Right now I am mad at Sonny but I do not hate him...Kate is another thing. I have never liked her s/l...too fake for me...

I also love Jason and Liz...just not together.

KATE ~ I agree that the character of Kate is pretty over the top. But then again, she is suppose to be a rich snob isn't she?! I think she's acting like a rich snob!

SONNY ~ As for Sonny, I don't recall ever seeing an arrogant side to him. If anything, I've seen him be ashamed of himself, and admit his wrong-doings.

JASON ~ JASON CHOOSES not to acknowledge Jake as his son to protect him. He and Liz agreed this was best for the baby.

LIZ ~ Nobody's a "perfect mother". Especially on a soap opera! BUT, for being a young, single mother, on a soap opera, she's probably the best mother I've seen on a soap opera!

I think the thing about Kate is that she carries herself as a professional, sophitcated no nonsence business owner. And for some people that is kind of off putting. Kate is different she dosn't need to resort to catty remarks all the time to get her point across, and I think she comes off as snooty because that is just part of the persona she adopted when Connie became Kate. I just think it is easier for her to carry herself that way so that she does not give her secret away.

In a very literal sense Kate is fake, she is a figment of her own imagination. I think she let's a bit of Connie out when she is with Sonny. So maybe she isn't as much a fake as she is insecure. Pehaps if she had been more secure on who Connie was she would have never had to become Kate.

And I don't think Sonny at ALL thinks he is perfect, I think it is more that he sees his flaws and weaknesses and he strives to cover those up, by abusing his power and throwing his weight around. But now that he had divested himself of his power, he is letting his vulnerability show. He has nothing to hide behind anymore. Yeah he can be a pain in the arse most of the time, but I don't see him as thinking he is perfect.

I really don't get the connection or comparison the OP was trying to make between Sonny and Kate and Jason and Liz, these four people are apples and oranges. And Jason didn't choose to abitrarily not acknowledge his son, and it is in no way Liz's fault that he chooses to keep his relationship to Jake a secret. Jason is doing that to protect him, if Liz had it her way, they would be a family, but it is just safer the way it is.

As for Liz's ability to mother her children. She is probably the most realalistic portayal of single mother. She knows that she chose this life and she takes her responsibility as a parent very seriously. There is no mistaking the fact that she loves her boys and she gives them the very best she has to offer, and she will always put them first, which is more than can be said for some other mothers we know. Liz may not be a perfect mom, but she comes pretty close.

I think I am the only one that likes Kate. She portrays a high end fashion magazine editor true-to-form. She never backs down from Carly (nor does Liz - which is why I these these gals). I am just waiting for the day that Carly finds out who Kate really is - Sonny's first love from Bensonhurst.

Tell me about it. I work in the heart of Times Square and the building that I am in shares half of it with Conde Nast Publishing - hugh magazine company. You have to see how these women dress. You can always tell which side of the building they are going to.
