During the engagement party with Lucky and Liz it seemed to me that Luke described his love for Laura as not enough. Did he say that he felt like the walls were closing in on him? I know that I'm bringing up the past but I've also been a big Luke and Laura fan. Watching old clips of them shows Luke very much "in love" with Laura even though he always wanted adventure. I'm sorry but I feel that the show is now trashing them which is sad.

I think they are trashing the famous couple. I've been watching for yrs and I remember how happy Luke was in the house b4 and after Lulu was born. I never remember him once complaining about there life together.

You know, when I started watching GH around the end of 2001, Laura/GF was still on the show, tho' at that point Luke and Laura were broken up, as I recall.

I also seem to recall a lot of dialog about how Luke needed to be "free" and Laura wanted to be "settled" with her family and raising Lulu. I had hoped then that TG would leave and we would get some new stories centered around GF. Unfortunately, that was not to be.

But I can certainly understand that those who loved this famous couple would be quite disappointed in some of the apparent rewrites of history that have gone on in the last year or so.

I was a huge L&L fan and continue to be Luke's biggest fan. I wasn't at all bothered by Luke's admitting his fear of the walls closing in. This does not diminish his love story with Laura for me. She always knew this about him; he never denied it. I liked how Luke was sensitive enough to realize that Liz might have similar feelings and was caring enough to try to empathize with her plight.

There were a few really wonderful things about that party at the Spencer house in addition to Luke's discussion with Liz. I loved how Luke took the opportunity to welcome Ethan into the family and I also was delighted that he mentioned that he had spoken to Laura about Ethan. I was wondering how that gaping hole was going to be closed. I was one of the L&L Faithful who was extremely upset by Luke's admission that he'd had an affair with Holly during what many of us thought to be a period of love and family (and adventure, of course) in Luke's life. But, I was gratified that the writers remembered to acknowledge that this was something Luke had to tell Laura about.

The Luke I saw at the party this week seemed so much more the old Luke to me. His drinking was normalized and he was happy to be in the warmth of his family. (But also true to character, he was snarky about the sugary sweetness of it all...Tracy is a terrific companion for him...she stabilizes him but allows him to continue to be Luke.)

I am loving the Spencer Clan being front-and-center again.

Does anyone know where Laura is, what she is doing and who she is with? I thought she is getting treatment in France and she is with Scott, but I don't know for sure.

Aw heck...I wouldn't worry too much about that one. Someone reports that particular rumor every year.

It didn't bother me. I thought it was in keeping with how he's been since the family returned to PC. He's always had a look like the walls were closing in on him when things got too domestic for his blood.

Then again, I never believed in the Luke and Laura happily-ever-after fairytale. I like them both better when they are not married; I find them both more intersting when they are not a couple.

FWIW, the Luke we've seen since his return from vacation seems more like Luke in the golden days of the character. I don't know who the angry, angsty drunk was we've had in the last couple of years, but I hope he's gone for good and this Classic Luke is here to stay. He and Tracy in that scene with Helena was terrific.
