I Love New Threads!

Hee!! I just started a new thread....... and I know some people find it annoying.....

But I would just like to share that when I come on this MB, I look for new threads...... generally, to me, that means the thread, is a fresh topic and a new conversation...... which is exactly why I come to this MB everyday.

I understand only needing one "fan" thread per character........ I think that is appropriate........ but if someone wants to open a thread to discuss something new or CONTROVERSIAL happening with the character, I am all about a opening a new thread.......and NOT disrupting the PEACE of a Fan Thread.

You see fan threads are very tricky.......... b/c they are not really to "discuss" the character, but more of a "gushing" based discussion. Everyone in the Fan Threads for the most part feels the same way about the character..... the threads are meant to stay positive and supportive...... so very little disagreement occurs.

......... PLUS....... most people are not likely to look in a fan thread unless they heart that character...... so if I want to discuss a CURRENT and up to date GH s/l, character or social issue..... I am more then likely to open a new thread.

Shortly, as the issue dies on GH the thread makes it way to the back pages and new current threads are in the fore front....... imagine going on this board everyday and seeing the same 10 threads....... boring, huh........ but I do get that repetition can be very annoying..... but if that is what everyone is interested in talking about............ post as you wish!

What do you guys think?

I am not sure I understand. Are asking if it is ok to open new threads? And if people agree on that?

Hee!! I am not so sure what I am asking.......just that I notice in the past week or so that multiple posters are commenting on not posting in the correct threads, or posting repeat threads and whatnot....... and I just want to say that I like new threads....

I think you are absolutely right nosoup!!

I'm tired of the thread police on this MB, if you want to open a thread open a thread.....if the mods don't like it they will close it.

I couldn't agree more with your thoughts....it's scary, but I think you and I think a lot a like

I'm always looking for a new thread to discuss a specific issue on the show....you're right NoSoup, I'm so bored when I bother to log on and the same old threads are still hanging around.....I love to gush over my Liason in their fan thread, but I'm always on the look out for something juicy to chat about.....

i totally understand your point and agree with it. i absolutely refuse to read any thread no matter the subject which has more than 50 replies as i have things to do even if i'm not doing them . so many times though there are interesting references to something that makes me want to know "what brought on that comment?", in a thread but to find out i may have to search hours of posts to find the answer. so i usually simply reply to someone saying what i agree/disagree with, without reading the whole thread. i'm NEVER going to be interested enough to read the longer threads!! i won't do that because it's too time consuming for me. another reason i agree with you is i don't understand the point of 18,000+ replies on ANY thread!! why would anyone want to read thru all that just to see if their point of view has already been expressed and discussed?? i've found that even on a thread with 50 replies there is a lot of repeating of the same views included in the discussion, and IMHO it's just as fair to start another thread on the same subject as it is to wade thru one that's days and months OLD just to say your two cents!

BTW i too have a real problem with the "poster police" who seem to think it is their personal job to keep every one handcuffed to what they think is the right way to behave on the board. there are rules but it is not a posters responsibility to enforce them. and it is also apparently not appreciated by the posters who have been the ones to experience the attempted corrections. therefore a lot of bickering and insults arise which is totally uneccessary and usually becomes extremely rude. of course this is all just my POV.

You go right ahead NoSoup and start new threads to your heart's content. Your threads are always funny or insightful or both so that's totally cool with me.

I have to admit that I'm glad there are thread police though because I am often appalled by some of the threads I see...there's one right now that is turning into an actor bashing thread.

ITA. I've hesitated starting new threads because it seems like the second post in all new threads is "shouldn't this be under________?" or "There's already another thread about this". I personally love new threads. It breathes new life into things sometimes.

Keep threading No Soup!

hi onlygh, I am appalled at some of the threads too......but that is what the report bad post button or the contact us button are used for.

Agreed....... and there is a way of telling someone, if it is really necessary to call them out.... Onlygh, knows how to post friendly yet firm. Like Abe Lincoln! hee! I just compared her to a GREAT president!

But back to my above point....... I just HEART new threads....... I really do!!

Yes, I think new threads keep the board fresh every day. Certain posters like to stay in their fan-based threads and have long, ongoing conversations. Others prefer to pop in and out of specific, current subjects. It's all good!
