Down at the PCPD, Diane reminds Alexis that she wasn't so eager to do her job when Jerry Jacks was the one in the handcuffs. As the women argue, Spinelli comes in and says that he has an alibi for Jason. Alexis allows them five minutes to talk. Spinelli explains that he hacked into Interpol's website and now an agent is telling DA Davis that another of Karpov's rivals burned the warehouse. He assures Jason that he left no trace of his work just in time for Diane and Alexis to come back in and release Jason.
Once they're alone, Diane tells Alexis that they should put their lawyer hats away and talk as friends. Alexis wants to set the record straight that she did believe her daughter and she was trying to set Jerry up but he got blown to smithereens first. Diane isn't sure whether to believe her or not, but she sits quietly with her nonetheless.
Diane goes out to the office to talk to Alexis. She insists that they let her client go, and Alexis asks Mac if she can talk to her alone. She tells Diane to distance herself from this case because this time Jason has gone too far. They go back into the interrogation room and Alexis promises Jason that she'll find the evidence she needs to prosecute him because it's time for him to pay for all the pain he's caused in this city.
Sam is scrambling over at her place to convince her mother to believe her. She tells Mac that she has been working undercover for months on trying to prove that Jerry and Karpov are smuggling drugs. Alexis tells Sam to stop talking and let Mac arrest her. Then she promises that she'll have Diane meet her at the PCPD. Lucky bursts through the door and Mac tells him that this isn't his case. Lucky says that he came because he and Sam used to be involved. Sam tells Lucky that he bailed on her months ago and needs to leave.
Jerry has already arrived at the PCPD when Sam is brought in. She struggles with the cops and promises to make Jerry pay for setting her up. Lucky takes her into the interrogation room and Mac tells Jerry not to leave town because he is a person of interest. Then Jerry tries to convince Alexis that he was only trying to help her and that he let it go too far. Alexis is too stunned by what she saw in the hot tub to hear anything else.
Back in Port Charles, Alexis is standing on Sam's terrace looking at Jerry and Sam in the hot tub. "You're early," Jerry states, and Sam quickly realizes that Jerry has set her up. She starts to explain to her mother that she's trying to prove that Jerry is working with Karpov to import illegal drugs. By way of proof, she tells Alexis to get the PDA out of Jerry's jacket pocket. Jerry calmly says that he does indeed have a PDA but Alexis could spare herself a lot of heartache if she smashed it without even listening to it. Sam insists that she's telling the truth, so Alexis briefly checks it out. She only finds music and restaurant listings on the PDA. Sam says that it must be encrypted or something! Jerry says that Sam came on to him and he wanted to expose her to her mother. Sam promises that isn't true, but is interrupted by Mac when he arrives with a search warrant. While the cops conduct their search, Sam tries to explain but Alexis tells her to stop talking without a lawyer. Finally, Mac finds the drugs that have come up missing from GH and replaced with fakes.
Jerry arrives for his date at Sam's apartment and finds her in a bikini. She tells him that it's a beautiful night for the hot tub and eyeballs the camera that she has set up. As Jerry slips into it with her, Alexis comes to the door to talk to Sam. Since no one heard her knock, she walks in and out on the terrace just in time to see Jerry kissing Sam.
Jerry goes to pick Alexis up from work in hopes that she'll spend the evening with him. She says that she'd love to do anything to keep her mind off of what she's about to do to her daughter. Then she picks up the phone and orders a search warrant for tomorrow in the name of Sam McCall. While he waits, he takes a call from Sam.
Jerry has gone to the D.A.'s office to give Alexis photos of Sam with Karpov. Alexis takes a look and assumes that Sam has partnered up with the Russian mobster. Jerry attempts to convince her not to jump to conclusions, and she asks why he's defending her daughter? He says that he's merely worried about Sam's mother. Alexis says that Sam is playing a dangerous game and it's going to stop. She demands to know what he knows about it. Jerry admits that he wanted to set up an import/export business, but abandoned the project after he realized that the Russians were getting involved. He says that while researching, he bumped into Sam several times on the waterfront meeting with Karpov.
Diane is beckoned to Alexis's office. Alexis asks for her advice as a mother and as a lawyer. Diane reminds her that she hasn't a maternal bone in her body, but she can give legal advice. Alexis pulls out the photo of Sam and Karpov. She explains that she had Karpov followed based on Olivia's statement and now she's found out that her daughter is smuggling drugs! Diane asks what Alexis would do if Sam weren't her daughter. Alexis says that she'd get a warrant. Diane tells her to go see Sam first because arresting her daughter should be a last resort!
