It was a series of emotions for Jason that compelled him to burn the sonogram, and yes most of it had to do with conversations with Carly.
Jason was feeling guilt over Alan’s death… guilt because he never really tried to know his father after the accident. Moreover, he was realizing how AJ deserved to be a part of Michael’s life because he was in fact the kid’s father. He voiced this to Carly while they were having conversation about her life, the Sonny, Jax triangle. He didn’t tell her the reason why he was obviously having these thoughts cloud his mind; it was because of Elizabeth, Jake and his promise to stay away for their safety. And Carly’s reply to Jason (since she has always been so considerate of everyone), was that it was Alan’s fault that drove Jason away from the Quartermaines’ (yes it had only been a couple days since Alan’s death that she said something to that sort). Jason was just figuring things out and Alan/Monica pushed him too much to become something he wasn’t, and they are to blame, not Jason. As for AJ, she said Jason did the right thing because Michael got to grow up with his mother… she added, a mother deserves to raise her own child. Jason looked at two things: how he didn’t want Elizabeth to go through what Carly went through with Sonny/Michael/AJ, and he knew the mother actually deserved to raise her child… and he would do anything for the mother of his child. So, he erased the picture proof of a life he created with Elizabeth. In a way he thought that this was justice for what he had done to Alan and AJ.
