General Hospital - MESSAGE BOARDS

Today was the last day that I watched this soap. The characters have all become so unrealistic and retarded its incredible. Sonny, can do no harm no matter how many criminal acts he commits the rest of the characters in this soap (or almost all of the characters) actually see him as a good man rather than the sick bastard he is. Today that idiot Michael killed Claudia, who was not a good person but not worse than Sonny, yet no one saw anything wrong with that. It seems to me that Sonny can hurt, destroy and kill anyone and everyone its ok with that. But no one else has the right to do the same to him. I used to like Carly, actually she was the reason I started watching this soap again, but today I totally hate her and since there is no logic or any sence of reality in this soap I will be happy never to see it again.

I kind of see it differently. I think because it is a soap it is bound to be unrealistic, sometimes they do bring reality to the soaps, but for the most part it is unrealistic, and some are more unrealistic than others. Heck I find the gummy bears to be a more realistic representation of a mob than GH's mob.
As for Sonny always getting praise for doing wrong, it annoys me too, dont understand, but I guess what is bad is good and what is good is bad. Therefore, Sonny is bad in a good way, lol. Just like a kid killing someone is rewarded with gratification and a cover up. Hopefully, those who believe in that theory of things like gangsta rap being bad influences to teens and such are not watching this, but it is extreme and at times puzzling but it is like u said unrealistic for the fact of what it is.

I think it's just the fact that from the 80's GH has had leading men that are "bad" guys. The show surrounds them and makes them sympathetic characters. That's just the way GH is.

But certainly, if someone isn't enjoying the show, they shouldn't watch if they so choose. I have enjoyed it for the most part in the past few months. The writing has gotten better and the story's (although some not so great) have improved.

I don't have everything wish from the show but I believe in the show so I continue to watch!!!

I personally am lovin GH at the moment...all of it basically. While I agree i didnt like how Sonny was handling Michael in telling him "you did good", i think he meant it more as you protected your mom and baby sister.

Now what I have a HUGE MAJOR problem with is the titled of this thread and how easily teh word retarded is thrown in. I know we use alot of words that are degrading and insulting but to use the word retarded is crossing a line.

I like GH and you're right, its not realistic because its a SOAP OPERA! That's why I love it! Sonny is always going to get away with it (killing people) because he's a main character and has a huge fanbase. As for Micheal, I'm more sad than mad about him killing Claudia. Hasn't the poor kid been through enough?!!!! He's going to have some serious mental problems. Sonny telling him he 'did good' was wrong. Killing Claudia might have been neccessary for the time but not 'good'. No wonder the kid wants to be a mobster!!!!!

I am with you, still have not watched the show since they broke up Jason and Elizabeth. Can not take how they have crucified the characters. Jason would NEVER forgive Sam for what she did to Jake and he would never leave his family. I do enjoy reading the posts on Soaps.com
