General Hospital - MESSAGE BOARDS

I want to say from the beginning I didn't create this topic to trash any actors , no matter who you prefer you have to respect that each actor struggles to bring something new to the table , and it isn't easy to step into a role that has been played sucessfully by someone else . That being said here are my favorites .

Carly - Tamara Braun : Carly matured and grew up so much when Braun was playing her . I first started liking Carly when Tamara took over , she capitalized on what Sarah Brown did , but she was a fresh face , and I had an easier time forgiving the things that the character did in the past . I don't think Carly has been the same since she left . Jennifer Bransford's portrayal of Carly set the character back . Though in fairness to Ms. Bransford she didn't have time to grow into Carly , Tamara Braun was wildly popular and she was thrown into the deep end . it was literally that Braun left on friday and Bransford started airing on monday - it was too jarring . I like Laura Wright , and I think she is doing an excellent job but at times her Carly is too harsh , and hard bitten .
She plays Carly like a gangster out for a kill , which makes it even more unbelievable that she would go in for any of Sonny's nonsense , history or not .

Lucky - Greg Vaughn : I have to admit he has grown on me and that is saying a lot , if I would have written this 6 months ago , my response would be completly different . A lot of people seem to like Johnathan jackson , but in the direction Lucky has gone in , I can't quite picture him in the role now .

Nikolas - Tyler Baker/Christopher : Nikolas went into too dark a direction when Tyler left . And it is also a credit to Tyler that he was able to catch fire with the audience for a second time when he came back , I think AMC is a prime example of having actors or charcters that you intially miss come back and fail to connect with the audience . If anything I like Nikolas more now .

Emily - Natalia Livingston : I think that she has taken Emily in a direction differnt from her original portrayer Amber Tamblyn . Could you imagine Tamblyn's Emily having an affair with Sonny ?

I am loving Laura Wright! She brings out the crazy Carly! Emily Livingston is great too.I got to say that Greg Vaughn is also great and i am not sure about who i preffer that played Nikolas i guess both are good.I will go with the newest cast members,I just LOVE Laura Wright!I liked Tamara as well but Laura blows them away.

I enjoy Laura Wright as Carly but my all-time favorite in the role is Tamara Braun.
Tamara had super chemistry with Maurice Bernard and Ted King. I think she had better chemistry with Steve Burton as well. She had the ability to play Carly as street-wise and vulnerable, without the in your face quality, so much.

My favorite Edward, without a doubt, is John Ingle. He is a joy to watch.

As entertaining as LW's Carly is to watch, I don't see her as a dramatic actress. She is like a parody, something you would see on MAD TV or In Living Color...

Natalia's Emily was a fair addition, and she held her own, winning a statue for Best Support Act. Amber's Emily needed to age a bit in the part. Amber wanted to go. So I don't fault actors who need to move on.

Greg works! but I have trouble with adjusting to him as Lucky. His hair is too dark, he lacks the edge of the former. But again, he could have played any character...why he had to be Lucky is beyond me.

Nikolas...Tyler is the original. I liked his replacement Stephen Martinez, but when I found out that Tyler was returning I was glad to see that Stephen wasn't ripped from Gia, and forced to read lines that Emily was his first love. Since she isn't.

I agree w/the majority of the posters so far - 'Carly'. When Sarah Brown left - it took me about 2 years to adjust to TB's Carly. I never ever forgot Sarah and would often imagine how she'd play a particular storyline if she were still there.

BUT... When I heard Laura Wright was stepping in, I knew that GH had just struck gold. I remember the first day I saw her on GL as 'Cassie'. She was awesome and if anybody could do the character of Carly justice - it was her. I think she has taken Carly to a whole different level.

Carly has to be the best recast out of all these charcters listed. I don't like Emily these days. I think her acting can be a lot better. Nik is still the same to me. Lucky was better when it was Jonathan Jackson but he won't ever be back making the kind of money he probably makes now doing movies and stuff. They could have made this Lucky look a little bit more like a Spencer. Why isn't he blonde? Does he have blue eyes? I read somewhere that Tony Geary was really upset when Jonathan left that he didn't want them to hire another Lucky. He told them that they should just kill him off if anything. Who knows how he feels now with this Lucky?

I have to say, I simply adore Laura Wright as Carly.

And, I love Tyler Christopher as Nik.

And, I love G.V. as Lucky.

And, of course Steve Burton as Jason, because originally Jason was about 10 years. Then one day in walked Steve Burton as Jason. And Monica and Alan went, they grow up so fast. It was just, sooo funny.

I love LW as Carly. The original Carly was by far my favorite. I loved Sarah Brown, but now with Laura Wright I enjoy her just as much as Sarah Brown.

Tyler Christopher is Nikolas to me and I hated his recast. NOw that Tyler is back I actually like Nik again.

I loved Amber and Jonathan as Emily and Lucky, but like others have said, I think they both needed to age so that the character could deal with more adult issues. But I do think if Jonathan were Lucky, the storyline with Lucky and Maxie would have been more believable.

Oh this one is major - I remember reading that Steve Burton wasn't the only actor to portray Jason - I haven't seen the other actors , but Steve Burton by far is my favorite Jason .

well when tyler christopher left i was so heart broken i think he plays the role best........

& i miss amber tambly and jonathan jackson so much though i do believe i dont know if i can see them as the mature characters GV & NL have taken them

I love Laura Wright and all i think she was great as Cassie on GL.... But i miss SARAH BROWN she was the best for Carly and she was so much prettier that Tamara...!!! I didnt really like TB as carly.. it took me a long time to adjust, she just didnt do it for me though.. i miss sarah

But i have to say that Kirsten Storm is wonderful as Maxie! yea Maxie gets on my last nerve but i think Kirsten plays her well. And i like to see her play an evil role considering she played Belle Black on DOOL for so long and that character was such a goody goody!

I love,love,love Laura Wright! I had never really paid attention to GH before and it so happened that the 1st episode i watched from begining to end was when LW started! i have been watching GH faithfully since 05 when they were all in the train crash...

LW and GV is my favorite recast.
