General Hospital - MESSAGE BOARDS

I have been watching GH for A VERY LONG TIME,

And I feel I am a "true" fan of the show. I have stuck with it, thru the absolute WORST storylines, worst couples, and the worst casting and re-casting. If a couple, breaking up, would stop me from watching, I would never watch a soap again. No couple on a soap stays together, with the exception of a VERY FEW (you can count on your hand). So to say, "I will quit watching forever if "so and so" leaves, or "so and so" break up, or if "so and so" is cast on that show. Why would you bother investing any time or emotion, into a show like that? To me, it would be such a huge waste of my precious time. Do you truly believe that your favorite couple will stay together until you die? LOL (that was being a little sarcastic, but I got the image of myself on my death bed saying, "I hope "so and so" stays together forever!!!, cough, cough".

That's a very good point. When people are passionate enough about a show to go on a message board daily to talk about the soap, they should be fans enough to stick through the disappointments.

A true fan stick with a show through the good times and the bad times. I have been watching GH for more then 28 years. I just love GH It is my favorite show. I just can't stop watching it. I love GH so much.

I think it is human nature to root for what we percieve as "true love & happiness".
We all watch this show (and many others) as an escape/get away. Therefore we want our escape to be "perfect", so we get passionate about the characters/stories/etc that we think come the closest to giving us that otherwise unatainable perfection.
Plus, as you all pointed out, with all the bad pairings, storylines, etc we are forced to watch there has to be something we care/feel deeply about or we couldn't call our selves fans much less true fans.
I don't really think that anyone will stop watching just cause they don't like a couple or a break-up. It's just our passion for the show calling out!
