At the casino, Luke questions Tracy’s hatred of Ethan. She thinks he is trying to fill the disconnect he has with Lucky. Luke knows Tracy is trying to protect him, but he likes Ethan which means he will have a job at the Haunted Star as long as he wants one.
Luke returns to the Haunted Star and Ethan says he knows Luke thinks Tracy switched the DNA test and that’s why he asked Lulu to flirt with him. Luke wonders if it would be so bad if that turned out to be the case. They argue about it and Luke says he should just call Holly to find out if Ethan is his son, but Ethan doubts Holly will tell the truth over the phone. Tracy enters and demands he hang up the phone. Holly answers, but Luke gets a bad reception and the line goes dead.
Tracy walks onto The Haunted Star and yells for Ethan to stay away from Lulu! When Luke returns they all gang up on Tracy and ask why she's suddenly so against Ethan. Lulu asks Ethan to take her dancing and once they're gone Tracy asks Luke why he's letting this happen! Tracy lists all of the drama that Lulu has had over the last few years, but Luke asks what any of that has to do with Lulu dating Ethan? Tracy stonewalls and he asks what she's hiding.
Lulu is full of questions for her dad about his plan for her and Ethan. He warns her against getting too close to him except for when Tracy is watching. She assures him that she isn't the least bit attracted to Ethan. Before long Ethan returns from his bogus errand and asks what Tracy is up to? Lulu playfully tells her dad to call his wife off of poor Ethan. After Luke leaves them alone, Lulu pulls Ethan in for a big kiss as soon as Tracy arrives.
"I don't know if this is good news or bad," Epiphany says as she reads the DNA results to Luke, Ethan and Tracy. There's no match and Ethan is not Luke's son, she tells them. Luke asks to take a look and finds that there are zero genetic markers between himself and Ethan. Tracy thanks Epiphany and Ethan is relieved as he asks if he can go back to his old job now? Luke shakes his hand and says that of course he can. Later, Luke tells Tracy that Holly might be up to no good, but Ethan wasn't out to scam anyone.
Luke is back on The Haunted Star with a big glass of booze. When Tracy finds him she surmises that he's upset because Lucky was right about him wanting to find a son who is more like him. Luke denies it, but admits that there is something about Ethan that he wanted to be a part of. He makes a toast to having one less offspring just as Lulu and Ethan arrive. Lulu can see that something's wrong with Luke and thanks Ethan for the heads up. Tracy immediately puts herself between Lulu and Ethan and sends him on an errand. When they're finally alone, Luke asks Lulu for a favor. He asks her to pay special attention to Ethan when Tracy's around. He explains that Spanky's reaction will tell him everything he needs to know.
Luke is surprised to see Lucky come to The Haunted Star. Lucky says that there's been a string of burglaries on the waterfront and asks where Ethan was last night around 8:00 PM? Luke quickly says that he is Ethan's alibi and 'potential father'. Lucky thinks he's being conned, but Luke says that the timing of his birth jives and he could be Holly's son. Lucky accuses him of wanting Ethan for a son instead of him. He and Ethan almost come to blows but Luke keeps them apart. Lucky points out that Ethan is about Lulu's age so that would mean that he cheated on Laura. Luke points out that he's never been a saint. Lucky warns Luke to keep this despicable lie to himself and not bother Lulu with it. After he storms off, Tracy shows up and says that the DNA test should be ready by now. Ethan wants to forget the whole thing, but Luke says that he's going. Tracy and Ethan follow along.
Luke, Ethan and Tracy wait in the GH conference room for Epiphany to bring the results. When she comes, Luke asks her to read the results.
Luke finds Ethan on The Haunted Star and they start dealing cards. Ethan doesn't get why he even cares if he's his son. Luke says that it must have something to do with how alike they are. He clarifies that nothing will change if it turns out that they are father and son. Tracy shows up and tells Ethan that she deeply understands the need to have a father and that she misses her two sons. Then she adds that she also deeply understands the art of the con. Ethan throws down his cards and says that he's tired of being accused of wanting to be Luke's son. He says that he planned to leave tomorrow but Luke cleaned out the cash box. He turns to Luke and asks why he would even want to have him for a son? Luke says that he just needs to know and offers a glimpse at the Spencer family history. He speaks of Aunt Ruby and her house of working girls in Florida when he was a kid. He moved on to her 'mean bowl of chili' and her take-no-prisoners attitude of later life. Luke says that it took him two heart attacks for him to realize that he won't live forever and he'd like to leave behind more than the two angry kids who he already has. Ethan says that he'd like to stick around, so he hopes the DNA test proves that they are not related.
Luke reaches out to Ethan as he tries to board his plane, but Ethan recoils. Luke tells him to be mad at Holly, not him. Ethan says that he'd rather that his biological parents remain a mystery because he's not in any hurry to be a bastard child. Luke confesses to never being a dream husband, but if Holly had been pregnant he certainly would've helped in some way. Ethan wonders if Holly even knew who the father was and says that he's not interested in being someone's kid now that someone else did the 'dirty work' of raising him. Luke says that for some crazy, demented reason he likes the idea of being his dad. He promises not to start acting like a dad and Ethan says that they should just go back to the way things were. Tracy shows up and challenges Ethan to just get on the plane and leave. Luke calls Ethan a coward if he goes. He promises to buy Ethan's ticket after one quick trip to the hospital, regardless of the outcome.
