ALAN QUARTERMAINE'S HISTORY

Alan came to Port Charles at the invitation of Dr. Rick Webber, and was immediately attracted to Rick's ex-wife, Monica. Although Alan and Monica married, she still had feelings for Rick and cheated on Alan with her past husband.

When AJ was born, there was a question of paternity. Everyone, including Rick, believed the child was a Webber, however, a later test determined that Alan was the true father.

Jason was the result of another scandalous liaison, this time on Alan's part. It seems that lusting and cheating have been the watchwords of the Quatermaine marriage from the beginning.

Alan definitely isn't your run-of-the-mill doctor. From his lurid affairs to addiction to pain-killers, million-dollar law suits, and stormy relationship with Monica, his life has been anything but easy. His two sons fought constantly, mostly over the same women. Alan's sister is overbearing, his father is bossy and cranky, and his sons didn't turn out anything as Alan had hoped. AJ is gone and Jason is still involved with the mob. Monica survived her cancer, and despite all the turmoil, they are still married, yet holding each other at arm's length because of their cheating pasts. Life at the Quartermaine mansion is never dull.

Ric and Scott are in the courtroom, along with Johnny, during the jury selection process. Epiphany is among the potential jurors and promises her complete objectivity. She is selected by both the prosecution as well as the defense. When Edward is called, he states his belief that he could never be a juror in this case because it would be a financial hardship on his family if he missed work. Scott objects and the court makes him admit that he made 100 million dollars in interest last year. Edward adds that he's biased against Johnny anyway. Scott accepts him unto the jury and Ric whispers to Johnny that Edward isn't likely to hurt Lulu by putting him away so they won't object. Before long, Tracy arrives in the courtroom and gets a good laugh when she sees her father on the jury. Alan pops up next to her and they agree how delicious it is to see the old man trapped among ordinary folks day after day. Tracy adds that Edward already thinks that Johnny is guilty, so at least he's good for something.

Edward, Alice and Tracy (and Alan!) wait down in the study for Lulu and Johnny to get dressed. Alan tells Tracy to lighten up on the kids and Alice wants to know why Tracy came back from Europe so soon and left Mr. Luke behind. Tracy says she didn't want to go on another pub crawl so she came back ahead of him. Lulu and Johnny finally come downstairs and Lulu informs everyone that she is an adult. Johnny apologizes for staying without their approval, but says that he and Lulu will be together and if it can't be there they'll go elsewhere. Lulu proudly leaves with him.
