She doesn't really have a purpose anymore in terms of driving the plot any further. This might sound bad, but sometimes characters need to die and stay dead. There needs to be a few out there, just so the soaps can actually said there are characters they haven't resurrected. Claudia is the perfect choice. I wouldn't be on board for a recast either. Sarah Joy Brown is an awesome actress, who put so much effort and talent into trying to take the character the writers gave her and make it her own. Any flaws along the way are solely to be accredited to the writers' misjudgments on how the direction of CLAWS should have gone. Any other actress couldn't have done a better job. Johnny on the other hand, and arguably Anthony as well, still have a place on the show. In fact, I'm hoping BB sticks around for quite a while. Its only recently that I fell in love with JZ, and crave more EVERY day. Die and STAY dead? Oh, J09, I think that may be too hard a concept for soap writers to comprehend. LOL! Zombie Town has NOTHING on daytime soaps! I totally agree with you about it. I'm a charter member of the Keep the Dead Dead Brigade. If the viewers see them die, if another character (especially a doctor or nurse!) touches them or declares them dead, if we have a body in a casket -- THEY STAY DEAD. IMO, making that a rule would mean TIIC have to think long and hard about how to exit a character. |

Im so glad someone started this thread. I love Claudia and have loved her since she first graced my screen. She has always delivered such a passionate and powerful performance, no matter the material. I honestly think the show will have a void left by her disappearance from the canvas. Claudia showed a fire and darkness that no other female character on this show is able to convey. Please at some point bring SJB back as Claudia! The show needs her. |

I don't like Claudia just like I don't care for many characters and in my book it's a good thing. I don't have the hate for Claudia that many have so I do hope they don't kill her off. You never know if/when a time would come where she could redeem herself(though I don't think she needs to)--be it 3 years or 10. I just think she's a character that shouldn't be expendable. GH has already killed off too many characters that they should not have (Alan, Georgie, etc.)But that's my just me. I'm sure her exciting will be exciting every way. |
