This is not intended to bash any character or couple or start any arguments...just looking for a way for this to make sense to me. |

In real life that would not happen but in soapland anything is possible. |

Quote former-gher: The topic of unbelievable storylines is hot today. I was just reading about the ridiculously unbelievable storyline over at OLTL that has Todd and Tea having a child that is 3 years older than the child he had two years before he was with Tea to conceive this new daughter. People are having more trouble with that than with Mitch coming back from the dead, for the second time. Since soaps began, the foundation of their success has been in viewers ability to suspend belief and follow the story for the sake of the advancement of a daily show. Daily shows are difficult to write for because, let's face it, not much happens daily to anybody. In my opinion, the problem soap operas face today, and have yet to successfully address, is that viewers are different than in the past. Even if we are stay-at-home moms, many have college educations, run their own business, are savvy watchers of primetime shows that are complex dramas, or simply, in general, we as women are no longer treated as being mentally incompetent to men in our day to day lives. Jason taking back Sam is not the most unbelievable thing to have ever occurred on GH, or any soap opera, but it is striking a cord for some reason. Maybe because what Sam did is a little too real, if she had taken Jake and sold him to someone who raised him in Europe and then a few years later he came back as a teenager -- then it wouldn't have been a stretch to accept Jason re-embracing her as his lover. We all can suspend belief when the goings-on are so far-fetched it becomes fun, but when it too closely mirrors reality we have some trouble. I know this doesn't answer your question, but it may answer why it was asked. And not start a board war. You're absolutely right. This is hardly the first time that that GH has failed to make sense in a storyline and I believe you've definitely touched on something there about it being because this particular storyline mirrors what happens in real life. Just recently it made the news here that a wannabe politician here was charged with murdering his girlfriend's toddler. Not only did she stand by him but she helped him cover it up! |

I think Gh has paid a price for this too..in the ratings. They have suffered for that and so has Jason character to me and no matter who they bring on JJ or Franco it's still there. Gh better hope he help with the ratings but I'm not interested in seeing him it's all about jasam. |

Quote jasonsmoll: We must remember that Jason is not perfect. He realizes that he commits many acts that are unforgivable. Perhaps that is why he understands and forgives Sam's actions. After all, she lost her baby then had to stand by and watch another give birth to Jason - her true love's - child. I don't mean to excuse what she did just like I don't excuse Jason for his crimes but in comparison, Sam's crime was not speaking up when she was in a most disturbed mental state. She did not kidnap Jake, in fact, she played a major role in his recovery. For these reasons, I was not surprised to see Jason a few months ago actually being turned on by Sam again. Don't forget that it was Jason who turned on the heat, Sam was not the agressor this time. Sam has given him every opportunity to walk away but he keeps showing his attraction to her. Sam is the logical moll for Jason - sigh ...... lucky girl !! Jason is so hot when he pulls his gun !! I did not know he was the aggressor this time...but that just proves my point more instead of less. Does NOT make sense to me at all. He was all about having a child and then she willingly put Jake into danger. That should be unforgivable...even to someone like Jason. |
