At the hospital, Patrick brings in Robin but is asked to wait outside her care room. Elizabeth sits with him.
Jax is a Miracle Worker.
Robin peeks into the doctors' lounge as Liz is talking to Patrick about stepping up and helping with his baby. Finally, she can't take it any more so she steps inside and announces that Liz is wrong. She assures Patrick that he doesn't have to get involved because she has the single mom thing under control. Later Liz apologizes for getting involved and Robin tells her that she was just acting as a friend.
Off on an Adventure!
Later Liz finds Robin in the doctor's lounge crying. Robin says that even though Stacy died from a ruptured placenta and not her HIV status, her baby will grow up without a mother. She ponders her own mortality and says that she doesn't want her baby to grow up alone. She wipes her tears and says that she had better get a will ready.
Liz finds Patrick and apologizes in advance for interfering. She tells him that there are so many parents out there who would love to be with their children, and he's giving up the privilege to raise his child with the woman he loves. Patrick reminds her that Robin is determined to do this on her own and Liz says it doesn't mean she wants to.
Case Closed.
Lucky goes into GH and asks Liz if she and the boys have dinner plans. She graciously discards the plan for fish sticks at home in favor of a family dinner at Kelly's.
On Jason's way out, he passes Lucky, Liz and the boys. He looks longing at Liz and she tells him that she should go inside.
Without Power, Who Is He?
Liz is about to go on her break when Sam asks if they can talk. She gingerly admits that they have never been friendly and that she is largely responsible for that. Liz listens as Sam says that she would love to be able to at least be in the same room with Cam and Jake when Lucky has them. She says that maybe Spinelli could hook up an ankle monitor or she could have supervised visits at first. Liz laughs and says that she'd like to think she's not that judgmental, but she has been in the past and apologizes for it. Liz says that in time she can allow it, but for now she doesn't want Cam confused. Sam understands and says, "How can his dad be with me when he obviously still loves you?" They sit and talk for a while and Sam gets into how kind and wonderful Lucky is and how good he feels for her. She tells Liz that if she wanted him back she knows he would reconcile. Liz says that she will always love him, but just wants to see him happy. She tells Sam that Lucky is happy with her and maybe they can set a date with the kids for the carnival in the park or something.
Nik's Actually Considering It!
Liz pays Nik a visit and finds him looking at photos of Emily. They fondly remember fun times that they all had together and say how much they miss her. He puts on a cheery face and says that he's supposed to get on with his life now, right? Liz tells him that it's okay to follow his heart and grief wherever it takes him. He asks what if he allows his grief to lead him into something destructive? He assures Liz that he hasn't done anything yet but wonders if it is considered cheating if you're attracted to someone before the first year of mourning ends. Liz tells him that Emily would cheer him on if he fell in love again and Nik clarifies that he's not talking about love.
That Didn't Take Long.
A patient comes into GH and goes to the nurses's desk with a complaint about his meds not working. Liz tries to help but he's too embarrassed to say much more than that his "blood flow" medicine didn't work the last time he needed it to. Lucky has come in on police business and overheard. After the patient scurries off, he and Liz wonder if it's a coincidence or if there is a problem with the medications used at GH lately.
Oopsie.
Jason and Liz are riding out the storm in an abandoned cabin. She has taken his face in her hands, but he removes them and reminds her that they can't be together. He mentions Emily, Alan and Michael and how much he's lost lately all due in part to the life he created for himself. "I can't do it anymore, it hurts too much," he claims. Liz asks if he thinks he can just turn off love? If so, she would've stopped loving him a long time ago, she says. She admits that it's killing her to know that he will never be in her life. He apologizes and tells her that he loves her. In fact, he tells her that she's perfect but he can't spend his life with her. She knows. They sigh and decide to try to get her car open. After he does, he tells her that he loves her and that she saved him tonight. They kiss in the rain and then he puts her in her car.
