Quote liz-fan: On some leval you either see your self or someone you truly love as that person. If yoou didn't you would not connect to that character. This is an emotional connection. I know many will say "No" it's just a show but if that is true then why do they feel the need to discuss it at all?

To me it IS just a show......a show that I care very much about, but still just a show. I may like certain characters for the qualities they possess, but I don't have an emotional connection to them. To me it's all about a world that I do not live in and it's an escape from my everyday life. Everything has become so reality driven and the simple entertainment from a drama or comedy has been lost IMO. I like to discuss General Hospital simply because it's a part of my daily life, I've watched it for over 25 years and it's simply fun to discuss. I DO think that there are posters here who are emotionally involved and it shows dramatically in their posting style, but I can promise you that is not the case for us all. It's a show where couples come and go, people get away with things they'd never get away with IRL, and characters are constantly changing and evolving. Nothing is real and that's what I love most about it. It's very simple.

Again Jane we will have to disagree. I stated my point of view and said to read the threads and make her own views. These are mine and I doubt seriously that anyone could convince me otherwise.

I can't convince you that I'm not emotionally involved with the characters of GH?? Interesting.

Having a view about the way YOU feel about the show and it's characters is fine, but your post insinuates that everyone must have an emotional connection to the characters or they wouldn't be discussing the show. THAT is NOT true for ME and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone, so there can't possibly be anything to disagree on. I only post because it's entertaining for me to discuss a show that I find entertaining and the ONLY show that's a part of MY daily life. It's as simple as that. If I didn't like the show, believe me I'd move on and never give it another thought. It's JUST a show.

Yes my post is stating that the people on this board have an emotional attachment to a character and the show. You feel you don't that's fine and I could be wrong but I don't believe I am. I believe everyone who is this board and is invested in the show has some emotional attachment. I have a right to believe that as you have a right to say that I'm wrong. I'm sorry you disagree but that is what we have, a disagreement, and I'm being polite and honest when I say I doubt seriously that anyone could change my mind.

No one has to agree with me, many won't. That doesn't change that I answered her question according to my view. That was what she was asking.

I'm certain that you answer based on your view.
I'm not calling anyone out. I totally include myself in this. So I'm not putting anyone down in anyway I'm just posting my view point.

Women.
We connect with one characer or another and that character is the one we see ourselves as.

We as women see other women as our rivals not the men. Therefore it has to be the womans fault not the mans. We see it everyday in girls and women whose boyfriends or husbands have had an affair. They can be hurt by the male but it's laid at the females feet so we can keep the relationship established between the pairing. If we blame the man and he wholes responibility then how can we except him back? We can't.

You are brave. LOL! I agree with you, btw, that this has much to do with it.

Quote Marocgirl: Ok 1st off, This is maybe my second time posting so I'm really new to this. But I've been reading alot off the threads in the past 11/2 so that's what I'm going on ok. Bear with me. Second I've been watching Gh since I was abt 8 yrs old so abt 18 yrs now on and off, more on then off. I don't really have any favorites, I love the show as a whole so keep that in mind please.

So my questions is why is it always the women of GH that get called out. I rarely ever read anything abt the Men of GH and if I do it's not very often. People are wondering why Claudia's being thrown to the wolves and Sam's getting away with what she did? Well I want to know why Johnny who was also in on Claudia crazy scheme is not getting any heat. He gets to move on and have a love life with Olivia and work with Sonny who's son was shot and have a friendship with Jason who is trying to get Claudia. I could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure Johnny knew what Claudia was up to? So if Jason is going after claudia because of the shooting then why isn't Johnny going down with her. She may have made the call but HE KNEW AND AGREED TO IT. I don't care if it was an ACCIDENT, it resulted in a child being shot in the head. But that is rarely discussed. I like johnny so it's nothing against him I'm just asking.

Another thing, people are saying Jason is ooc. Maybe because of how he's being written,I think it's just lazy writing by the writers, because they want claudia out so they are having jason do it. Bad writing. I hear Jason is a hypocrite because he's with Sam again. But I never hear that he's an A** for what he did to both Liz and Sam. He had a child with another women after years of being with Sam,while I know there were alot of people out there that were so happy abt it, I was disgusted. I watched my sister for years struggle to have a baby and it was heartbreaking to watch. Every child was a constant reminder of what she didn't have ,i could imagine what she would have done if her husband had a child with someone else. It was his responsibility to tell Sam abt Jake,Not Liz's, but the only thing I heard Liz is wrong because she told Jason not to say anything. She wasn't the one in the 2 1/2year relationship with Sam. She's not the one who said "I've never loved anyone like I've loved you" to Sam. She's not the one who kept it a secret. It's Jason's FAULT. If he had told Sam maybe the it would have been a different out come. Who knows?

