General Hospital - MESSAGE BOARDS

I hate how they make every character cheat or have an affair! Certain characters, in the normal world wouldn't have affairs. Characters that they make seem very sweet and loyal. I knows these are soaps, but for certain characters, that they make seem very sweet and genuine, it isn't likely they would ever cheat.

Characters that wouldn't/shouldn't cheat:
Elizabeth
Nadine ( she hasn't but you never know on soaps)
Spinelli (hasn't yet, but they might write it one day)
etc.

I don't think anoyone should cheat. But certain people are more likely to cheat than others like:

Carly
Sonny
Sam
Maxie
Jerry
etc.

Actually, in the real world, anyone would cheat, sweet or not. You don't know what goes on behind closed doors in a marriage. Lots of time people cheat because they aren't getting the love and affection they want from their marriage. It really has nothing to do with sex but the feeling of being wanted. I know people who have cheated that I would never have dreamt it in a million years.

Exactly, but maybe thats why some shows should balance things out with couples who opt to work things out instead of cheating. With so much negativity going on in this world, people need to see some positive relationships. It would be nice if GH could be one of those soaps that show hey, they're are still faithful men and women out there who honor their wedding vows instead of getting a quick fix by cheating.

Exactly...thats the problem. If someone is not being scandalous...they are considered boring. Meanwhile all the skanks/hoes are the ones being glamorized. That's not good, it happens all over the world. I'm a mother and I don't want my daughter growing up and thinking that's the way things are. I understand marriages don't work out, but then get out of it...I did

Not that I allow her to watch soaps, but I'm sure one day she will. I'm just saying that it would be nice for TV shows/soaps to show a genuine love story where there is no cheating involved. Show young people, a love that moves mountains still exists...just as long as you take your time and find that special person.

Relationships are difficult at best. They are just fragile in soap land. No one expects anyone to last. But there are alot of relationships that do last outside of soaps. They do have their rocky points but they get through them and it only makes them stronger. They really stero type certain characters by having them sleep with everyone. Like Carly and Sonny etc. It would be nice to have that solid couple who just finds a way to make it work through all their difficult times and not always break up the couple. IMO

But, they making character do the same things as others. If they don't cheat, I wouldn't think that s/l is boring. And when they make Elizabeth cheat, there ruining what they established, a sweet loyal character. You can make someone be faith full but not boring.

So since GH is a fictional soap, shouldn't they have more monogomous couples, since in the real world cheating has become part of relationships.
