Love Is An Illusion!

At the Quartermaine's Alice, Edward and Monica are plotting against Tracy. Tracy arrives and angrily yells at Monica about changing meeting dates and times. She turns to Edward and says he would have seen what Monica was doing if he wasn't meddling in ELQ business. Then, she turns on Alice and tells her to do her job – which includes fresh ice on the bar. Alice runs to do her bidding. Monica and Edward hurry away. Alan appears and says life without Luke is bleak. She says she is moving on – without Luke! He tells her to go to Luke but she refuses. Later, Luke arrives and Edward asks him to move back in! Luke wonders what is going on. Edward says he was talking with Monica and Alice and they all think this is the right thing to do for Tracy; Luke asks what is really going on. "My daughter is a horrible, wretched woman and losing you has put this on a whole other level," Edward says and offers Luke anything he wants just as long as he makes up with Tracy. Tracy walks in and says she will have Luke arrested! She calls Edward senile and says she doesn't love Luke and is tired of being the back-up wife. Luke is about to leave when Monica, Edward and Alice walk in and beg him to stay. They make Luke comfortable, annoying Tracy. "This could work for you, Wife," Luke says, "because misery loves company!" Alice gives Luke a pedicure and places Edward's slippers on Luke's feet. Edward starts to object but Luke mentions returning to the Haunted Star and he backs off. Luke requests lobster for dinner and Alice hurries to the kitchen. Tracy returns and calls to have the Q jet prepared for a trip to the Dominican Republic – and a quickie divorce!

Let's Hear It For the Boys.

Nikolas is on a park bench wistfully watching couples walk by. Before long, Emily appears and takes his hand. He promises that he won't back out of today's surgery because she convinced him that he needs to go on for Spencer's sake. They laugh and recall their first kiss that took place in the same park. Nik says that he was honored that she loved him from such a young age and she reminds him that she will always love him. He breaks down and she reminds him not to let his memories get in the way of his new life. She promises that when he dies many years from now she'll be waiting for him.

Back at GH, Nik's surgery is about to begin. As he goes under anesthesia, Emily tells him that she loves him. Patrick gets his first look at the tumor he tells his team that if the patient had waited another week he would've been dead. He is able to remove the entire mass and Nik is taken to recovery. (As he sleeps, Emily's ring is lying in his hand.)

Beginnings.

Emily is beaming as Nikolas twirls her around the ballroom at Wyndemere. He tells her how much he regrets the times when he hurt her, but she tells him that their good times far outweighed the bad. As she tells him that he is her teenage fantasy come true, he seems full of regret. She does her best to convince him that they ended up where they did because they are human, but they loved each other completely in spite of everything. She urges him to honor what they shared by going on without her. He starts to panic and says that he doesn't know how. She gently tells him to raise his son, meet someone and allow himself to love again. Through his tears, he protests that his heart is too full of love for her. She tells him to "stay open" and fill his life with meaning by having other children. She wants him to have a daughter and when she falls in love, he is to tell her about their love. Finally…reluctantly, he agrees to live for her and keep her in his heart for the rest of his life.

Nuts or Not Nuts, That is the Question.

Nik finds Nadine in his stables and tells her that Emily never showed up last night. She assures him that she always shows up at some point and then tells him to saddle up. After they ride, Nadine tells Nik that she'd like to cook dinner for him. He says that he should be doing something nice for her because she's been so good to him. In any case, after the surgery is over, he says that he would love to have dinner with her. After she leaves Nik puts on a suit and rattles around Wyndermere in hopes that Emily will appear. She does.

Diane Gives Spinelli a Pep Talk.

"I'm done doing business with you," Nik tells Dr. Devlin out at the Spoon Island stables. Dr. Devlin reminds him that he will no longer see his beloved Emily without his drugs and then cuts his price in half. Nik tells him that he needs to accept his decision or else he'll turn him into the medical board. After Devlin leaves, Emily is very proud of Nik for making the right decision. He's not so sure that he hasn't made a mistake but she reminds him that he lost her in November the rest has been his imagination. He cries as he recalls the first time he met her and how much they've grown since then. He mentions her cancer and their divorce and laments that when they finally get back on track, it's over. She tells him that as long as he's alive, they are not over!

Faulty Brakes.

Emily finds Nikolas out with the horses and comments on the wild ride he just took with Nadine. He jokes that being reckless is one benefit of knowing that you're dying. She starts to argue with him about having the surgery but he kisses her. Then she starts to tell him how much Spencer needs him but has to stop because Devlin shows up with news of a new drug that will keep him alive AND seeing Emily indefinitely. Emily takes it all in as Devlin asks for another ten million dollars. Nik sighs and then tells him no.

Plenty of Blame to Go Around.

Nikolas and Emily are lying together on his sofa. He tells her that the drugs are working because he hasn't had any blackouts, and she points out that he is seeing her less because he knows this is wrong. He asks what's so wrong with wanting to share his life with her? She says that he's lying to everyone and is so afraid to live without her that he's willing to die. He tells her that he doesn't have anything without her in his life. They both cry at the thought of it, but she tells him that he has to let her go.

Back at Wyndemere Nik begs Emily not to leave him. Nadine barges in to tell him they need to get a few things straight! She tells Nik that he's throwing his life away on a fantasy and starts throwing (toy) train pieces at "Emily" in order to prove that she's not really there. Finally, Nik admits that Emily told him that she won't be around anymore. Nadine tells him that at least the dead woman and he worked it out. She calls him obsessed and berates him for ruining their great afternoon together. On her way out the door, she turns her ankle on one of the toys. Nik puts her on the couch and tells her to spend the night.

After Denial Comes Rage.

Nik and Nadine have gone into Wyndemere and are attempting to put together a train for Spencer's birthday. She asks for a Phillip's head and Nik has no idea what she's talking about. He beckons Alfred, who is busy breaking in the new chef. (Nadine clearly had no idea the extent of Prince Cassadine's life of luxury. She learns that he attended private schools and she decides to give him a crash course of everything he should've learned in high school.) Soon the train is together and they bring Spencer out to see it. Nik is clearly having fun and Emily appears to nod approvingly from the corner of the room. He quickly asks Nadine to leave and has the nanny come get Spencer. Nadine realizes that Nik sees Emily and promptly leaves.
