Stop victimizing women! I'm done with this show!

I don't know why this Robert Guza person hates women so much, but he should go get professional help about it and stop taking it out on fictional characters that are watched by young women across America.
I said before that if there were one more rape on General Hospital I was going to stop watching for good. ************ Really poor choices all the way around by GH's head writer.
If you stop and really look at the women on this show, and the men they love, it is pretty sick and twisted. And obviously coming from one sick and twisted mind.
Perhaps Mr. Guza is a mob wannabe, maybe his mother didn't breast feed him, who knows. What bothers me is that young girls, like I was once myself, watch this show everyday, and this is not what I would want them to see. Spineless women being dragged by the hair by neo-cavemen, professing either love or hate for each other, but doing both with a near compulsive obsession for abuse.
So, my afternoons are free now. I will be happier for it, I'm sure.

That is the power of the T.V, you can turn it off!

I get that you are upset about Guza, but why the breast feeding comment? I think that has nothing to do with why Guza is the way he is!

First, this should have "Spoiler" in the title.

Second, to make an ASSUMPTION like that about a person (Guza) is pretty bold and not very nice! I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want someone ASSUMING your psychie and why YOU do the things YOU do. Guza is NOT the only writer on the show and is NOT the last word on the show either, so there ARE others that make decisions on how storylines go besides JUST him.

Third, these types of things happen on soaps and we can't change that. Do we like it..no BUT it is a part of the soap world. Look at Luke and Laura, look at Marty and Todd on OLTL, these were MAJOR storylines that brought in viewers as well as awareness AND pinnacled the characters themselves.

I'm sorry to hear that you're leaving the show because of it though. It's a good show and perhaps you could just not watch certain scenes?

I am sorry but I do not understand your comment about the serving in the military...so are you saying that men/women in the military cannot comment sexual assault? If so you are way off base her...it happens in the military on a daily basis. Plus look at the one guy in the military who killed that girl b/c she was prego with his child...then he ran to Mexico.

You make it sound like you are not only upset with the s/l but because it is with a vet...

I am sorry you do not like the way GH is going...it has always had the violence...trust me I have been watching for 20 years...it is based on the mob for a lot of stories.

Also, it is not very nice to attack a writer the way you did. He is not the only one in charge of the s/l. And another thing, breast feeding has nothing to do with any of this...why bring that up????

Maybe you should widen the scope of your world. Making the comment, "maybe he wasn't breastfed" is a pretty common thing to say about men who have issues with women.
Just as "maybe her dad didn't say I love you enough" is one to say about women who have issues with men.
(For the record, my father has always told me he loves me.)
And I have a right to say whatever I want about whomever I want, as they do about me.
Read a few of the other posts about "Guza" and you will see that many diehard fans do feel he has the last word on storylines.
If he can't stand the criticism he shouldn't be a writer.
Or maybe he should just hire you to fight his battles.

and maybe you should remember you are on a public message board for a soap opera and treat your fellow posters with some respect.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion without getting attacked. Read the guide lines, it is against the rules to do what you are doing.
If you are that upset with the show then sit down and right a letter to the producers or ABC it self.

I know I'm going to regret this post but here it goes...

Perhaps people are taking offence to the hostility that your post exudes. Everyone has the right to state their opinion but a lot of what you say can be taken as offensive and others have the right to speak up. Myself included.

Defending the breast feeding comment as being a "common" phrase doesn't make it justifiable.

As to the intended point of this thread, here's my answer: I fully believe a lot of these soaps can be derogatory to woman or at least portraying them in a lesser light than the men. Sorry for the generalization but I have been watching soaps for years and more recently talking about them online. We as women are also perpetrating this behaviour by having arguments about who's the bigger $lut or garden utensil (I tend to avoid these threads). I find these terms offensive especially the second one, and frankly silly since this is a soap we're talking about. EVERYONE sleeps around, it's the nature of the soap. I find GH likes to show the male POV more so than the female which is why we get Robin looking horrible so Patrick can claim his son and why for the most part lately, we are seeing Jason suffer at the loss of his son but haven't seen much of Elizabeth's loss.

But having said this, 1. we don't know what's going to happen with ****. Why are you assuming ****? and 2. I agree with gen, when the s/l is well written it is well worth telling (Elizabeth's rape and Marty's rape were two such excellent example)

I said before that if there were one more rape on General Hospital I was going to stop watching for good. Now I see from upcoming episodes that both Maxie and Lulu will be attacked in some way. And not just by some random man, but by one Lulu used to trust, by a character who has returned from serving for the US Army. Really poor choices all the way around by GH's head writer.

It is very frustrating that Guza is planing to have another abuse to women storyline...... especially since WE JUST HAD ONE with the TMK storyline......

What makes me most disappointed about all this, is they are taking what I believe to be a GREAT character and turning him into a irremediable creep!

Which makes me sad, cuz I LOVE ***....... however, despite the bastardification of this character...... I am looking forward to watching these intense and scary scenes!

I get why the military veteran being the bad guy bothers so many - it's because of the shoddy treatment veterans are given in storylines. Need a crazed drug addict? Make him a Gulf War vet! Need a murderer? Make him a vet! Rapist? Make it a vet! Like the cops in PC, military veterans are treated with disdain and written to be less than the true heroes MOST of them really are.

I understand what you are saying Shep, I too hate how television has portrayed vets, it is disgusting. I work with vets and I am saddened by how they are treated..If this s/l comes to be true I hope the writers spin it and make it positive for vets in our nation.

Now I know what a lot of you are thinking...how can a rape be positive...but maybe they can spin it that he had PTSD or an effect to a drug he was given while in the military, b/c they are given a lot of drugs that have some very horrible effects.

I was just trying to get a point across that just b/c he is a vet does not mean the s/l should not be done...it happens in our society everyday...and a lot more than we no with vets involved...is it right, no, but it is a fact.

:~ Hey out there , GH is a work of fiction...Like reading a novel...The writers are just that...We have the option of not reading a novel we don't care for or turning off our TV's if we don't like what we watch...America is great like that...Somedays we love our soaps...Somedays we hate them..Thats alright ..We still have the freedom to make choices... Happy Independence day...

It should have DEF. had spoiler in the title b/c I didn't know the stuff about Maxie/LuLu and I like being surprised, now I won't be!!

You r so right too that Guza is not the only writer on the show and does not have the last say in s/l's. There r a TEAM of writers and there r some that do have a final say. Just b/c Guza is the Head Writer doesn't mean he does, he has to get them approved by the higher ups. Pretending to know someone's psychie is probably not a good idea.
