Alexis meets Jax at The Metro Court and asks him to help her with Sonny. She wants Sonny to give up all rights to Kristina and she thinks Carly is the person who could get it done - if Jax asks her to, that is. As they talk, Carly sadly walks in and tells them that Mac has closed the case of Michael's shooting. Carly glares at Alexis as if she's to blame. Alexis says that the PCPD had no choice but she will never give up on it personally. She adds that Carly did the right thing by asking Sonny to give up Morgan. She asks her to help her with Kristina and even offers to get down on her knees. Carly won't do it. Alexis gets upset and tells Jax that Sonny will eventually take Morgan and Carly back. She vows to keep Kristina out of this mess no matter what it takes, and then leaves. Jax and Carly sit down and he asks her to help persuade Sonny to give up Kristina. (He positions it as a favor from one mother to another.) Carly reminds Jax that Alexis just trashed their marriage! He says that she is just scared for her child, that's all. He tells Carly that as the mother of two of Sonny's children, she has influence over Sonny and he'd like her to use it.
Mayor Floyd has cornered Mac at the PCPD and is yelling that Ian Devlin was shot by a mobster and his department is letting him get away with it. Just then a trooper brings in Nikolas and Nadine in cuffs. Floyd asks if the biggest bust they can come up with is the single highest tax-payer in Port Charles? Just then Leyla comes in with Spinelli, who is wearing cuffs and being charged for assault. Alexis walks in and insists that all charges be dropped. Nadine lets Mac off the hook for his department calling her a hooker, and then promises Nik that she's ready to help him with his clinic. Spinelli apologizes to Leyla for ruining their evening but she kisses him on the cheek and calls him her hero.
Alexis goes to Kate to talk to her about Sonny and Kristina. Kate assures her that Sonny is a legitimate business man and a wonderful father. Alexis says that nothing will stop Sonny from getting what he wants. She asserts that he will eventually take Morgan and Carly back for his own. Kate tells her to stop underestimating Sonny (and herself).
No Room at the Inn.
Sonny is serving Kate a new blend of coffee when Alexis bursts in with a newspaper and says that his retirement lasted a whole 24 hours. She demands to know if he set the arson fire at the Zacchara mansion. Kate leaves for work and Sonny tells Alexis to ask Jason because he is no longer in organized crime. Alexis says that nothing would make her happier, but predicts that he can't stay away from power for long. As they talk, Diane shows up and Alexis asks why he still needs a lawyer? Diane explains that she's on separate retainers for Sonny and Jason. Alexis informs her that her office will be questioning Jason. After she leaves, Diane tells Sonny all of the problems she's having with him going "legit." She tells him that people who have been loyal to him for years are now in the line of fire and that he basically blackmailed Jason into taking the business when he should've handed his boys over voluntarily. Sonny tells her that she has crossed the line.
Jason Strikes Back!
I'd like you to do the same thing for Kristina," Alexis has gone to Sonny's house in response to learning that he signed away his parental rights to the boys. She tells him that Kristina loves him but she wants to protect her daughter the same way Carly protects her boys. She makes a good case - one we've heard before. Sonny says that he can't give up Kristina after losing Michael and giving up Morgan. Alexis accuses him of loving his boys more and he says that he hasn't given up anything - he just signed a piece of paper! Alexis is confused, so he explains that sooner or later Carly will come around and let him be a father again. Regarding Kristina, Sonny says that he's only in legitimate business now so that he can protect his family. Alexis' calm exterior finally melts away and she yells, "I'm trying to safeguard our daughter and all you can do is placate your ex-wife!" Sonny reminds her that keeping company with Jerry Jacks isn't good for Kristina either. She leaves angry and without what she came for.
Departures.
At the PCPD Mac is livid that Alexis is having Luke released. Ric is none too pleased either and pulls Alexis out of the holding room so they can talk privately. Alexis tells him that Luke's heart condition and his wife are enough reasons to assume that he'll stick around town. Ric contends that she's abusing her position as D.A. While they're alone, Luke and Tracy talk about the predicament he's in. She asks what he did to make Anthony Zacchara frame him and Luke doesn't know, but he intends to find out. Alexis rejoins them and says that he's free to go but he shouldn't even think about leaving town. Luke gives a cocky little salute in response and shakes his hands free of the cuffs.
Jerry brings some chocolate-filled truffles to Alexis in her office and she takes them right out of his hands. Then she tells him to call Claudia if he's lonely. He explained that he only kissed Claudia because he saw her coming and he was trying to make her jealous. Alexis isn't listening, nor is she sharing her truffles with him. They argue over a bite of chocolate and Jerry pulls her in for a kiss. She makes a somewhat valiant effort in pushing him away but finally gives in to it.
Oopsie.
Luke is brought into the PCPD in cuffs and Alexis approaches him right away. She asks how he let this happen and he tells her that he was framed. Tracy is busy with Mac trying to arrange bail but learns that the charges are federal so there won't be any bail. Ric shows up to represent Zacchara interests but tells Mac that his father can rot. Mac says at this point he has nothing to implicate the Zacchara family yet, but Luke made $50,000 in a few hours. Luke tries to chalk it up to lousy gamblers. Trevor is told he is free to go and Tracy gets in his face and spits, "I will hurt you in ways that don't even exist yet."
Alexis speaks up and says that she is prepared to let Luke leave for now. And then she says something very uncharacteristic. "I don't consider him a flight risk."
The Crumbling of Carly's Denial.
Claudia and Jerry are on the waterfront trying to come to an agreement about how to proceed with keeping Sonny in the dark about their involvement with Ian. They both threaten to expose the other. Jerry warns about Johnny's safety and Claudia returns the favor by bringing Jax into the mix. As Jerry puts the squeeze on Claudia for emphasis, he suddenly decides to kiss her. They no sooner lock lips when Alexis comes upon them. Jerry tries to act casual and Alexis tries to control her anger. Claudia smiles and tells her that she and Jerry are business partners and then leaves. Jerry tries to explain, but Alexis tells him to get a different attorney. He tells her that he simply gave in to Claudia's hotness for a moment and it's a result of the back 'n forth tango between them. Alexis tells him that she doesn't care what he does, and he tells her that jealousy looks good on her.
