General Hospital is bringing in a new mafia lord to Port Charles, in an effort to up the ante in the drama surrounding the Corinthos and Zacchara family organizations. b/c there is not enough already! They just won't quit!

Ilia Volok, 42, is joining the cast of "GH" in the recurring role of Karpov beginning with the Friday, July 18 episode of the soap, confirms a show spokesperson.............. so how long do you think he will last???

Karpov is a Russian mob kingpin who tries to tempt Sonny into conducting business with him, essentially bringing Sonny Corinthos back into play within organized crime once more.......... ha!!

I was so excited when i read this earlier... that i was overjoyed at the thought of more mob mobular activity....

This is a freakin joke. Just keep piling on and nothing seems to stick. LOL As if we didn't get enough of the Z's. General Hospital is just lost right now.

well, the good news is he's only on recurring. The problem is that TPTB haven't done much with the mob stuff lately. There was an awesome beginning when Jason took over the mob and burned down Zs house and then... nothing. I'm really hoping that either 1. he has ties with NIk or 2. Sonny brings him in to reclaim his organization and everything goes wrong. I want a Sason battle. It's years in the making and if the TIIC don't screw up yet another new character it could be awesome.

I hate the mob stuff... the mob stuff sucks. I am totally over it! The only way this is good news is if the new guy wacks Anthony, Sonny or Trevor otherwise this is not a positive development IMO
