She went organic. By cutting out all the perservatives it has really helped decrease the amount of pain she has. I'll have to check with her tomorrow to see what else she does. All be sure to let you know what she tells me.

Thanks luv J8son, I appreciate it!! I would love to go organic but since I live on disability I don't know if I could afford it. Thanks for checking it out for me!! I love organic food tho, it is very tasty. My brother and sister-in-law r into ALL organic food. They invite us over every Christmas and cook an all organic turkey and it is deeee-licious!! They have no sugar in their food either but it still tastes very good. They've raised their 4-yr-old daughter on it since she was born and she doesn't even want any sweets. In fact, I don't think she's ever had any. She will go for other foods instead. Lucky girl.

NoSoup Re: smilies- I'm glad you like my smilies usage. I have a confession to make ...I'm addicted to emoticons! Sometimes I'll read another poster's post that sounds a bit harsh, and I think "probably wouldn't have seemed so harsh with a included." Other times I think "If you [meaning me ] use anymore smilies people are going to hit bad post on all of your posts just so they don't have to be overloaded!" Right now I'm thinking I just think too much, and I really flove emoticons!

Re: Teaching- Here's a lesson my Aunt who taught Math for 35 years taught me about teaching anyone, anything (especially children though)...

Set expectations (go high, rather than low),
Outline consequences, and
Follow through.

You're being too nice! You have a right to expect students to bring pencils/paper, you deserve to set a consequence, and then enforce it unilaterally (my Aunt used to drop a test score down a full letter whenever a student had come to class unprepared 5 Xs between tests because obviously they had not "prepared" for the test--she could do that because the expectation/consequence was set with her students and their parents at the beginning of the semester ).

Also if you have a chalk / dry erase board I would recommend writing at the top of it "Do not ask me for a pencil. Buy one, find one, borrow one--just bring a pencil." Then when a student asks for one just point at your sign, and expect them to work it out. It may take a week , but if you do both of these things by the end of the week you should see drastic improvement ...people strive to meet expectations.

Re: Team correction. Have you ever noticed that the most sloppy, mistake driven people receive the least amount of correction? I'm very anal at my job (at everything actually ), and so I don't make many mistakes (but I immediately accept accountability when I do ), and yet it seems that when I make an error 50 people are front/center to point it out/give correction, but when the guy who makes an average of 50 mistakes a day & could really use some correction makes a mistake the basic reaction is "Oh well. We'll help you fix that." It's almost like my error is such an anomaly they feel the need to pounce so they can get up close and inspect it like its some exotic animal!

number1GHfan I'm so sorry to learn nothing seems to work for you! I don't know if I'm ready to consider myself lucky with my 3 dayers , but I can definitely see the 'man with no shoes v. man with no feet' element of our circumstances.

I nearly forgot the most important thing I could do for you other than dispensing advice--I'm going to dispense PRAYER! I will pray for you. If your not a believer not to worry, scientific studies have shown that prayer works! If you are a believer then you already know scientists are slow God proved that prayer works a LONG time ago!

Texas Sunflower Best rant EVER! I love you too! I read in another thread that you were considering a new AVI. Please reconsider or it will lead me to rant (please don't lead me to sin ). I know from the AVI thread why you chose your's , I will never forget your story , and it fits you perfectly Child of the Son.

Everyone in this thread / MB We're all supposed to be ranting here, but instead the beauty of the people of this board is shining through . For every real world gripe there follows a sympathetic comment or suggestion. It's a pleasure spending time with such good people.

May all the best come to you , and now may some elusive ZZZZZs come to me. ~MorWeb/Diane

On topic...
SORASing. I'm not going to use character names due to the spoiler issue. But, unless you live on Mars, you'll understand. How do TPTB plan to SORAS one character without doing to a sibling. And if you want to throw in a SORASed sibling, what do you do with a half-sibling? Heck...throw that child in too...Then what do you do about THEIR half-sibling? This drives in insane!!!!! One week siblings are a couple of years apart, the next week there's a ten year age difference???? GGGRRRRRRR!!!!!

Off topic...I hope you don't mind, but this is going to be an anti-rant.
To Cardgirl,
Thank you SO MUCH for this quote
>>Men you can't live with them and they aren't worth the jail time.

Meow and Luv -

One thing natural that seems to help is what Luv's mom is doing - we went all natural and it has certainly helped. All organic if possible.

Another is the following receipe:
64 ounces of organic apple juice
32 ounces of organic (Welches)grape juice
1 cup (locally gathered) honey - dark is best
1 cup of red cider vinegar.

Mix honey and vinegar first and add all four in gallon jug, cover and keep in refrigerator.

Drink 4 to 8 ounces each day.

I swear by this.......

(and each item is mentioned in the Bible....)

hope it helps. We have drank it for years....

One last note if I may: I quit eating wheat bread and only eat Oat bread. It is wonderful for the body....

(I occasionally eat a hot roll - I will admit.)

I love your threads. They are so uplifting and sweet. I can not live w/o my "Son" - need daily prayers and covering for all........

The Lord keep my son safe in Iraq and many, many more blessings. I pray for each poster every day.

Anyway, Good thread and let's hope for better - happier times on our favorite show - GENERAL HOSPITAL!!

