Here are my answers to my question: What do you all think about the consequences of Michael's shooting? Do you think that the fall out of this tragedy has fallen directly on Jason and Elizabeth's shoulders?

IMO the Michael shooting is one more example of a poorly executed storyline on GH (if you've read my other post in some of the other threads you know my current dissatisfaction with the show). I don't believe the consequences of Michael's shooting have been well shown and certainly nowhere near the way the HW talked about the story in the magazines. This story was suppose touch everyone on the canvas but only 4 characters relationship/dynamic has changed drastically (Carly, Sonny, Jason and Elizabeth) and the rest of the story is left up to the audience to interpret. I won't repeat what shel wrote because she did an excellent job of explaining those consequences.

As for the second question, yes I think the fall out has fallen squarely on Jason's and to lesser extent Elizabeth's shoulders. I definitely think Carly and Sonny are suffering at their loss but still has done nothing to change their behaviour. They both made extremely rash decisions right away and as usual expect Jason to come in to fix their mess. I keep thinking of Jason's words to Elizabeth about everybody expects him to keep them safe, but he can't keep anybody safe. I think the same goes for fixing their problems.

Sonny thought getting out of the mob was the best solution for him and Carly thought the best solution was to run away with Morgan if Sonny wouldn't sign his rights away. Consequently, Jason knowing both were thinking rashly had to once again step up and clean up their mess. He didn't want to take over the mob, but he also didn't want Carly to take off with Morgan. He was stuck between a rock and hard place and to help both his friends he gave in to their wishes. Of course neither Carly or Sonny were thinking how these actions would affect Jason, who is still just trying to keep everyone safe.

On the other hand, Jason's reaction was also rash. His MO is to push those he loves out of harm's way (this started with Robin, continued with Elizabeth, then Courtney and Sam and once again with Elizabeth and the boys). He doesn't know any other way and yet hasn't learned that it never works; someone will always find out his weaknesses.

So, although Carly and Sonny are clearly grieving and suffering from the consequences of Michael's shooting, they are still able to move forward with their loved ones, Jax and Kate respectively, who are there to support them and help them learn to live again. This is why I think Jason and Elizabeth are bearing the brunt of the fall out. Jason and Elizabeth have to move forward apart. Neither of them are able to be with the person they love and they don't have anyone to lean on for the support they need.

Canadiana...Excellent post. The sad part of all of this is that Jason will never change his mindset about the situation unless something forces him to make that choice to be with his family in order to protect them.

I basically agree with you that the writers just screwed up with this s/l. Could it be just that the audience just don't get it. Has it gone over our heads? This could be another award winning s/l if done right, but I guess we'll just have to sweat out this one.

I don't think the story has gone over our heads, I think we as fans of the show have to make our own interpretations (i.e. make things up) because the writers failed to show all they could with the story. There is a beginning but absolutely no follow through and no explanation so we have to make it up.
