Over at the newlywed's house Claudia proposes a strictly sexual relationship without any emotional attachments, but Sonny reminds her that their marriage is just about business. Claudia says that she simply cannot remain celibate for the duration of their marriage and asks if she can find someone to satisfy her needs? Sonny sees no problem with that. Max announces that Sasha has come to see him and shows her in. Sonny quickly reminds her that his father was beat up, but she claims to have come to talk about the future, not the past. Sonny tells her that he is now the head of the Zacchara organization and is ready to establish what happens to people who come after the people he cares about. Sasha looks concerned as she says that there are reports that a child has been taken so now wouldn't be a good time to start a war. She can see that Sonny is enraged, and quickly assures him that the child isn't one of his. Max drags her out of the room and Claudia tells him that he was very impressive.
Sonny tells her that he just learned that it was Jake Spencer who was taken and that he's Jason's child. He says that he won't dare make a move now. Claudia urgently agrees and says that he'll never forgive himself if anything happens to that boy. Sonny asks why she sounds as if she's talking from experience?
Love Is An Illusion!
At the meeting, Sonny tells Claudia that he can handle his own meetings. She says he needs to let everyone get used to the new order of things. He spots Ric watching Claudia and asks what he is doing. Ric says he is waiting for the meeting to begin. Sonny tells him to leave. When they are alone, Sonny asks what Claudia is after. She says he needs her because she knows more about the Zacchara business than he does. He allows her to stay but tells everyone – including Ric! – to leave. Ric stays and says they need to go over the next day's business. Sonny asks why they both seem to be on the same team. Claudia says she is sticking around because his interests are hers as long as they are married! Claudia says they have to work together or this won't work. Sonny says he isn't used to working with anyone and won't start now. Ric says this is typical Sonny behavior. Sonny tells Ric to leave their past and their brotherly connection at the door and tells Claudia she can ask any questions but he won't answer them. Then, he tells them both that they have no authority to make decisions using his name. He leaves to see Kate. "Am I supposed to be okay with that?" Claudia says and Sonny reminds her that their marriage is based on business. He leaves. Claudia and Ric grin at one another. He starts to kiss her but Claudia says they can't move their relationship forward with Sonny in the picture. Ric reminds her that her marriage is a fake and Sonny will never fall for a woman who isn't trying to save him. Ric tells Claudia to keep her emotions in check around Sonny; Claudia says she doesn't fall in love. Ric says that doesn't matter because Sonny does and she can't be his angel in waiting because she isn't Lily or Emily or Kate. "I believe that love is an illusion," Claudia says. Ric says he feels sorry for her.
Sonny arrives at Kate's. She reluctantly lets him in and he apologizes for everything in their past. "I regret that we didn't get married," he says. "I don't know how to be anything other than what I am but that does not mean that I didn't love you or I don't love you." Kate says he only loves the idea of her! Sonny says what they had and his feelings were all too real but Kate won't listen to him. She says she liked being on his pedestal but she knows that she can't fix him any longer. She asks if he told Emily and Lily the same things he has told her! He angrily says he doesn't want to be married to Claudia but he has to be with her for Kate's safety! He says he'll do whatever he has to do to find out who shot her. Kate angrily says he isn't doing this to protect her, he is doing this because he likes the mob life!
Sonny returns home and pours a drink. Claudia is waiting in the dark and asks how things went with Kate but Sonny won't talk about it. "So I guess Kate wasn't in a forgiving mood?" she says. Sonny says he doesn't deserve forgiveness; Claudia tells him to embrace his inner mobster and move on. Sonny sadly talks about lost dreams. She goes upstairs and he keeps drinking.
Carly Vows to Ruin Kate.
Claudia and Sonny have just exchanged their vows over at Anthony's house. There's an awkward pause after the Padre says that it's customary to kiss, but Sonny finally reaches out and gives Claudia a very untender kiss. Sonny pays the Padre and then joins Claudia to cut a cake that Anthony has surprisingly provided. He raises a champagne flute and says, "A toast to my new son-in-law and my beautiful daughter. May your union bring peace and prosperity to us all." Before anyone can take a second sip, he pronounces the wedding over and tells Claudia to make herself scarce so they can have a meeting. Sonny takes the lead and says that all meetings will be at his house from now on. When Anthony objects because his wheelchair makes travel difficult, Sonny says that he's not invited. Sonny and Claudia leave arm-in-arm.
When Sonny, Claudia, Max and Milo get home, Claudia cracks to Sonny that there's no need to carry her over the threshold. Sonny tells Milo to carry Claudia's bags to the guest room overlooking the lake and then he offers her a drink. They talk a little about the ceremony and how they both loved making Anthony sweat, and then she asks him to show her which room is hers. Sonny's men arrive at the house to start their meeting. Sonny says the first order of business is dealing with the Russians. He tells them to consider Max his right-hand man and then introduces his brother Ric. Claudia watches the whole exchange from the top of the stairs.
Anthony Tosses the Bride Away.
Sonny has not only just proposed, he tells Claudia that he wants to get married tonight. She tells him that he could make it sound a little less like a root canal. He says that the Karpov syndicate is raising hell and he wants to shove them back into their hole but can't do it until they close their deal. He reminds her that once their married, she'll be in the position to protect her brother at all times and they'll all get what they want. She says that she's going home to change into something more bridal. She ends the conversation with a quick 'bye honey' and heads out the door.
Carly shows up at Sonny's house to argue with him. Sonny says that he needs to know who shot Kate and this is his only way to find out. He pulls a gun out of a drawer and tells her take it and protect Morgan if it comes to it. Carly can see that he's serious, so she takes it. She asks if Kate knows about the wedding, and Sonny says that he went to tell her but she was too busy with Jax to act as if she cared.
Sonny and Claudia Agree to Respect One Another.
Olivia has barged into Sonny's living room just in time to see that Claudia is flashing a new engagement ring. Olivia's disappointed in him, but Sonny says that Kate will understand what he's trying to do here. After she leaves, Claudia asks which of the cousins he is really in love with? Sonny tells her to butt out or give the ring back. She takes a step back and promises to show respect toward the people he cares about if he'll do the same. He agrees. She reminds him that they aren't exactly two people who met in a bar anymore and asks if they can try to at least treat each other with respect. He agrees to that too. He asks what she gets out of this and she explains that she finally is needed by her father. He takes this moment of communication to apologize for assuming that her family had something to do with Michael's shooting last spring. They pour some champagne and toast to 'respect'. When the conversation finally grinds to a halt, she asks if he wants out of this already. He assures her that it's quite the contrary. In fact, he wants to get married tonight.
