Patrick stops by Lucky's house to see how Liz's doing since Jake's kidnapping. He's brought a couple toy cars for Cameron to play with, but they're little comfort to Liz. She's wracked with guilt and admits to Patrick that her relationship with Jason put her son at risk. Her voice cracks as she explains how he was taken right in front of Cameron and now he feels like he did something wrong. Patrick looks almost as devastated as Liz does as she belabors the fact that she put her needs ahead of her family's safety. Suddenly she asks him to stay with Cameron because there's somewhere she needs to go. When Lucky comes home, Patrick explains and says that he's worried about Liz. Lucky asks him to stay and goes after her.
Liz rushes into to her art studio and her head is filled with memories of herself begging Jason to spend time with her. She starts to slash a family portrait that she had been working on. Lucky rushes up the stairs and into the room to find her trembling with the knife in her hands. She hands it over to him and falls into his arms.
Liz and Lucky are at the PCPD looking through mug shots when Sasha arrives. Liz wants to go after her, but Mac whisks her into the interrogation room first. Once inside, Sasha proceeds to deny knowing anything about Jake's kidnapping. On her way out, Liz screams at her and Sasha says that this is her own fault. Later, Lucky tells Liz that he is partly to blame because he chose a cabin for them to go to and it wasn't guarded. Liz says that she's the one who put her own needs ahead of her boys.
Back at the cabin, Liz is huddled in a corner with Cameron. As she tries to comfort him, she almost jumps out of her skin when someone starts pounding on the door. Once she realizes that it's Lucky, she lets him in and explains everything that happened. Lucky thanks her for saving Sam, but she reminds him that she killed a man and now their son is gone.
Once Cameron is tucked in bed, Liz comes downstairs and tells Lucky that he was right all along about Jason being too dangerous for her. She says that she put her wants before her children and now her baby is gone.
Patrick starts sniffing around Liz, who doesn't bite until she learns that Carly dumped him and he's free. So, after tossing around some cheesy lines such as 'what's a nice girl like you doing in a dump like this?' she agrees to go to the stockcar races with him. They have a fabulous time together, but ultimately she dumps him because she needs to find a man who wants to be a father to Cameron.
Sam returns fire through the cabin window as Liz tries to get to her boys. Sam pulls her to the ground and explains that they want the Russians to think that they're dead. Liz is worried that they'll come inside to check, but Sam hopes they do. Cameron is calling for Liz, and footsteps are drawing near the cabin. When a Russian enters the cabin, Sam shoots to kill. After they drag the dead guy away from the door, they wait in order to buy some time for Jason or Lucky to show up and help out. Liz asks Sam how she can do this so effortlessly and Sam explains how she grew up trying to get the attention of her father and this was how. When Cameron calls for Liz again, Sam tells her that if things get ugly she should take the kids out the window and run for it. As soon as Liz is behind the bedroom door, another Russian comes in and overtakes Sam. A second later, he's dead from a bullet from Liz's gun. Liz is freaked out, but Sam tells her that she was only defending her children.
Jason calls Bernie while he drives out to check on Liz and Sam. The line goes dead and it's not because his cell lost the signal. When he pulls up to the cabin, Sam rushes out to the car and tells him that the Russians took Jake. The look on his face matches Liz's in that they've just realized their worst fear.
Sam goes inside the cabin and tells her to take the boys to play in the bedroom because there are fewer windows in there. Liz hustles them out of the room as Sam turns out the lights and reaches in her bag for her gun. Then, she gets Liz to help her barricade the windows with mattresses.
Back at the cabin, Liz's boys have fallen asleep in the back room while Liz and Sam stand guard. Sam offers Liz a handgun or a shotgun and Liz nervously takes the handgun and gets a little lesson from Sam. She asks Sam if she can put their differences behind them and put the boys' safety first. Sam promises to lay down her life for them. Liz nervously asks why she doesn't seem more afraid and Sam says that her senses are more alive and although she's scared, she's not afraid to fight either. Liz thinks the Russians might have left, but she quickly changes her mind when a shot breaks a window.