When Sonny kissed Olivia, again it was Olivia's a Ho. Ummm I don't remember her raping him but hey I have missed a few show so maybe I missed that episode.I if did please fill me in.

Anyways Sorry abt the long post but I really would like to hear what you all have to say. Again I have no favorites. I prefer some storyline over others but I usually watch for the whole show. This not a jasam Liason war zone it's a Make the men pay too war, just making that clear.

I haven't read any of the other posts in this thread yet, but I just need to say that I really loved this one. You brought up a few things I have been wondering myself, but you also brought up things I have NEVER thought about. I agree with pretty much everything you said. I love Johnny, and I'm certianly HAPPY HAPPY that he isn't feeling the heat for his part in the shooting. (and I don't remember either how much of a role he played in it). But it does certianly seem like the writers are ignoring whatever connection he had to Michael getting shot.

I also agree with the things you said about Jason being "OOC." It is bad writing. And he certainly hasn't owned up to the things that he did in a way that I would like.

Here is another person to consider. Liz is being ragged on quite a bit for sleeping with her fiance's brother. Which, by the way, I just think is a bad timing kind of situation. Anyways, where are the people to call out Nik on his playing Rebecca and inadvertently being with two women at once? I can't ignore it though, I have heard some people mention things, but then I have heard way more comments that completely disregard that fact.

I'm glad you posted that! Thanks for bringing it up.

LOL! Thank you but no there really is nothing brave about me. I'm just brutally honest and when you live under that designation you need to have a looking glass that is ten times stronger on yourself than anyone else.

Don't say anything to anyone until you have reviewed yourself and admit when you are in the same boat.

Though I myself am not like this, I agree with this for the most part. Many but definitely not all women do see other women as their rivals. It's also easier for a lot of women to blame other women for the wrongs the men in their lives commit. It is sad because if men were held more accountable for their actions they wouldn't do half the things they do. And as another poster stated I enjoy the show but I am not emotionally invested in it. I don't see myself in any characters but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the show.

Wise words, liz-fan. And I agree with your previous statement as well. The "other woman" (or man!) is often blamed in these situations.

But what about the cheating spouse?! Aren't they equally at fault? I would most definitely say yes!

But back to the topic at hand. Which to me in a nutshell is: The double standard is alive and well in 2009.

IA! Double standards are a way of life on this board and i'm no eception to the rule. I'll forgive most anything that Liz does but I don't feel the same for other character.

As I read through the posts I found myself nodding in agreement with just about every post.

Welcome to the board Marocgirl and your observation is spot on. While I have criticized Lucky, Sonny and happily played in the Jason is a punk thread...I probably have not been even handed in my treatment of the women on GH. And I'm a feminist.

Once we recognize that always and never do not/should not apply to our posts...we can often accept the truth in statements such as Liz-fan's. I believe your explanation applies in many cases. It has always bothered me when women have let the husband off the hook while attacking the other woman. Of course the other woman is wrong but the betrayal belongs to the husband. He is the one who took and subsequently broke vows.

Love the thoughtful insight this thread has inspired.

Oh and I'm off to check out the jolu thread as I don't think I've ever ventured in.

Umm Ok if this bolded part is directed at me, well I thought long and hard abt posting this thread and I actually wasn't trying to be rude. It was a simple question .

The thing is I'm not in the same boat or I wouldn't have posted this in the first place. I don't see myself ion ANYONE on this show. To me it's a show and that's it. I enjoy it, sure. But I watch to entertain myself and that's it.

As for it having to be laid at the womens feet, sorry, but I totally disagree. I've been in a relationship for 8 yrs, if he ever cheated on me. It would lay at his feet and only his. Why because He crossed that line knowing what he was doing. Sure the other women is WRONG but She's not the one committed to me. JMO. I guess we can agree to disagree. I asked a question and you answered it the way you feel so thank you.

I know I can't really speak for liz-fan, but I don't think she was directing her post at you personally. I think she was just saying it in general terms.

And as far as the JoLu fan thread, IA. I think I would rename that thread "I hate GH...except for Lulu."
