In the lobby at the Metro Court, Patrick is reeling from his phone call. He tells Robin that his HIV results came back "inconclusive". She tells him that she'll be mad at him for going to Vegas later; but right now they are going to the hospital to talk to Alan. When they get there, they talk while waiting for Alan. Patrick is nervous and Robin is being supportive. She tells him that no matter what the result are, their relationship will still be as wonderful, and rocky, as ever. He tells her that he'll be okay -- she's living proof of that. Alan finds them and is ready to discuss the results, "We've got a serious problem." He explains that they couldn't get a reading either way. It's possible that there was a mistake in the lab, but they need to run the test again. Robin wants a rush job, but Patrick says that won't be necessary. He explains that he's as informed as he wants to be right now, he wants to wait until next month. He reminds her that if he is HIV positive, he doesn't have to deal with it her way.
At the hospital, Alan and Monica argue about various things, and finally Monica spews something about how he should be "covering his butt". He doesn't understand what she's talking about. "Rick Webber" Monica explains. 'Why can't the son of a bitch stay dead?" Alan steams as she fills him in on what Lulu and Dillon have been doing.
Alan comes home and finds Dillon waiting for him. Dillon says that Edward wants to cut down a beautiful old oak tree and asks Alan to talk him out of it. He's able to segue the conversation into one about how much Alan loves and preserves life. Alan sees through Dillon's probing about the Webber case and says that he'd still want to squash Rick Webber like a bug.
Alan calls Monica home and explains that Dillon knows that she was having an affair with Rick Webber during the summer that he died. "So, the game's over," she says. Alan asked if there's any way Dillon can find what she did. "What I did?" Monica exclaims. She tells Alan that she's known all along that he killed Rick Webber. Alan says that he saw her go meet him the night he died. She explains that she went to the Scorpio attic, but to end the affair. Laura was already there, so she left. She told Alan that she thought he did it because she saw his car nearby. "Yea, because I was spying on you!", Alan explains. They each thought the other killed Rick! Monica laughingly tells her husband "You're no prize but you're all I got." Alan replies with, "I love you too darling." So, who killed Rick?
Lulu is brainstorming in the Quartermaine family room while Dillon is trying to study. She can't believe that she allowed Rick Webber's date book to get out of her hands and wants Dillon to create diversion so she can look for a safety deposit key somewhere in the house. Dillon reluctantly decides to help her out. When Alan, Monica, Tracy and Edward arrive for an impromptu ELQ meeting they all stand up to leave when they realize that it's another "Dillon" meeting. Before they have a chance, Dillon scrambles to come up with a topic that will keep them in the room for a while. "I move to force Grandfather into retirement," he blurts out.
After they tell Dillon how ridiculous his suggestion is, Quartermaines go through their normal bickering about who is entitled to be the family heir…which grandson has received preferential treatment, etc. One thing leads to another and Dillon rants that maybe he doesn't want to end up as a cynical board member after all. He works himself in to frenzy, until he rips off his button- down shirt and declares that he wants to follow his passion and be a director.
Tracy tells her family not to believe that Dillon is having an epiphany, he must be up to something. She suspects that it has something to do with Lulu. He says that he gave up on his own dreams when he changed his major and he's not going to do it anymore. Alice breaks out in applause, and Alan is proud of him. Alan shares that he chose medicine over Edward's dreams of him joining the family business and never looked back. Edward ends up saying that Jason is the only Quartermaine who is worth a damn and the same will be true of his child.
Dillon has called a meeting in the study and the grumpy family isn't pleased. Even Alice has been invited. After the study door is closed, Dillon offers coffee, but no one is interested. They start sniping at each other and Dillon just lets them go for it.
The Quartermines have wound down and it's time for Dillon to start his "schpeel" to kill time while Lulu looks for the date book. He says that his conscience is bothering him regarding the ELQ faulty condom situation. He wants them to discuss how they can treat the public ethically, perhaps pay out all the settlements. Alice suggests that Dillon goes back to film school because ELQ's morals won't bother him so much—and he had a much better hair cut. Edward and Tracy argue a while and then he says that he was born into a wild pack of hyenas. Just then Sam arrives and asks Tracy for a job.
Lorenzo is in surgery. Alan has scrubbed in to observe, even though he thinks the surgery is a mistake. "That's the father of my granddaughter on the table" he says. Skye is watching the surgery from an observation room overhead. Patrick is able to remove the shrapnel, but Lorenzo's BP drops. Patrick demands that someone suctions all the blood out and, it gets tense for a minute. Alan gives Skye a worried look. Then the BP stabilizes and it seems as if the surgery is successful. (During all of this, there's a strange man watching Skye as she nervously looks down on the OR. He vanishes before she can see him.)