Hey Meow, I saw that you have some chronic pain issues and are on disability. I am to. I have chronic pain due to a birth defect and then a horible accident when I was 15. Any way I try to also go organtic and it is hard. But here are some things that I do that help, I try to eat frozen juice. A doctor told me this was a good thing to do. Just read the lable to make sure of the suger content. Welches is a good brand. I also try to stay away from chocolate and dairy and this really does help with the pain.

Also when you take a bath put one cup of table salt and one cup baking soda in the water. This will naturally take out some the toxins in your system. Sometimes I put alcohol in the water as well and it helps with the pain.

I don't really do as much organtic as I should because it is expensive but I try to do thing that detoxify my body, like the above. There are some really goods books on how to do this. Hope this helps.

By the way, I gotta like anybody who hates Claudia as much as I do.

Thanks Texas, unfortunately I have to avoid things like orange juice b/c I have a very acidic system and that only makes it worse.

LOL!! Yes, I am SICK TO DEATH of Claud, she needs to go.

Chronic pain is no fun is it? That must have been a serious car accident but I am glad u r ok. I wish I could afford all organic b/c I really do like it but it's too expensive for me as well. The only thing about taking a bath is that I can't get OUT of the tub so I have to stick to showers, heehee. I bet I could do a foot soak like that and have pretty much the same effect. Thanks, I will give it a try.

It wasn't so much an accident as it was a very sierious illness. I can't take a bath either and foot soaks work really well for me. Also just using a wash cloth dipped in the solution.

NoSoup I'm glad you like the idea! As a Spidey freak I always have ready access to Spidey things...here's a link to FREE coloring pages (no copywrite issues) that you might be able to use as a stencil for your picture:

www.coloring.ws/t.asp?b=m&t=www.coloring.ws/cartoons/spiderman/04.gif

The picture that will come up with this link is one where it looks like Spidey is ready to take someone on--like I'm sure you feel when you get "Can I have a pencil?" If you don't like it you can go to Home/Free Coloring/Cartoon Character/Spiderman page, and that will link to 8 more pictures, but I don't think any will work just as well .

Realized just now that I didn't, and I don't think anyone else did ask--what grade do you teach?

Texas Sunflower Thank goodness you'll be keeping the Sonflower! Thank you for the compliment on my posts. I sometimes feel like ranting, but find my rants eventually flow into praise for all of my blessings! I will pray for your son, and for your continued relief from pain.

My brother-in-law may be deployed for a year to Kosovo leaving my sister with 3 sons (the youngest is 15 months). If deployed this will be his second year long deployment, and he's not even enlisted--he's reserve. His orders will be finalized in August. Please pray for God's protection, and that His will be done and accepted by my sister and her family (My sister especially is having a real hard time with this).

meowbowow / luv_J8son_n_Liz Organic can definitely be expensive . A good alternative that can be much cheaper is Farmer Markets or local co-ops . While you are unlikely to find "certified organic" at either of these venues any pesticides used will have much less toxicity than what large commercial farmers use.

These are wonderful things to do w/o much cost. I use the foot bath also.

The juice coctail does not use orange juice, just apple and grape. It really helps.

Meow - the Scripture that I use for anyone away from home is Jeremiah 29:11 - "The Lord said, I know what I am planning for you - I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future." Please give this verse to your brother-in-laws wife. It gave me comfort for my son.....

Texas Sunflower I think you meant the above message for me not Meow, and I MUST tell you I think the Lord has used you as His messenger!!!! This verse has been on my heart for about a week for my husband (he's discouraged & laid off), but apparently the Lord laid it on my heart to prepare my Brother-in-law and sister as well! Even though the words have been bouncing around in my head this last week, and I could recall that it was in Jeremiah I couldn't recall the exact verse --my husband has actually been reading Jeremiah this week because I couldn't come up with it! Then here you come and lay it at our feet--just like a messenger of God. Wow! God is awesome! God is good! All the time!

MorWeb - Yes - yes!! I did - the no orange juice for for Meow and the scripture was for you and your family.

Isn't God awesome?? I pray for your husband also. I went from a widow who had to go thru bankrupty and no money (to pay medical bills and lost my house) to find after ten years of loneyness to find my honey hubby and security. I recently retired after 54 years of working.. Thank God for good health. Please tell your husband not to worry. Trust and keep on reading the Word. I am telling you He brings things to us when we don't expect them.

You are also awesome.

Wow! The challenges God has given you to refine you into His likeness! My DH is my first husband, and I pray he'll be my only husband, but if He should see it otherwise then I pray that I will come through it to find a second great love of my life as you have! It's kind of like Luke said yesterday, "Love is always the first time. No matter how often it comes around. That's the miracle of it."

I tell my husband often not to worry, and I shared with him your kind sentiments, and he sends his thanks! We know that He has been knocking on my husband's door offering a new position where my DH can grow for about a year. Allowing my DH to be laid off was just His way of knocking louder so my DH would finally answer! Now my DH knows that God has something wonderful planned , and he's becoming more encouraged that he will find the new door that God has opened soon. I keep reminding him that so long as he seeks it he will find it.

ITA He brings good things when we don't expect them. We've already seen it--it's how we found each other, it's the miracle of twins after 10 years of marriage that started with a miscarriage and a still-birth, and it's His continued provision for us that all of our bills have been met during this challenging time.

As to my being awesome--I'll tell you the same thing I tell everyone who's ever told me that...If you think I'm awesome, you should meet my Maker! SO glad to know you already have. It's nice to have you as my friend! ~MorWeb/Diane
