Man, that is quite a list. Guiding Light started out being on the radio and then moved to television. I know this will reveal just how ooooolllld I am but. I watched All My Children, One Life to Live, Ryan's Hope, Sommerset, the Doctor's and The Young and the Restless all from day one.

I was about seven but my grandma watched them soo I watched them with her.. My faves though were Another World, Edge of Night, Love of Life, Search for Tomorrow, Days of Our Lives, The Secret Storm, Santa Barbara.

And of course, General Hospital. When I started whatching that it was in black and white and was only a half hour long. This is the only show I have consistently watched, but am starting to getting back into One Life to Live now.

Dark Shadows Ran home every day from school every day to watch the show. This began my long fascination with vampires.

Ryan's Hope
Loved to watch this show Michael Levin and Kate Mulgrew were my two favorite actors.

Young and the Restless
The dynamic of this show has changed when it was all about the Fosters and the Abotts. I started watching since the first epidsode. But havent watched in few years.

All My Children
One Life to Live General Hospital During the 80's I watched all three of these shows. But choice of all the soaps out there is GH. I am a die hard fan, and just can't give it up!

Hi Tink...I posted similarly about Dark Shadows on the previous page! My daughter turned me on to a great vampire trilogy if you're interested...the Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyers...I couldn't put them down.

hmm, that's a lot a soaps!

When I was home sick from school or vacation I would catch Ryan's Hope, AMC, OLTL and GH, but GH was on after school so that became my regular soap....

...until I had the chicken pox in 8th grade and my bff called me from the pay phone to watch Days and tell her what happened....I was hooked by the end of the week....once we got a VCR I taped Days every day and saved all the Patch & Kayla scnenes! When Santa Barbara started I took a break from GH....

...the great part is that I can still catch a little on AMC and OLTL and Days and still try and figure out what's going on.....

General Hospital: It has been my absolute favorite soap since I watched it with my grandmother growing up.

One Life to Live: I also watched this soap with my grandmother but later stopped watching it. Over the past few years I have picked it up again and I am loving the s/l's on there lately.

The Young and the Restless: I watch Y&R when I have time or see something interesting going on.

Bold and the Beautiful: Same as Y&R.

Port Charles: I loved Port Charles when it was on.

Quote jcrobinson: GH of course! (Impressive keyboard skills by the way!)

Followed by Y&R and B&B.

I did watch Edge of Night for some reason, I must've been 5 or so! Oh and I liked Port Charles. My mom wouldn't let me watch Dark Shadows, too scary!

She wouldn't let u watch Dark Shadows? That's a crime but she did what she thot was best for u. I think Dark Shadows was the best soap opera in daytime television. I wish they would put that on Soapnet, I'd love it.

I have watched all the ABC soaps at one point.

Back in the day Loving was my fav, and only because Luke Perry was on it.

When I was in school or working full time, I would tape All My Children,One Life To Live, and General Hospital and watch them at night.

Now that I am married and have kids, I only have time for one soap....and GH is it!!

Quote ghfanfare: Gosh, Dark Shadows. I had a friend that was totally into that show. She used to wear a long cape and had black lipstick and long nails painted black. That was way before the days of the Goth look and was very unique then!

How funny, LOL. My nephew was into that ugly Gothic look, dog collars and all. GROSS!!

The only person I remember dressing like that back then was Elvira!

And since we are naming favorite soaps from the list, I have watched General Hospital the longest. I also watched Dark Shadows some, a bit of Loving, and a few years of Santa Barbara.

Well first of all, I would like to say that your list is remarkable! And the fact that you included the years they ran as well is awesome!! Very cool to see, and have something like that to reference!

I am a lifelong, loyal fan of "ALL MY CHILDREN" . As a child, my grandma babysat me, and she had been a loyal viewer since the show's debut. I was probably as young as 3 or 4 when I started actually thinking about the characters and storylines on the weekends and evenings, (etc.)... My mom remembers me humming the old, old, old theme way back then. (I can actually hear it in my head now. It was the slow instrumental, with, if my memory serves me, violins, and maybe strings(?)..) Anyhoo, that is the first soap that I got hooked on. I started VERY young, and have stayed loyal throughout the good times AND THE VERY BAD!

The next soap I got hooked on was "DAYS OF OUR LIVES". Though my mom had watched this one throughout my whole life, I never watched it with her or because of her. In fact, it was on at the same time as "All My Children" for decades. When we were both home and able to watch Daytime TV, we'd usually either flip between the two shows, or head off into seperate rooms to catch our shows. I got hooked on Days when I was 15 or 16, whenever the "Marlena Possession Storyline" occured. I was taping the episodes for my mom, and I just couldn't help but get hooked! Still watch that one too!

I can honestly blame SOAPNET for the reason that I am not only hooked on "GENERAL HOSPITAL", but also "ONE LIFE TO LIVE", and am well on the way to starting to care too much about what happens on "THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS"!!

I started watching GH in November of 06. I kept seeing all these Luke and Laura commercials on SOAPNET, promoting their 25th wedding anniversary, and their big November 16th wedding. I ONLY INTENDED to watch THAT episode ONLY! Needless to say, I watched and I was hooked!! I got sucked into all the other drama and Liz's pregnancy, (etc.)

I didn't start watching OLTL until the spring of 07. I had it on in as background noise, and ended up hooked. And that's basically what's goin' on now with TYATR. I'm NOT hooked on this one. Not yet anyway!

Fun thread by the way!
