It was such a short scene, but it spoke volumes to me. It was before he even knew she was pregnant. For me it set up his shift. That was a building block scene for what was to come.

Dear Jason, I can’t see you. I can’t talk to you. I can’t hold you. To abate these urges I will to write you only I don’t know what to say.
Surrounded everyday by people, yet I am so lonely. As a mother I am fulfilled but as a woman I am lost. I know we both agreed to keep our distance but I just can’t help myself. I have felt so confused & lost since we parted ways last December. I have been acting out like I never thought I would. It used to be, when I felt lost like this we would find each other and you would always help me. We would go for rides (where I always felt free) or we could just sit on the docks and talk. Your capacity to sit and listen & never expected anything in return or pressured still amazes me. Being me just came naturally when I was around you.
I have tried to move on and forget you. I think the harder I try, though, the more I seem to hurt others & myself with my actions. Since last December I have felt a void in my life that I just can’t seem to fill no matter how hard I try. I’m almost too embarrassed to admit this to you… I’ve been on the fringe of having an affair with someone. He & I started out as two lonely people trying to figure out why life deals us the hands that it does. An evening out at Jake’s led us down a path of heightened emotions that resulted in a mistake. That mistake turned into a way to ease the pain and loss we both felt. We vowed never to let it happen again. Our resolve didn’t last long. I don’t think it’s real; we just need to feel wanted and cherished by someone. This person does not love me. Lucky still thinks he loves me. I love you. I wish it wasn’t such a mess. I wish we were together. Anyway, the mistake happened and I can’t change it but I’m still trying to stop it from happening again. I wish I was strong like you.
Lucky told me he ran into you the other day. I guess you know we are getting married again? Maybe that’s why I feel so restless; you and I both know where my true heart lies. Lucky is the safe comfortable choice for the boys & me. The other person is my double-edged sword. I’ll get sliced open no matter which way that goes. At least Lucky is good to the boys.
There are times I don’t even recognize myself and wonder who this person is. I don’t know why I am telling you this, maybe to exorcise the demons that seem to be driving me, or maybe to ease my conscience? For whatever reason, I know I can tell you anything & you will not judge me. No matter what my tainted actions have been since we’ve been apart; please know you are in my heart & soul, and that I will always belong to you.
