Spixie was very sweet today. It was like classic Spixie with the beginning of a romance on top. This is how I wished them to be as their relationship evolving into a romance. Now they just add a few displays of affection beyond the wonderful words, but I know that is coming. I can be patient.

******** BRIEF RECAP ********










Maxie enters Penthouse. Jason says that Spin has been up all night practicing. Maxie wants Jason to do something mob-like to Coleman to get him to cancel Karaoke night. She says that he can't let Spin sing at karaoke because he will then feel unmanly and unworthy of Maxie and that both she and Spin will be heartbroken. Spin comes down stairs singing beautifully the song he made up for Maxie. Maxie tells him that he sound really good and wants to know what happened.

Maxie says that Spin's improvement in singing is almost miraculous and wants to know what happened. Spin says that he has been practicing a lot but also that when he sings into the microphone something happens. Spin tries to explain but then says that when he thinks of her, and sings into the mic, all of his love transcends into song. Maxie if very flattered. She asks Jason why he didn't tell her that Spin had improved.

Spin says that Jason wouldn't know the impact of Maxie on his voice and that jason has other things to think about. Maxie tells Jason that he knew she was frantic and he could have avoided a near disaster if he had told her. Maxie apologizes for doubting Spin. she says that she is honoured to be his "fair Maximista" and that she is looking forward to hearing him sing tonight.She kisses Spin on the cheek and leaves. Spinelli voices his inner conflict about misleading Maxie to Jason. He asks Jason if he should be forthcoming with Maxie. He says that if he continues to lie he is a fraud and if he does not use the microphone he will sound awful.

Spin says he feels bad for bothering Jason with his problems. Jason says he doesn't know what the problem is as Maxie loves him and he loves her. Spin wants her to be honoured and loved and that is his internal conflict about singing without being a fraud. Jason says that he doesn't understand. Maxie already loves Spin so why does he have to sing.

Maxie enters Jakes. Maxie wants to know if everything is ready for karaoke tonight. When Coleman asks about the difference in her reaction, she says that Spin is much better and that it is romantic that she inspires him. Matt enters and orders a drink for him and Maxie. Maxie is surprised. Coleman declines to serve Matt any drinks because of how he acted at Jakes the last time. Maxie says that she is not going to let Matt ruin the night for her or Spinelli. Matt wants to know what Maxie sees in Spin and Maxie says that she is not going to fight with Matt. Matt brings up what he is going through and he and Maxie start discussing their careers. Maxie empathizes with Matt and she talks about the mistakes of self distructing.

Matt and Maxie are still talking. Matt discusses his feeling like Patrick could have saved Brianna even though he knows that he didn't make a mistake in surgery. Maxie comments that Matt is jealous of Patrick and then consoles him by saying that people die all of the time. She alludes to Brianna, Georgie and Jesse but doesn't elaborate. She says why worry about things you can't change. She mentions that Georgie was perfect and that when she compared herself to Georgie she would become depressed and do something stupid. Maxie says that she can't bring Georgie back but she can focus on what she has, like her job, her family and Spinelli. She says that she is always going to be fair Maximista to him and that she wants to be the person that he thinks she is. She says that she loves Spinelli with all of her heart and that she never thought that anything like that would be possible. Matt says that Spin is lucky.

Spin is talking to Jason. Spin says that jason doesn't understand why he needs to sing because Jason has always had women come to him. Jason tells Spin of all of his good qualities. Spin says that he doesn't understand social cues and never learns despite paying the price for it. He then relays the ways in which he falls short. Jason says that this isn't the way Maxie sees him. Spin expresses his concern that as Maxie progresses in her world of fashion and parties he will be left behind. He then says that women admire rock stars. Jason says that Spin is trying to protect himself with the "courtly love" and that it is time to trust Maxie.

Spinelli comes to Jakes. Maxie is happy to see him. Maxie says that him singing to her is the sweetest thing that anyone has ever done for her. Spin tries to confess (about the microphone, I think). Spin says that he would be honoured to sing for her and before he can finish what he is saying Maxie kisses him. While kissing Maxie spin dumps his microphone into a pitcher of beer. He picks it up and looks panicked.


There was A LOT of Spixie today. Some of us were wondering if they edited two episodes together to re-create the timeline for the week.

Today was a very good Spixie day. Maxie showed a lot of faith in Spinelli. They both were allowed to have nice conversations with others. Maxie had a very nice chat with Matt where she expressed the faults of self-destructing. She also said that she loved Spinelli. Spinelli had a wonderful chat with Jason where he expressed his fears that he is going to really get his dream. I thought that it was really telling that he is aware of his lack of social skills and of being left behind. I think that is why he doesn't completely believe Maxie. He is afraid to and he has learned that he has never quite achieved the ability to properly learn social cues and have social abilities. He is afraid to trust what he feels may be happening. Today added back a lot of the depth to Spixie. I have missed my multi-layered Spixie with their complexities. It also showed that Maxie is (hopefully) aware of her self-destructive patterns and learning to move beyond them (crosses fingers). I was very pleased with all of spixie and all of the scenes with both Spin, Maxie and Spixie today. Kudoes to the writer.

