Quote stormy1000: I dug all the way back to page 13 to find this thread, just so I can dump my rant here.

So now, after witnessing the huge wedge that is being driven between Jason and Liz by the writers of GH by them writing something that jason would never do.

Come straight from a mob showdown and beeline straight to Elizabeth's home, and just passively leave Lucky in charge of Liz and Cake's safety after all the months of preaching how important Liz's safety is.
I couldn't understand why he wouldn't secretly send guards anyway like he has done in the past?

Then he goes back to his PH and shoots the breeze with Spin and just hopes that they are okay?

The Jason that busted into the MC hostage crisis to save his loved ones and risked his freedom to save Jake when Jake was kidnapped the first time and took a speedboat over to spoon island to save his loved ones during the ball wouldn't do that. Jason just wouldn't do that.

The Liz that was with Sam today certainly doesn't seem like the same Liz who pulled a gun on Jason all those years ago when she thought he was going after Ric. The Liz who almost shot Leslie one night when she heard a sound outside her home, or the Liz who was in charge of the gun and the protection of Nadine, Spin and Lulu down at the Spoon island stables.

I hate, hate, hate when the writers change a familiar aspect of a person's character just to tell a contrived story that just doesn't jibe.

So now the same Sam that hated Liz a few months ago, and did all kinds of dirt to her is now going to be Liz's savior while Liz suddenly is helpless and might as well be cowering in a corner???

Liz is no scary little coward, she smashed Manny in the head with a fire extinguisher, She tried to claw Diego Alcazar's eyes out while he had her handcuffed in a car!

And lets not forget that she kicked AZ, on the parapet and was about to reach for the gun, but Jason got it.

Today's show was very, very hard to watch. And I came away angry that the writers chose to change who people are to tell some story they think we want to see.

Not mention that they would choose the one thing that would bust Liason up forever, harm from Jason's life threatening them, even though Sonny, Sam and Lucky were the main reason why they had to end up in a cabin unprotected.

I have been writing and typing so many letters to the TPTB these last few days that my fingers are hurting.

I am so sad and mad, smad as another poster called it.

Am I the only person feeling this way? Am I tripping alone on this?

I have worked in TV research for 15 years so I wanted to make a few comments. GH is NOT the only soap whose ratings are down, all of daytime tv is down...for whatever reason, I don't know. But this being said, GH writers know the huge Liason fan base exists....this all might just be more angst to keep us guessing and therefore watching-or-them leading up to FINALLY being put together, esp if SB leaves...they do tend to honor fans in this type of situation. Now if he is to leave, I tend to agree with whoever (i forget who) posted that we start off the new year with his funeral in Nov 2009 and they show us next year how we got there--with Liason being together. The only thing I would say is that if SB was to leave, I don't think they would kill him (or at least have him in a coffin and have a funeral)...it just doesn't really leave a door open for his return someday...maybe prison or witness protection, something. But, keep in mind NO ONE knows for sure if he is going to leave EXCEPT him. I would say he has really GREAt PR people working for him if us fans are already in angst over his contract being up next year! They want all of this to bargain with. If ABC is smart, they'll give him whatever he may want since he really at this point is the star of the show and on air everyday. Maybe not just more $$$$, but only having to shoot a few days a week and not carry so much weight.

Again, being the huge Liason fan I am, I was heartbroken today when Liz said to Sam, "this is all Jason's fault"...blahblahblah. But here's a thought...maybe that is foreshadowing for the fact that the Russians are there bc of Sam, not Liz. No one is really supposed to know about Jake and Liason, right? Maybe this is something we will see and maybe this will tie into Lucky giving his "I love being a father even though the boys are not biologically mine" speech to Nik the other episode--maybe Jason will want to clain his son and there will be some sort of custody battle down the road--bc I do think Lucky and Sam will stay together (and BTW-I really like them together)also too Liz and Sam aren't going to be friends, there is no fun in that!

One more thing and I am sorry for being so long winded--IF they don't keep them together, I think they will make Jason into this MOB loner guy who is miserable, bc he already hates himself for what he does and wishes he could go back in time and change everything, now they're messing with his family and I think this may send him into a downward spiral...until Liz saves him again...:-)

If they break this couple up for good, I will NOT watch anymore.

I don't know how true this is but I read that Frons ordered Guza to change the sweeps story so that Sam could be made to look heroic, he wants to white- wash the fact that she did evil horrible things to babies and their mom by flipping it and having Sam now be their savior.

