Lexi sucks up to Maria, boasting her relationship with William and how he obviously loves her. Lexi goes on and on about the reasons he should love her, and Maria interrupts her. Maria tells Lexi that if she is going to kiss her ass, she should wear a decent color. Lexi leaves to continue her work.
Luke arrives at Gianni and Lexi immediately takes him up on his previous offer to talk about Maria. She takes him to lunch and tells him that she doesn't know how much more she can take. He gives her some tips on her body language and what it usually means when she does certain things. Lexi changes the subject to his artwork and suggest that he invite her over sometime to take a look. When Nikki and Michelle go to leave the restaurant, Michelle is disturbed to see Lexi and Luke there together.
Lexi delivers the file on Michelle to Maria. Maria lures Lexi into having a glass of wine with her. Lexi reluctantly agrees….and ends up intoxicated and talking with Maria about her type of man. Maria coaxes it out of Lexi that she is attracted to her son Luke. Even though Lexi insists that nothing will ever come of it….Maria tells her not to say that because "You never know".
Hans and Harold stress out over having a design ready for Maria when she arrives. Michelle approaches the frazzled designing duo and inquires as to what is going on. She notices that the dress looks similar to another design of hers. While Hans and Harold struggle to keep the truth inside, Michelle suggests changes to make the design work. Hans and Harold are both thrilled with her vision. Luke walks up and steals Michelle away to talk (against John's better judgment). He invites Michelle out later and she accepts. Luke then goes to see Maria and stops to see Lexi. He offers to lend an ear if she ever needs help dealing with his mother.
Maria has a nightmare right before the alarm sounds, in which William is a masked villain. Maria gets to work and Lexi gives her a quick morning touch base while several others work on her hair and makeup. She approves Michael to shoot a new lingerie line. William calls and Maria sends everyone out. She thanks William for last night, and he wishes her good luck this morning…even though he insists that she won't need it.
At the press conference, Maria speaks to the audience and tells them that she is a woman that strives for perfection and expects nothing less from her design family. Her team (Michelle, Hans, Harold and Nikki) all are on stage with her. When a member of the press inquires about the new dress (Michelle's design), Maria says that is 100% Gianni. Stunned is the only word to describe the look on Michelle and Nikki's face. As Maria continues to gloat, Michelle exits the stage as Hans and Harold run after her. Outside, Lance is spying from behind the bushes as the designing duo tells Michelle that "she is Maria Gianni and she rarely tells the truth". They tell her that getting taken advantage of is unfortunately part of the drill. She says that her marriage should have prepared her for this as she sees Lance leave. Hans and Harold tell her that they need to get back upstairs.
Maria makes it back to her office and Lexi again updates her on what she's missed. She is intrigued by the fact that Luke called just to say hi. Lexi tells her that the Michelle Miller project is going ok. A frustrated Maria gives her a password to a search engine that will speed her up.
Before entering for the lingerie shoot, Tania takes some pills outside. Michael informs her that she looks like hell when she takes glasses off. They agree to make it work so they don't have to answer to "Hurricane Maria". Michael has a difficult time getting quality photos of Tania because of the mood she is in. He keeps pushing, but it doesn't work. Maria and the clan from Gianni (Lexi, Hans and Harold) walk into the shoot. Maria demands to know what is wrong with Tania's face. Tania tries to speak, but Maria insists that she is talking about her…not too her. Michael tries to calm Maria down and Tania storms off. Lexi informs Maria that Luke and Tania have broken up. Maria demands that she have the file of Michelle Miller by 7 pm tonight because she has some reading to do.
Maria is having a meeting with her lawyer in her office about her financial debt to William. Lexi enters and tells Maria that William Chandler's office called to confirm dinner reservations. Her Lawyer (ever so surprised), advises her as a friend and as an attorney, that William Chandler is nothing but ruthless in business. He bets that he is the same in his personal relationships. (Maria has flashbacks of her times with Chandler). She insists to Clive that she can take care of it herself. Maria then goes to see her shrink. She tells him that the recent sex between her and William is different. She says that she is her own worst critic. She then says that she wants to talk about Luke and that she believes that he purposely chooses women that she will despise. Then she proceeds to tell him about Michelle. She calls her a social climber and that she would only date Luke to advance her career. When suggest that she fire Michelle, she says that she can't!
At Gianni, Maria lectures Lexi about the inadequate recording of her telephone messages. Michelle walks in and Maria turns her focus to her and the fact that she is late returning from lunch. Maria tells them both that she doesn't want anymore excuses from employees. To Maria's surprise, William interrupts them by saying hello from behind her. Maria has flashbacks of her recent rendezvous with him. He tries to tell Maria that she isn't too motivational to her employees. As William starts to caress her body and kiss her neck, he seduces him into telling him who Michelle is. He gathers from her reaction that it must have something to do with Luke. Maria insists that he would never fall for someone like her. Maria begs William to please give her more time to pay him off. He tells her that this is about them…not the money. He tells Maria to tell him what she wants from him. Lexi approaches the door as William is leaving. She tells him that she thought she heard something, and he replies telling her that he is sure that she did.
