): He just can't seem to win these days... He gets hell from people for not shooting Claudia, in a room full of people; but he received it for pulling out a gun, at the carnival... Oh well, he is still just as fine as ever in my eyes(: |

Well, gh2012, I must say I have absolutely no sympathy for Jason and would love to see him get his comeuppance. |

I agree Jason is damned no matter what he does! |

It's interesting how different everyone can view a character. When I see Jason, I see the same guy I've always seen. He's loyal and he protects the people he loves, nothing has changed IMO. |

Well, I don't buy the OOC argument or any of that either. Jason is a product of the writer's imagination and they can write him any way they want. |

As far as I can tell, Jason has been one of the more consistently-written characters on the show. For better or worse, he seems pretty much exactly the same to me now as he has in any given previous year. |

Who gave him he!! for not shooting Claudia? The fact that he even pulled a gun at the carnival OR in the MC was RIDICULOUS! Let me rephrase that...the fact that Sonny waited until that point to confront Claudia, she being a KNOWN mobster herself, causing Jason to pull his gun in from of a room full of people who have NOTHING to do with this, is RIDICULOUS! I think they BOTH have lost their marbles and it's time the Corinthos-Morgan Organization went on a LONG vacation and came back to the apparently mob free PC (there's only EVER mob trouble when Sonny opens his mouth) because aside from AZ wanted to off Claudia, there hasn't been any mob trouble for awhile. Here's an idea, how about bringing the Q's back upfront and putting the mob to the back! |

I think Sonny should have killed Claudia, himself, take her back to Puerto Rico, and do the deed, time for him to clean up behind himself, he marry her. |

There are some posts in the Jason Fan thread about Jason not shooting Claudia.....apparently he's such a good shot that he should have taken Claudia out while she was holding Carly in a room full of innocent people. That's what the REAL Jason would do. It's just a soap. |

The Jason that we see now on our screens is the REAL Jason and he has been since day one. I'm glad we got that cleared up! |

The Jason I know and love never would have taken a shot at a person holding his PREGNANT best friend (with a gun to her belly no less) in a room FULL of INNOCENT people. It's just a soap. ICA agree with that last statement. He was completley IN character... the poor guy. Can never catch a break... especially on the MB |

I completely agree! Jason can't win. If I hear another out of character argument i will scream!! lol Writers shape characters the way they want them to be. When they do something that fans agree with then they are in character. However, when they do something that upset us then they are out of character. I would argue that soap characters are like humans. They have a central identity, but they make mistakes and they change. If character stayed the same over the years, that character would become boring. Carly has changed and most agree that she has matured. If she was the same person that she was with Sonny or SB's Carly, then she would drive a lot of people crazy. Recently on the boards, I have heard how much more we like Carly now that she is mature and away from Sonny. It's okay for Carly to change or develop, but not Jason? The "out of character" actions of various characters make them interesting. It shocks, upsets and makes us cheer for them. No one likes when people put Liz in a box. She has many sides and she can be a ride or die chick too. When people argue that Liz is cowardly, her fans get angry. They point out all of these times when she has supported Jason or gone head to head with Sonny. I could respond and say these actions are out of character for the timid, people pleaser Liz, but I won't because I recognize that Liz has various dimensions and the out of character actions make her loved by her fans. |

Jason does things that upset us. He does things that make us happy. His character hasn't changed. To me he's become more human. He has more dimensions. Agreed. "Out of character" actions are one-time actions that run counter to the personality and development of the character. If a character shows a gradual and steady progression toward new behavior, it is not OUT of chracter, it is his/her new character. Jason has been changing slowly and steadily for nearly two years. It's no longer out of character for him to show more intense emotions. |

He who can shoot anything and anyone and never suffer any consequences. Nuance, irony, sarcasm, they are subtleties of the English language. Some of the people in the Jason fans thread actually got that. Move on. Please. |

I think that some fans decide that when a character does something that is undesirable, the character is out of character. We treat these soaps characters like real people except when they do something we don't agree with...then they are out of character. |