It may not be true but I must admit that a lot of the scenes have been horribly cut and not fitting well together and a unreal situation was created so that Sam has been unrealistically pushed into being the one that saves them.

Lucky leaves them unprotected which is no surprise. Jason gets arrested after not being more diligent about their safety. Which is completely out of character for him.

Leaving Miss "Everyday Hero" and her trusty shotgun as the only thing standing between Liz and the Russians. Riiighttttt. It all looks pretty contrived to me.

OMG that was an AWESOME POST!! I haven't stopped watching once in 45 yrs, except during school, work, etc. but I always managed to keep up and then I got a VCR in 1985. If Liason don't get to actually be a couple OUT IN PUBLIC b4 SB decides to leave, I would probably also stop watching.

Sorry if this is going to come across like a dense question, I am not following what the issue is about Jason & Sam showing up at Liz's house. I mean why blame Jason, what I saw & heard was Lucky saying that Sam called him, and said he was supposed to meet her there. He added that he heard gun shots in the background.

I'm not following your reasoning Stormy, it was obvious that Sam & Lucky made the arrangement to meet there. I guess we can speculate that Jason was the one that prompted the idea but again that would be just speculation. How do we know the Russians are after Jason?

(: first thing first let me just say i am a loyal jasam fan..

HOWEVER, i do love liz as well, and i think the way they wrote the whole story line was un realistic and it upset alot of fans. if they game jasam an appropriate departure and maybe some sort of closure then maybe so many still wouldnt be hanging on, it's impossible for someone to be in love then BAM just like that the audience is supposed to believe that your feelings were drowned and old ones have miraculously resurfaced over night.

i like elizabeth and maybe if the writers had written the s/l more smoothly i would've maybe converted into being a liasonite, or at least would be able to stand them,

does anyone agree with what im trying to say?

Interesting question, I will try & answer this but let me just warn you I'm not invested in either pairing.

The pairing of Jason & Sam break~up was very brutal but also I found finality in it. Yes I understand the fan base wouldn't want that type of ending, for me though it brought out some great performances.

I saw it differently however, Jason didn't fall out of love with Sam over nite, it took months to get to that place. Jason even after the kidnapping of his son storyline in where Sam was a witness he never suspected her in the hiring of men with guns in the park. It was over an extended period of time that we saw Jason's feelings for her change.

For the pairing of Jason & Liz, I didn't take it that BAM he had some overwhelming love for her. I took it as he has always cared for her, maybe even loved her from afar but just didn't allow himself to be in love with her. Again that love happened over time, at least that is how I took the story.

Pretty much how I saw it, and I have been a loyal Liason fan for years. They each moved on to others, but it's not something that ever really died. They both just accepted it couldn't be.

That said, I have never liked any of the rebound pairings for either of them. Closest was Jason and Brenda, but that was pure entertainment rather than a serious romance.

The writing really has kinda sucked since the writers strike.
It is like the writers haven't gained back the momentum they had in 2007.

2007 was a great year for Liason and with the exception of the TMK storyline, the stories were pretty good. And it got GH the Emmy.

But this year the storylines have been violent, disconnected, so many loose ends everywhere, and the plotlines are not very well written at all.

I think the scab writers started a lot of stories that Guza was determined to wrap up and make disappear. Coupled with the fact that they totally messed up the Claudia characters entrance into PC. And that started GH on a downward slide.
Guza had to make this character stick cause people were hating her big time.

Liason got stalled. Cause Jason is always the character that is yanked from whatever storyline he is in to help characters "stick".
So then you get things that doesn't make sense and characters acting out of their established character.
Much like what is going on now with Sam and Jason.

I am trying to remember what site that article came from about Frons ordering Guza to whitewash Sam's character. Frons is a huge Kemo supporter. And She was supposedly concerned about how Sam was being perceived since she did such hateful things to Liz and her kids.

I read so much stuff from so many different sites. But I love the backstage gossip the most.

As soon as I find it, I will post the name since we can't post links here and you can go read it for yourself.

I read it awhile ago, before the sweeps and it certainly seems to be right. You can tell Guza changed things and gave Sam a much bigger part than originally planned plus she gets her heroic "Save Liz and Cake" and become cleansed story just like what was quoted in the backstage gossip that i read.

So in order to get that, it looks like Liason had to be sacrificed. How are Liz and Jason supposed to overcome the very nightmare that they were afraid of?

I got my info from "Daytime Confidential" and I am sure some of you are already familiar with that site.