Claudia's paternity results are in. Spinelli proposes to Maxie. There's a disaster on the horizon!


Life for Claudia is anything but pleasant this week. First, she's got Dominic (who's secretly Dante, Sonny's son) demanding a place in Sonny's organization -- and going straight to Sonny for it. When Sonny agrees to give Dominic a trial run, Claudia's sweating bullets, since Dom can link her to the attempted hit on Jason.

Then there's Sonny's fervent chasing of his ex, Olivia. He kisses her and makes it known he wants her back. While Claudia would love nothing more than her brother Johnny out of Olivia's life (he's none too pleased about Sonny/Olivia, natch), she does not want to lose her husband to that "Bensonhurst trash."

Oh, and she gets the paternity results back. The question of whose baby she's carrying -- Sonny or Ric's -- will finally be answered. But it's the accident that happens right afterwards that has us talking ...

Across town, Spinelli's plan to woo Maxie via song actually works! Maxie's totally smitten with the Jackal of Love -- they have sex, and even exchange "I love you"'s. But the last thing she expects is a proposal!

Rebecca's backed into a corner by Ethan's demands that she pony up $10,000 of the Cassadine money or he'll expose her scheme to Nikolas and the Qs. Desperate, she tries to get the cash from Edward, who agrees to hand it over -- if she moves into the Q mansion. First Michael, now Rebecca. It's getting crowded in there again.

All this, PLUS: Michael gets into even more trouble; karaoke night continues; and Andrea continues working her particular breed of evil.*

GENERAL HOSPITAL: VCR ALERTS

* Monday: Claudia's troubles continue to mount. Olivia's actions belie her words. Ethan is growing increasingly jealous of Nikolas.

* Tuesday: Dominic suggests that he and Claudia could help each other. Ethan puts the pressure on Rebecca. Claudia confronts Sonny about being with Olivia.

* Wednesday: Dominic tries to get Jason to trust him. Maxie's blindsided by Spinelli. Ethan takes his con game in a new direction.

* Thursday: Sonny and Johnny clash over Olivia. Ethan goes behind Rebecca's back to confront Nikolas. Maxie has to make a decision.

* Friday: The warmth between Sonny and Claudia quickly deteriorates. Spinelli plans a romantic rendezvous. Kristina's boyfriend is nothing but trouble.

Not sure how accurate the days are everything could be one day later.

I am really looking forward to the exchange of ILY's. We never heard Spin tell Maxie he loved her after she declared her love for him. I would also like to see her say it to him when she is swept away in happiness not sadness. I am very excited to see that. Although I would like for there to be a delay in Spin's proposing, it makes sense to me that he is doing it. He is a very romantic soul and he is swept away in the moment. He has just let himself accept that he has really gotten the girl he wants. I think that they almost need to go through this to become an "official" romantic couple. Loyalty and affection characterize their relationship (except during some of the contrived angst of this past winter/spring) so I can see there needing to be some big thing to acknowledge the change (not that I want them to become engaged yet/Maxie to accept him yet). I also think that if Maxie takes her time to decide, it will show that she is not just "reacting" and it will show Spin that she is serious. If she accepted right away, it may look like she is doing it for him. If she declines right away, it may look to him like she is rejecting him). Lastly, it may give Maxie some insight into the level of commitment that Spin wants with her. Again, I wonder if this will lead to her addressing some of her issues with marriage and commitment. After Scrubs wedding, she was questioning her perspective of marriage. That shows me that her feelings of not wanting marriage, or the traditional things is based in reaction. I would love to see Maxie's issues gentle handled within the context of the Spixie relationship. Let them be happy for a little while first, let them avoid third parties and let them have in character angst and growth.

I am just very grateful that we are getting Spixie as a couple. I know that some fan bases aren't right now and that just makes me appreciate what we are presently receiving all the more. I am keeping my fingers crossed for more sensitive dialogue that shows Spixie as complex, quirky, respectful and heartfelt.

Week of July 13:

HOPELESS ROMANTIC

Spinelli is overwhelmed with stage fright as he takes the stage at Jake's on Karaoke night. After a rocky start, Spinelli finally relaxes and sweeps Maxie off her feet with his voice. After Karaoke at Jake's, Spinelli and Maxie go back to his room and make love. In the moments after, Spinelli surprises Maxie with a marriage proposal. Spinelli confides in Jason and receives words of advice he may not want to hear. Maxie is not sure what she should do about Spinelli's proposal until Kate surprises her with a promotion. Maxie declines Spinelli's marriage proposal. After talking with Max and Diane, Spinelli makes a bold move and takes over the public address system at the Metro Court. He later sets up a romantic evening for he and Maxie, leading her to where she is suppose to meet him by leaving her clues in a poem.
