there. He thinks it's Jerry.

Laura Comes Home.

Jax stops Carly on her way into work to show her the newspaper. He says that since Sonny has been arrested for the murder of Karpov she likely wasn't lying to him about the non-sexual nature of her time with him last night. Carly asks what he wants from her and Jax asks if she loves him or is too wrapped up in Sonny's world to know for sure? He says that he misses her all the time, but he won't be second to Sonny. He asks if she and Sonny are done in every possible way? Carly says that other than helping Sonny when he's in trouble, she's all his. Jax turns and walks away.

Another Kiss Goodbye.

Jason has gone to Jax to inform him of what his big brother has been up to where Sam is concerned. Jax doesn't buy it for a minute.

Jax does, however, go over to Carly's house and delivers divorce papers. She is shocked because she thought he was ready to give their marriage another chance.

You Did This!

At Carly's, Sonny tells her not to call anyone. She says she'll do what she wants but doesn't make any calls. She brings up Jax, worried that he won't forgive her, and Sonny tells her to go after Jax. Carly goes off on a tangent about Kate and how worthless she is. Then, she says she can't go after Jax. She says he needs a doctor. He arrives and assesses Sonny's wounds; he says they don't have to worry about the water in his lungs. She makes him soup and forces him to eat. She tries to get him to let her call Jason but Sonny refuses; she says he is in danger but he won't listen. Carly goes back to the kitchen and returns with lukewarm water so she can give him a sponge bath to help his fever. "This is a hell of a way to spend your birthday," Sonny says. He brings up past birthdays and they talk about Michael. "He was so happy," Carly says. Jax returns home and sees them through the window!

Emma's Bittersweet Birthday

Carly has Sonny tucked in on her couch, but Jax is at the door! She carefully pulls Sonny to his feet and stashes him in the next room. When Carly finally opens the door, she finds the one thing she's been hoping for - her husband. He tells her that he was driving by and saw the lights and she explains that she's just checking on the house. He buys her story, and then tells her how much he misses her. He asks if she had to choose between him and Sonny, who would it be? Carly says that she wants to spend the rest of her life with him and that Sonny is her past. He suggests that they have dinner, but finally she is able to convince him that tomorrow night would be best.
